Gladius is a turn based role-playing game that allows you to either start on beginner mode or advanced mode. The mode you choose to start with determines how many job points you earn for each level up, how quickly you accumulate money, and how quickly you level up.
The graphics in this game are amazing. The best I have seen of all the games I have played. From the gladiators themselves to the arena designs, even the world map design is awesome. I have played Balder's Gate Dark Alliance (1) and I thought the graphics in that game were awesome. The graphics in Gladius destroy the graphics in Balder's Gate.
The sound in this game is amazing. I play for hours on end for days straight and I love the sounds. They give a realistic effect to the area you are in. Birds chirping, water running. When an attack misses and is blocked with a weapon you actually hear the clink of the metals colliding. The animal sounds are also amazing, amazingly realistic.
The gameplay is definately the best I've seen for a long time. For a turn-based rpg it's great. I have also been really critical of these kind of games because they are either really slow, or just plain annoying. They definately need to make a sequel to this game.
I have been playing this game every day for over a week, I bought it over a week ago too. I am not bored, and I have not beaten it. Yet. I remember when my wife and I bought Balder's Gate Dark Alliance (1). We beat it the same day we started playing it. Gladius is alot more fun to play, there is no way to beat it the same day you start playing it. And it is definately a very addicting game. I love this game, I love playing this game, and I love watching my wife play this game.
I give this game a straight 10 of 10 people. Games are usually really easy for me to become bored with, but not this one. From the graphics, to the sound, to the game play itself. I love this game. If there is anyone who does not have this game already and is contemplating getting it. I advise you to quit reading this and go buy a copy of it, wherever you can find it.
