Introduction

This is the first Zelda game to the DS. It's been rumored to be one of the best Zelda games to appear on hand-held versions, such as the 4 Swords, and others, with better graphics and Side-Quests. Well, in this review, we'll see whether those rumors are fact, or fiction.

Graphics

The graphics are a good upgrade, compared to the Gameboy, and Gameboy Advanced. The graphics base from Wind Waker, and they have a good similarity to the GameCube versions, and as well as the cutscenes that are in it. They're pretty standard for the DS, so don't expect anything more from it than it. Everything is basically digitized, and havea 3-D out look, as you pass it, and have shadows to everything. The only problem though, is that sometimes seems inferior to the GameCube. Overall, it's actually pretty good. Score; 8/10

Sound

The sound is honestly good, and has some from other games, such as the Ocarina of Time, as in the beginning, when Tetra get kidnapped. It changes in every area you visit, just about, as you switch towns, and enter different caves. The music varies from different boss battles, from the first, to the final. The ending credits consist of the main music from the beginning. The downside is, that it gets annoying after a certain amount of time, and you'd want to turn down the music. Overall, the music is pretty good, but is annoying... Score; 7/10

Gameplay

The Gameplay has to be the best, because of the traps, and puzzles you have to solve in each dungeons. Even better, is that they get a little harder during each dungeon that you go to. The puzzles are not that hard, and can be solved a lot easier than expected. Then, the game almost revolves around the touch-screen, which is a big suprise. It's kind of hard, such as slashing a sword, but over time, most people would be customed to it. The touch screen controls many things, such as drawing lines for routes to guide your ship, to the direction to throw your boomerang. Using the touch screen, and the items you recieve, you would have to defeat various bosses, collecting pieces from the main quest as well. So, the gameplay is pretty awesome, except from a few flaws. Score; 9/10

Lastability

The game lasts awhile, even after you beat the game. There are only 8 dungeons, but having to go to various places, you'll find that it isn't really short after all. After you beat the game, there are other side-quests to do, such as finding the other Heart Containers, to get your health to the max, or collection Ship Parts to customize your ship to your needs. There are also many secrets to uncover, like getting all 20 treasure maps, and finding all the minutes to the Phantom Hourglass, and discovering all the hidden island in each section of the sea. Overall, the game seems to last forever. Score; 10/10

Overall

This game is one of the best Zelda games out, comparing to Twilight Princess, but is a little short in Story Mode. The Wifi capabilities make it a little more meaningful, as fighting other players across the world, but there really isn't much of an option. This game is also pretty long in extras, so any Zelda fan would love to play this new addition to the series. As for the rumor, yes, this is one of the best games.

Overall Score; 9/10

Final Score: 86%
