I have mainly PS2 games myself, finding the PS2 one of my best gaming consoles. However, I also find myself playing my DS regularly messing about on the majority of my Pokemon games. Yes, I am a fan of the Pokemon games, but I hate the anime series.

I am never one to cheat on my games until I have completed them the first time without the aid of cheats. However, if you've beaten the game without cheating then I see no reason why you can't restart and cheat, since you already know what happens and have proven you don't need to cheat to beat the game. Also, I don't call using glitches cheating. I call it using initiative - after all, you're only making use of something that was already there. You didn't have to insert any AR or GS code to end up with the end result.
