St. Patrick's Day 2014

Greetings Tappers and Happy Pomato Day!

The special Holiday Event for St. Patrick's Day is unique to the world of Springfield in that it is getting an early start with a pre-holiday event that also happens to be an Episode Tie-In. So consider this a multi-part multi-themed wake-up call!

St. Patrick's Day Part I -- AKA "Diggs" and "The Man Who Grew Too Much" Episode Tie-In.

This phase begins with some conversational interaction between Homer and Lisa as soon as you log into the game following the mandatory Update and patch, with Lisa arguing with Homer about the very real need for locally-sourced fresh veggies. Vegetables are a food portion that Homer makes it very clear that he is just as happy not having...

I Say Pomato, You Say Pomahto

The first quest to kick off the St. Patrick's Day Holiday Season has Lisa asking for locally-sourced fresh veggies as a matter of basic dietary health and Homer editorializing on the matter in order to make it clear that he can leave it or leave it!

I Say Pomato, You Say Pomahto Pt. 1

This is a multi-part quest with a basic requirement that will only be an issue for brand new Tappers. To complete the quest you will need to fulfill the following requirements and Tasks:

(1) Reach Level 6 and Build Cletus' Farm

(2) Make Homer Visit Cletus' Farm (4h) $175 and 45 XP.

Completing this Task will result in a reward of $100 and 10 XP.

I Say Pomato, You Say Pomahto Pt. 2

Now that you have added the basic capability of locally-sourced veggies - and Homer has verified that fact with a visit to the farm of that well-known all-organic local farmer Cletus, it is time to complete the next phase of the quest which is the growing of a traditionally Irish crop of Potatoes in preparation for the upcoming holiday!

To complete this part of the quest you will need to have Cletus complete the following Task:

Grow GMO Pomatoes (4h) $225 and 25 XP.

Completing this Task will result in a reward of $100 and 10 XP.

I Say Pomato, You Say Pomahto Pt. 3

(1) Make Lisa Investigate Pomatoes (24h) $600 and 150 XP.

(2) Make Homer Pass the Time (24h) $600 and 150 XP.

Completing this Task will result in a reward of $100 and 10 XP.

Diggs

Not really a quest or task, this part of the event takes the form of Milhouse nervously bringing a text message that Bart sent to him to Bart's attention... You have to read it to get the joke, but the primary function of this exchange is to draw your attention to a new non-playable pet and animal character in the form of a Hawk named Freedom.

Freedom is a Premium Character -- which is to say costs Donuts (which means real-world Money). 40 Donuts to be exact. Included as the third animal in the new "More Animals and Pets" collection (the other two are Snowball II and Stampy which are Prizes from the new Friend Point / Frink Point System).

Whether you choose to spend the Donuts on this new character or not, it nicely wraps up the first phase of the St. Patrick's Day March 2014 Holiday and Special Events Expansion! Enjoy!

The second phase of the Holiday Event has you Building O'Flanigan's Pub (if you did not build it in the previous holiday event) after which the event takes on its own unique direction. Remember on St. Patrick's Day everybody has a little Irish in them!

Dye the Town Green

Believe it or not there is a long tradition of serving Green Beer on St. Patrick's Day -- starting in the mid-1950s the brewery would add the green food coloring to the kegs during filling for the special SPD Version; before that the bartenders used to do it themselves.

Dye the Town Green Pt. 1 -- Make Tom O'Flanagan Dye Beer Green

To complete this part of the Mission simply have Tom complete the following Task all Old School:

Dye the Beer Green (1h) $70 and 17XP.

Completing this Task also rewards you with $100 and 10XP!

Dye the Town Green Pt. 2 -- Make Tom O'Flanagan and Lisa Actually Dye Beer Green

The old-school method for dying beer green for the St. Pat's holiday involves using food coloring in each glass as it is being prepared to serve to the customer - though today (in fact since the mid-1950s that process was handled by the brewery adding the coloring as the beer was put in kegs. The mystery here appears to focus on the beer...

To complete this part of the Mission simply have Tom and Lisa complete the following Task all Old School:

Actually Dye the Beer Green (45s) $3 and 1XP.

Completing this Task also rewards you with $100 and 10XP!

Dye the Town Green Pt. 3 -- Make Lisa fix the Green Dye

Thanks to Lisa being a Geek all her life she has this covered! So complete this part of the Mission by having Lisa complete the following Task:

Fix the Green Dye (24h) $600 and 150XP.

Completing this Task also rewards you with $100 and 10XP!

Dye the Town Green Pt. 4 -- Make Lisa Shop at the Kwik-E-Mart

She must be getting very desperate indeed if Lisa is opting to shop at Kwik-E-Mart in the hopes of coming up with a due solution! To complete this part of the Mission you will need to send Lisa off to compelte the following Task:

Shop at Kwik-E-Mart (1h) $70 and 17XP.

Completing this Task also rewards you with $100 and 10XP!

Dye the Town Green Pt. 5 -- A complex collection of tasks for you to complete...

Lisa agrees to a compromise that begins with you reaching Level 9 and placing a trio of dumpsters for recycling purposes, as well as using Nuclear Waste to dye the beer (seriously). To complete this Mission you need to complete the following Tasks:

1. Reach Level 9 and place 3 Dumpsters near the Bar.

2. Lisa: Relinquish Her Moral High Ground (12h) $420 and 100XP.

3. Tom: Use Neclear Waste to Dye the Beer Green (12h) $420 and 100XP.

Completing this Task also rewards you with $100 and 10XP!

Note: Technically you can place the Dumpsters pretty much anywhere in town so you do not actually need to surround the bar with them. Good news if you care about the way your town looks, right? Secondly, both Lisa and Tom can undertake their Tasks at the same time, so it is just 12h not 24h.

Dye the Town Green Pt. 6 -- Kick Off the Official Irish Bar Celebration of St. Patties Day!

Following the well-established Traditions of St. Patrick's Day in Irish Bars and Public Houses the World Over, one element of the population will over-indulge in green-dyed beer while one unfortunate fellow -- one Homer Simpson -- will not.

To complete this part of the Mission you will need to have Homer Simpson (and at least 15 of this Neighbors who are age 21 or over) complete the following Tasks:

Homer Simpson: Endure Moderation (16h) $500 and 125XP.

15 Neighbors: Enjoy a St.Patrick's Beer Bash (16h) $500 and 125XP.

The successful completion of this sub-mission will also result in the award of $100 and 10XP more or less....

Training Day

Set out to build the pub so you can prepare your Springfielders for the holiday!

Training Day Pt. 1

To complete this past of the Holiday Event mission, complete the following Tasks:

(1) Build O'Flanagan's Pub -- this will cost you $1,900 and requires 24h build time. Building the Pub will also add the character of Tom O'Flanagan to your town.

(2) Send Springfielders to Train for St. Patrick's Beer Bash (12h) $420 and 100 XP.

To complete this Task you will need to send x10 Springfielders to do this.

Completing this mission also rewards you with $100 and 10XP.

Make Homer Drink his Doubts Away. To complete this part of the mission simply have Homer complete the following Task:

Make Homer Pass Out. To complete this part of the mission simply have Homer complete the following Task:

Make Homer See his Drinking Past. To complete this part of the mission simply have Homer complete the following Task:

See his Drinking Past (1h) $70 and 17XP.

Make Homer See What his Drinking Life Might Become. To complete this part of the mission simply have Homer complete the following Task:
