Introduction

FINALLY! After so many months of delays, so many nail-biting, hair pulling, cutting off your own limbs kind of days since it's anouncement, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has finally been released. It had been the most painful year ending with the numbers 06 at the end of it EVER. Then Nintendo anounced it would be for the Wii. That's the day that I had my first ever heart attack. But putting that behind me, her is my review of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Graphics

This is actually the only part of this entire Zelda experience that I have a problem with. You see, Twilight Princess was originally made as a high definition Gamecube game... And it looks like it was supposed to be on the Gamecube. Sure, it is the best looking zelda we have ever had, but if they are going to put it on the Wii, delay it again and spruce up the Wii graphics please. I also find quite a few graphical glithes. Don't get me wrong, it looks good for a cube game, but they could have done more to bring out it's full potential.

Sound

Have you ever played a video game that had no music? Well it sucks. In the case of Twilight Princess, this is definitley the best music there has ever been in a video game.

EVER.

The old music has been remixed to sound better than ever before. And the vast numbers of new tracks? What about them? One word.
Amazing.

Another thing was the sound that comes out of the Wiimote itself. Classic sounds and most of the sounds your items make come the Wiimote and most of the time sound flawless. Most of the time. Sometimes, the sound is eerily muted, and other times, it glitches up. These minor things are easy to forget though, so I'm okay with it considering how Nintendo had to rush to keep from delaying the game yet again.

Gameplay

When I first got hold of an epic combat scene, my first thought was... Oh wait. I fainted. But that's off subject. The gameplay has been massively improved from the Wind Waker. The Z-targeting system is back from the dead and working better than ever, while swordplay and progectile weapon use has been totally revamped from any other game ever. Lightly flicking the remote in nany direction will have Link execute his basic slashes. Their are quite a few combos and stabs, along with a new hidden skill system, where throughout the course of your adventure you will come across 'howling stones' which smmon the White Wolf to a specific point on the map. Go to him in human form to learn your next hidden skill. They range from returning moves from the Wind Waker like the Back Slice, to all new things like the Mortal Draw. Link also has this nifty wolf form and an evil little imp for a partner. Being a wolf is basicly the same as your human form, except some attacks differ on different enemies. You also have access to your canine sences, which are used in a number of ways throughout your adventure.
Projectile and clawshot aiming are used by pressing the B button to go into first person, point the remote wher you want the arrow or whatever to go, and hit B again.
Actually setting Items has been revamped as well. Instead of using the start screen to select the item you want, you press the minus button to bring up the equipment menu and set your item to any of the directional buttons except for up. Then by pressing that button, you set the item to B for use.

Lastability

Jeez I wrote a lot in gameplay. Anyway this section is about the games lastability. First off, something you neesd to know. THIS GAME IS REALLY, REALLY, REALLY LONG. There could be at least 30-40 hours of game time in the story alone. All by itself. There are dozens of hours of sidequests to complete. Some are really long. Some are kind of creepy, some are frustrating. There are even more pieces of heart than any othe Zelda installment because now you need five to make a heart container. In any case, this game could go on for AT LEAST 90-100 hours and not even have all of the sidequests and easter eggs in this game!

Overall

That was a lot harder than I tought it would be. This is by far right up there in the top three Zelda games of all time. It blew me away from the start. It has that kind of epic feeling you get from a Peter Jackson movie, or Harry Potter. The graphics could have been better, but only if we wanted every Gamecube that ran this game to explode. The music and sounds were phenominal, even if some stuff was messed up and I misspelled phenominal twice. Gameplay is priceless as is the incredibly long lastability.

I think I have to give The Laegend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, a 9 out of 10.

Final Score: 92%
