St. Valentine's Day 2014

Greetings Tappers and Happy Valentine's Day!

The next Holiday Special Event has officially started, and Tappers all over the world can now celebrate the Love Holiday -- or at least say "Yay" and try to get excited about buying some candy and a few cards for those special someones in their lives....

Of course if you happen to be a play-ah this could end up being a rather expensive event... Just saying...

Thanks to last year's SVD Event you'll already be familiar with this year's -- or maybe not? Maybe -- just maybe... You are all new to the game and you were not here for last year's event?! Maybe you need to know everything about it and what to do??!! Yeah, I am convinced -- you do!

The St. Valentine's Day Event in 2013 introduced the alternate game currency of Red Hearts that were used for the purchase of the Event Buildings as well as Decorations. The following were Event Items available for purchase via the Hearts Currency:

The new St. Valentine's Day Holiday Special Event begins with several obvious beginnings: the new Missions and Quests, and the traditional Content for this sort of event, which tends to take the form of Buildings and Decorations as well as character objects from the previous events that are now mostly Premium Items, and the availability of new objects, decorations, character Items, and the like.

So with little or no fanfare, here we go!

The process of adding a new character to your Springfield is almost always a Special Event, and it is doubly the case when that new character also happens to be rather cute and a worker from the Nuke Plant!

Once you progress the main Mission for this Holiday Event to the point that you have constructed Madam Chao's (the newest restaurant in Springfield and Chinese haute cuisine at that!) the completion of the Building project will result in the placement of Mindy Simmons as well.

For her part Mindy adds to the ambiance of the town as well as provides the boys from the Nuke Plant with a drinking partner of the opposite sex, so hey, win-win! Let's just hope Homer can keep his hands off of her, right?

Mindy Offers the Following Tasks to the Game

These Tasks are her initial set upon placement -- chances are though that as time goes by and new events are added to the game, like most of the other supporting Characters in the game she will obtain additional Tasks in her personal menu.

While Mindy does not have her own instant Task after placement, as long as Homer Simpson is available she does contribute to the main event quest, which is something you will want to bear in mind...

2014 Event Missions

A major part of every new Special and Holiday Event is the assignment of New Quests and this year is no exception to the rule! Once you have loaded up, you will automatically flag the dialogue and then you can proceed from there!

Cards are Read, Marge's Hair is Blue

Bit of a play on words that, but basically this is the primary Mission and Quest Line for the 2014 St. Valentine's Day Holiday Special Event!

Cards are Read, Marge's Hair is Blue Pt. 1 -- Harvest Valentine's Roses

To get this first Quest in the Holiday Mission started you will need to have purchased -- and placed -- the farm that belongs to Cleuts and his family -- AKA Cletus' Farm. That requires you to be at least Level 6 and have the funds and time to do that, which really you very probably already have, right?

Finally you need to complete the following Farm Activity: Plant and grow Valentine's Roses, then harvest the same! This is accomplished by selecting (tapping on) Cletus' Farm, then completing the following Task:

Valentine's Roses (24h) 50 Hearts and 100 XP. (Cost = $1,000)

Completing this Quest/Task/Mission results in the award of 200 Hearts and 10 XP for your town and character! To see the results in terms of the Guide skip to the section below titled "Rose Crop Completion" before you return here to continue the Mission!

Cards are Read, Marge's Hair is Blue Pt. 2 -- Spin the Wheel of Friendship!

As previously noted in the pop-up, the cost to spin the Wheel is 200 Hearts -- you can obtain Hearts either by completing the various Quests and Missions, and through planting Rose Crops among other actions...

To complete this part of the Mission go ahead and spin the very disturbing Wheel Mini-Game -- and we only say disturbing because look who is playing the role of Cherub?!

Completing this awards you with 50 Hearts and 10 XP.

Cards are Read, Marge's Hair is Blue Pt. 3 -- Make Ned Sing a Valentine's Ditty.

To complete this part of the Mission Make sure that Ned is available and have him complete the following Task:

Sing a Valentine's Ditty (6h) 10 Hearts and 50 XP.

Completing this awards you with 50 Hearts and 10 XP.

What Springfield needs is a new restaurant -- a new and classy Chinese restaurant for sure -- and the best choice for that would be Madam Chao's new and classy Chinese restaurant!

After you have completed the third part of this Mission, the new Building will be unlocked in your in-game store, and for the cost of just $2,500 and a 24-hour build time, a day later you will be the proud recipient of not just Springfield's newest restaurant, but an Income-generating building and restaurant that also happens to include Springfield's newest resident in the form of new character Mindy Simmons.

It remains to be seen what this new Building -- and character -- has to offer Springfield, but you will never know if you do not get started, right? So complete the following Task:

Build Madam Chao's Restaurant -- $2,500 + 24h Build Timer.

Completing this awards you with 50 Hearts and 10 XP.

Cards are Read, Marge's Hair is Blue Pt. 5 -- Bringing the Mission to Work!

We can hardly have a holiday without bringing the holiday to work, where the festive spirit will add some legitimacy to the typical goldbricking exercises at Springfield Power and Lights!

For this stage of the Mission you will need to have Homer Simpson -- and the newest addition to your town, Mindy Simmons -- free and available. The actual Mission stage is flagged by Homer, and requires the following three stages:

I. Facilities Construction

Prior to flagging the Mission you will need to have constructed the Control Building, as that is the area of the plant in which Burns, Homer, and Mindy all work. Once the Control Building has been completed, you can continue on to complete the Mission!

II. Have Homer Work a Shift at the Nuke Plant.

Make sure that Homer Simpson is free and available, and then have him complete the following Task:

Select Homer Simpson and the following Task: Plant Shift (16H) $500 and 125 XP.

III. Have Mindy Work a Shift at the Nuke Plant.

Make sure that Homer Simpson is free and available, and then have him complete the following Task:

Select Mindy Simmons and her following Task: Plant Shift (16H) $500 and 125 XP.

Completing this awards you with 50 Hearts and 10 XP.

Cards are Read, Marge's Hair is Blue Pt. 6 -- Make Mindy Ride Motorcycle.

For this phase of the Mission Mindy takes center stage, taking a ride around town. To complete it have her do the following Task:

Ride Motorcycle (24h) $600 and 150 XP.

Completing this awards you with 50 Hearts and 10 XP.

Upon -- completing and harvesting -- the Rose Crop you receive a pop-up notice that explains that each time you grow a Crop of Roses in addition to obtaining a set amount of Hearts you will also find a special Rose Bush deposited in your Storage Box that you can then place as a functional decoration in your world -- your Parks are good places for these right?

Now that you have completed the base farm quest you have unlocked the main Mission Lines for the Holiday, which basically takes the form of a pop-up that not only explains what is happening, but activates the special Holiday Menu System (very similar to the one from the Xmas Holidays). The following information is communicated:

• Visit Friends: Sending and receiving cards earns you Hearts!
• Wheel of Friendship Mini-Game: Use Hearts to spin the Wheel of Friendship and win exclusive Valentine's Decorations!
• Unlocking the Exclusive Krustyland Ride: Collect all of the Decorations on the wheel to win an exclusive Krustyland Ride!

At the bottom of the New Holiday Event Menu there is the usual Timer that is ticking off the time between now and the event ending date (25 February). This new menu can be accessed at any time by tapping the "?" button with a red heart above the bottom-left-hand-corner status display and well done you!

A Rose is a Rose is a Rose

Completing the first Rise Crop on Cletus' Farm is just that -- the FIRST Crop! To complete this Mission you will need to do the following:

• Plant Valentine Roses on Cletus' Farm x3

• Place Valentine Roses from Storage x3

Completing this Mission awards you with 50 Hearts and 10 XP.

Return to Sender

You cannot have St. Valentine's Day without a Love Story, right? Well, here is your Love Story -- or maybe a story about a stalker, a gift and... Gah! You are going to need to make Milhouse Follow and Stare at Lisa Simpson in a totally non-stalking, non-threatening sort of way... Yeah.

To complete this Mission, make sure that both Milhouse and Lisa are available, then have Milhouse complete the following Task:

Follow and Stare at Lisa (16h) 30 Hearts and 70 XP.

Completing this Mission will also result in the award of 50 Hearts and 10 XP.

Where's the Love?

For this kick-off Mission you need to visit three (x3) Neighbors and deliver Valentine's Cards.

Completing this Mission awards you with 200 Hearts and 10 XP.
