Second Extinction is a cooperative first-person shooter where mutated dinosaurs have taken over the Earth and the few survivors left have fled to space. Through short but intense guerilla missions, your specialized fireteam is being sent back to Earth to pick the invasion force apart. The creatures work together against the player. Enemies include raptors and T-Rexes. Because all the dinosaurs are mutated, they possess unusual features, including the ability to generate electricity to launch shock attacks. Second Extinction is a survival game, and it is crucial you are prepared for unexpected dinosaur encounters at all times. Although it is tempting to scour an area you have just cleared for hard-earned loot and items it is safer to get in the habit of consuming what you have first before picking up new ones. This means you need to cycle items and reserves properly, so you get maximum efficiency out of them.

Learn Dinosaur Attack Patterns

The dinosaurs in Second Extinction have specific attack patterns and movements, and they are things you need to become familiar with. It is essential that you protect your health pool in this game, so the best strategy is to kite enemies away and fire from a safe distance. Use the seven-directional jump dodge mechanic and focus on the dinosaur's attack pattern. One thing you need to know how to do proficiently in the heat of battle if you want to survive is to jump dodge while healing. Nearly all the big dinosaurs have a weak spot where they are extra vulnerable. You can target these spots for effective damage and easy kills. These weak spots are highlighted in blue color.

Prioritize Kills

It is important that you prioritize your kills when you are attacked by a horde of different types of dinosaurs. If there is any Watcher's present you need to focus on getting rid of this dinosaur first as their main purpose is to call more dinosaurs to the fight which is something you want to avoid happening. After that you need to take down the Spitters, so you eliminate their ranged threat which can do devastating damage over time. Once these two types of dinosaurs have been dispatched you can deal with those remaining however you like.

Customizing Weapons

In Second Extinction there is a whole arsenal of weapons you can customize by adding elemental attacks to them like electrical, fire, and poison. Although it will increase the efficiency of the weapon against the dinosaurs you need to keep in mind that some dinosaurs are mutated with those same elements which means they will be extremely resistant when attacked by weapons of the same type. It is therefore recommended, especially on solo runs, that you avoid equipping multiple weapons that feature the same element.

Farm Higher Difficulty Areas

If you are part of a well co-ordinated and equipped squad you should consider investing time grinding higher difficulty areas as these will yield the best items and resource bonuses. Also keep in mind that the only way to get platinum and diamond level upgrades is by achieving five-star rankings on missions.
