Introduction

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is a game where Link has to save Tetra(Princess Zelda). The whole game is touch screen controlled and introduces a map that the player can draw on. It also features the cel-shaded Link found in The Wind Waker and has effects from the game.

Graphics

Some people would say that they like the Zelda graphics portrayed in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. While the graphics in Twilight Princess are more detailed and realistic, fans of Wind Waker will attest that cel-shaded Link is not that bad. The environment is well-handled, but the effects are quite underwhelming.

Sound

The Legend of Zelda has always had some great music. Phantom Hourglass decided to mix it up and use brand new music in the game. In most Zelda games, the music in one game can be found in another. Phantom Hourglass does not have this. Though the music is nice, it would be cool to hear the retro Zelda music once in awhile.

Gameplay

Many DS owners think that stylus control is no fun. Old-school gamers are used to the controls of the classic Zelda games. Many people were used to the movement of Link with a control pad and using weapons with the A and B buttons. However, Phantom Hourglass provides a very smooth controlling system. Though it may be hard to get used to, the stylus control is actually more realistic, though not as accurate as D-Pad movement.

Lastability

This low score is for a very big reason. For those who have played previous Zelda games, they always seem to last for awhile. Most Zelda games have a lot of sidequests to do along the way. Unfortunately, Phantom Hourglass does not. For seasoned Zelda gamers, this game would probably last a day or two. Even someone who has never played a Zelda game could finish this game in less than a week. Although the game does feature wireless and Wi-Fi battles, they can get repetitive. The game is great, but it is too short.

Overall

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is a pretty good game. It may have quite a few flaws, but so do all games. The fact that this game is too short really hurts it's overall score. However, Zelda fans shoudl still buy this game. This game still provides the same great Zelda feeling of all the old games, to bring a fun experience

Final Score: 74%
