Client Reward Task
Navarre 100 Macca Complete three quests and return to the tavern.

2nd Stratum Map and Demon List

Upon arriving at the tavern, talk with K to learn more about your next mission. He'll also introduce you to Challenge Quests, which are basically the games' sidequests. During this conversation, Burroughs will scan the blackboard and register three challenge quests for you.

The following Challenge quests below can be completed in one-go. You don't need to deliver the lichen and gryphon talons immediately upon collecting them.

Tip: Some (delivery) Challenge quests can be turned over repeatedly for diminishing rewards.

Challenge Quest Client Reward Task
Gather Some Naraku Lichen K Holy Fruit x2 Deliver Deep Green Moss x3

These are found in designated item locations in the 1st or 2nd Naraku Stratum. You should have at least two during your first Exploration. Otherwise, just head to the item locations again to gather more.

Collect Demon Claws K 300 Macca Deliver Gryphon Talon x3

These are acquired by defeating Gryphons which are pretty common in the 1st or 2nd Naraku Stratums. They're weak to Gun attacks so use Demons with Needle Shot to quickly kill them. You should have a lot in stock if you stayed a bit and grinded a few levels.

The Lion's Roar Within Naraku K 1000 Macca Slay Orthus

Orthus is located in the 2nd Stratum, in front of the small room southeast of the stairs. (Refer to the map below) It will be stationary so you have enough time to prepare and heal up before engaging it. Make sure that you or at least one of your Demons can use Bufu.

Fire: Drain

Ice: Weak

Dark: Resist

This is a special demon that you must bring down to complete the Quest. Orthus has two Press Turn Icons which allows it to attack twice in a turn. It's Bouncing Claw attack can land 1-3 hits on a single target. It's Fire Breath attack also damages multiple targets so prepare to heal up as necessary. If you or your Demons are near Orthus' level then you shouldn't have too much trouble taking it down.

After the battle, if your party is still good, you can fully explore the area and slash the breakable walls along the way. One of them leads to the third stratum though I'll suggest proceeding only if your party is still combat-ready.

You can head back to the tavern to start the next main Quest.
