Each demon has their own set of skills, which they can inherit through fusion or by Leveling Up. Some skills are also exclusive to certain Demons, making them more valuable additions to your army. These skills have different effects and come in different types which you can use to exploit your enemies’ weaknesses and cover your own. Since the game’s combat relies heavily on skills, it will help consulting this guide to know the demons that roam the area you’re going to explore and the weaknesses and attacks they have.

As you progress in the game, you’ll be able to purchase Burroughs apps that will increase your and your Demons’ skill slots. You can even decrease their MP cost by purchasing specific apps as well.

Notes about Skills

Guide Image

1. Unlike some SMT Titles, all Physical and Gun attacks consume a fixed amount of MP instead of a percentage of the user’s HP. Normal attacks are listed under the Skill menu though they don't consume any MP. However, you can still inflict status ailments and land 1-3 hits depending on your character’s equipped weapon.

2. Ice and Elec skills won’t have the ability to freeze or stun/ shock targets.

3. Multiple status ailments can be inflicted on a target

4. Single-target skills (e.g. Bufu) are slightly more damaging compared to their multiple-target counterparts (e.g. Mabufu). The only exception are Horde-type enemies.

5. Pierce-type skills won’t penetrate repel attributes. This includes buffs from skills like Tetrakarn and Makarakarn or items like Attack Mirror and Magic Mirror.

6. Almighty attacks are considered neutral and thus, will be able to deal damage to all Demons regardless of their resistances.

Tactics

1. Diversify your skills. Having different types of skills will allow you to adapt to any situation, especially with the game’s unpredictable battles. This will also allow you to work around enemy resistances, repels and nullifications.

2. Use your MP wisely. MP is valuable especially in long dungeon crawls since your dependable attacks consume MP. It’s wasteful to spend MP to finish off a dying enemy that can be otherwise taken out by one or two normal physical attacks.

3. Healing, status recovery and revival skills. If possible, have your character learn at least one of these skills. Though you can swap fainted Demons in the middle of a battle, it will be helpful if you can bring them back to life especially if you’re in the middle of exploring a dungeon. Being able to heal allies outside the battle will also help so you don’t have to waste turns in healing in the middle of the battle, unless it is necessary.

4. Buffs: You don’t have to use buffs in normal encounters but if the situation calls for it (matter of survival) then don’t hesitate to buff your party. During boss fights, buffs can help even out the situation or give you a distinct advantage for a short time.

5. Always attack the enemy’s weaknesses and avoid using the attacks they’re strong against.
