Shoulders of Giants is a sci-fi roguelike designed to put your teamwork to the test. Players have the ability to control both the sword-wielding robot GERM and the gunslinging amphibian Froggie as they explore each planet and fight off the forces of Entropy. Play alone, with a friend, or as part of a four-person team, cutting through waves of enemies on a quest to rescue the galaxy from the forces of Entropy. Below are several hints and tips that will help you progress in the game.

Pay Attention to Dialogue

It is essential that you pay attention to the galactic animal experts who aid Froggie and GERM in restoring balance to the universe as these team members will often recommend strategies that will help you in combat. Read the dialogues carefully as they pop up on screen in the form of text and the character's image.

Collect New Abilities

In each of the worlds you visit there will be abilities hidden for both Froggie and GERM. It is important that you locate these abilities as they will make defeating the enemies and bosses that you encounter on each level easier. Abilities will appear on the landscape as a glowing icon. Both Froggie and GERM have a max capacity of three abilities that can be equipped at any time.

Change and Craft New Cores

Once you have successfully rehabilitated a planet you will be sent to the main hub where you will be able to upgrade abilities and craft useful weapons. GERM's Cores can be changed by speaking with Panda and new Cores can be crafted from old equipment which is recycled into a randomized higher level Core.

Spend XP on Ability Upgrades

Different Dyes can be equipped by speaking with Panda in the main hub. Dyes are basically different skins you can equip to change the appearance of both GERM and Froggie. Dyes are a cosmetic that costs XP, it is recommended that you save your XP for ability upgrades which will make them stronger and modify their effects.

Don't Forget to Reload

Although Froggie's sharpshooting skills are great for performing headshots or taking down monoliths it is important that you remember that the game has an ammunition system in play. This means you need to keep in mind that Froggie will need to reload once he has exhausted his ammunition.

Prioritize Enemies for Easier Battles

You will be attacked by a variety of different enemies in Shoulders of Giants, each with their own unique abilities and fighting styles. You can make battles easier by targeting certain enemies first instead of killing whoever gets too close. Prioritize the enemies that have a distinct green and black moth-like design as these enemies are able to heal other monsters around them.
