This game, in my opinion, introduced an entirely new spin onto the Dragon Ball Z series. The story follows a format somewhat similar to the Tenkaichi series, but Bandai-Namco really revved it up! The buttons are easier to remember, the characters are impressive--they introduce SSj3 Vegeta and SSj3 Broly in this game--and the fighting itself is awesome.
For it's time, it was definitely impressive. Not the best 10-out-of-10 graphics, but they were awesome nonetheless. The transformations and the attacks look very impressive, and the characters themselves look all right. There are cut-scenes that happen to almost every attack, with are better than just getting hit by a blast and taking damage.
There was nothing wrong with the sound. The characters even began to curse, which started to make the dialogue a little more easier to enjoy. The characters didn't talk too much, but the dialogue they did insert seemed to fit the story. The sound effects weren't too far from the anime, making it more enjoyable.
There were some parts where the developers didn't fully master. Nothing major, though, as the controls and the things you were able to do definitely improved from Tenkaichi 3. The fact that all you had to do to use a Kamehameha was move the right Analog stick a direction compared to Tenkaichi 3's complicated combinations is definitely an improvement.
It's very fun and never freezes up. However, once you beat the story mode and have unlock all the characters and their moves, there's really not too much else to do unless you have online. Plus, in order to unlock all characters and all attacks, you have to win stars from the Story Mode battles you already won. That can get frustrating and difficult.
This game was missing some characters, such as Ultimate Gohan and Demon King Dabura. The story missed out on some epic battles as well, such as SSj2 Teen Gohan and everybody else vs the Cell Juniors and Yamcha vs a Saibaman. Other than that, however, this game was awesome! The mechanis were well used in this game. Anything that this game missed was more than added into Raging Blast 2. To me, this game gets a 9 out of 10. If I'm wrong, tell me why.
