Introduction

Star Wars: Republic Commando sounds amazing at first glance. With a story of a squad of elite commandos working for the Republic in the Clone Wars, how in the world could this not be good? Two ways: Terrible Weapons, and Terrible Story. Those are two of the most important things in FPS's to really absorb the player in the experience and the character's feelings. This game does not disappoint.

Graphics

The graphics, at the time, were top-notch. Even now, several years later, they are still very good, compared to some shooters today. The graphics are very good, especially in the more demanding aspects, such as grenades, exploding droids, shooting guns. The animations, then, were good. Now, the environments. They looked very good. They were detailed, even the unimportant things, such as a crate that had that nice, detailed scorch mark. It is those more detailed things that really defined it. I will have to give them a seven out of ten.

Sound

This game had OUTSTANDING sound. The use of foley for the Geonosian's weapons and movement, from the sound of simple footsteps taken by the commandos. They all were so detailed, so precise. They really wrapped me up in them. The weapon sounds of the Commando's were also believable. They sounded just like I imagined a laser gun to sound like. The sniper rifle sounded realistic, they all sounded great.

Gameplay

The gameplay was average. The scenarios were predictable, it seemed to be a real run-and-gun the whole time. Though at several times you thought you were in the fight, and it did have several intense believable battle scenarios, but for the rest, it felt like run here, shoot that, run there shoot that, run back, toss a grenade, etc.

The online was average with Team Deathmatch, regular Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Assault. They were fun, but lacked that edge. It also would have been nice if there were different races than just Trandoshan and Commando. The character customization is nice, though.

Lastability

A fun game that I think will last several more years before going obsolete. This game is fun, but sadly, with more Star Wars games and shooters coming out, this game will soon fade into the oblivion of Star Wars games. The online is still going strong, but the online alone isn't enough. The campaign will keep some enthralled, but like Call of Duty, some of the levels get boring after several repetitions. Average longibility.

Overall

I'm going to give this game a 8 out of ten just because of the several intense, mind blowing, unbelievable combat scenarios. The online is fun, it sounds amazing, and it will continue to be one of my favorite games that I have ever played for a long time coming. I hope you enjoyed my review!
