How do you Scry for Antiquities

Scrying in The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor is the process of unlocking the secrets hidden within a lead, allowing you to discover antiquities dig sites in a zone.

You will need a lead on an antiquity in order to begin scrying, you will be able to find your unlocked leads by going to your journal. If you click on one of these you will open the scrying window which is a minigame where the objective is to connect the lit up points on an area covered in hexes. This is accomplished by combining symbols to form paths between them. If you manage to connect all 6 points, only 1 location will be marked on the map where the item can be. If you miss some, more locations will appear and the search progress will take more time. As you proceed down the scrying skill path you will unlock more tools that will make the process easier. These are listed below.

Coalescence Skill
Unites hexagonal cluster of facets in the Antiquarian's Eye, converting the symbols to match that of the central facet. Facets = Symbols.

Dilation Skill
Claim all facets of the selected type that touch your area of control, as well as matching facets directly adjacent.

Farsight Skill
Claim a line of facets, stretching out from your area of control.

How to Dig Up your Antiquity by Excavating

Once you have found the area where your antiquity is buried using the Antiquarian's Eye you will want to begin excavating in order to dig it up.

How to dig up your antiquity by excavating

At the excavation point a mini game will begin where you will use the agur to ping the location of the buried treasure on a grid. You have only a limited amount of actions when excavating an antiquity, and you will fail if you reach your limit before digging up the item. If you are careful and quick enough there is always the possibility that you may also uncover bonus loot during the excavation. As with scrying you can improve the effectiveness of the tools you use and get new ones by leveling up the excavation skill path. The tools you can use for excavating are listed below.

Augur
Helps you 'sense' where in the dirt the item might be.

Hand Brush
Clears away a small amount of dirt and enables you to use the Trowel and Heavy Shovel by generating Intuition.

Trowel
This tool must be unlocked, it clears away whole layers of dirt in a single cell.

Heavy Shovel
This tool must be unlocked, it clears away a small amount of dirt from a large area.

What is the Antiquities System

It is worthwhile participating in the Antiquities system as doing so will enable you to earn rewards including collectibles and riches while uncovering the region's secret histories and lore. All the regions in The Elder Scrolls Online aside from Imperial City, Blackreach and Cyrodiil will have antiquities.

Before you can begin searching for antiquities you must visit the Antiquarians Circle in the city of Solitude in Western Skyrim. It is south of the Blue Palace, and adjacent to the Bards College.
