Demons

A Samurai’s main task is to exterminate demons. However, to do this task, they have to make some demons their allies and use them in battle.

Scouting

Early in the game, you’ll be able to buy a Burroughs app called Scouting. This adds the “Talk” option in your battle menu which will allow you to talk to demon and negotiate with it to join your party. Once a conversation is initiated, the demon will ask a series of questions. Depending on your responses and selections, you can satisfy its requirements and convince it to join you. Choosing the wrong responses or refusing its demands may give it a free turn to attack. [br /]

In addition to answering the question correctly, a demon will also ask for additional compensation such as items in your possession, a bit of your HP or even the life of one of your allied demons. Take note that demons have their own personalities; the answer that worked on one demon may not work on the same demon type. Remember that negotiations aren’t always successful. There will times that the demons you’re negotiating with will leave the fight after getting what it wanted. Take note that if your character’s level is lower than the scouted demon, it won’t join your party even if you satisfied it.

You can attempt to talk to the demon again after a failed negotiation but some of them may harbor ill will from the last attempt. If not, you’ll have to go through the process of satisfying the demon. Take note that this negotiation attempt will be considered fresh; any item, macca or sacrificed life/ spirit force from the previous attempt won’t hold any bearing in this conversation.

If you talk again to the same demon type that you have in your party or stock, the negotiated demon will award you randomly with HP recovery, macca, experience or items and the battle will end.

As you level up, more apps can be purchased from Burroughs that will add more options to your “Talk” command, like the ability to ask demons for macca, items or cease-fire or receive gifts or macca from successfully scouted demons. There is also a certain app that will even reduce the number of the demon's demands during negotiation or even have the recruited demon to scout and recruit other demons! Some demons speak unintelligibly so talking to them won’t be of any use. You have to purchase an app to enable that ability.

Evolution

Specific demons evolve or transform to a more powerful form once they reach the required level to evolve. Please refer to the Demon Evolution section for more details.

Skill Evolution

Upon learning a new skill, a demon will sometimes attempt to change an existing skill into another one. You have the liberty to deny or allow this change.

Whisper

When demons level up, their stats automatically increase and they’ll be able to learn their hidden Skills. Once a demon levels up enough for it to learn all its skills, it will be able to teach all or any of its skills (except passive skills) to the player through Whispering. If the character already has the same skill(s) a demon can pass through this event, those skills will be strengthened (indicated by +number). If the player doesn’t have enough slots to learn the new skills, you’ll have no choice but to select the skills you want to keep and end the event.
