The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the 4th installment of the series, and it is definitely the best to date in every way, shape and form. Every single aspect of the game has be improved from the graphics to the gameplay. The game is bigger, better and way more fun than any of it's predecessors which as many people will agree is no easy task.
The graphics in Oblivion are amazing when you consider how huge the is. The creators have obviously spent hours on every animal, monster and NPC. There are literally millions of different character styles with the new character design. The landscape is beautiful whether it is a orchard in full bloom or the desolate plains of Oblivion itself.
The voice acting is very good as usual, and when you consider that there are literally thousands of NPC's then you begin to realize just how big a job that must have been. The soundtrack is good and the songs played usually fit with the area you are in (and also changes when you are in battle). Even the animal and monster sounds have been nailed perfectly as have the weapon and armor sounds. Every sound is very realistic and very lifelike.
Definitely a huge improvement on it's predecessors Oblivion has a fantastic battle system. The battle system is innovative and a hell of a lot of fun. The Quests are challenging and the enemies are matched to your level so that you never get in over your head, however this also makes sure that you always have a challenge from start to finish. The leveling system is great and improving your stats is way more fun than collecting experience point like on many over games like this. The game is set up so that you can be either a warrior, a stealthy their, a powerful mage and everything in between.
With a great main quest, loads of guild quests and hundreds of side quests this game could take literally months to complete. You are never left with nothing to do, even when you are not in a quest you can travel the countryside battling enemies as you go along and collecting alchemy ingredients. And of course there are loads of dungeons for you to complete, each with it's own enemies to be defeated and loot to be taken. There are also so many different character classes available and so many different ways of playing the game that it has massive replay value. You could play with 10 different characters and still not even scratch the surface of this game it really is a huge game. Hours upon hours of fun guaranteed.
Definitely deserving of the title "Game of the Year" and possible the best game of it's kind. Rival developers will have a hard time topping Oblivion as it is as close to perfect as you can get. A must have for any gamer, a great addition to any collection. Buy this game and I promise you will not be disappointed.
