Full Review for RuneScape 2 by desertfusion

Introduction

RuneScape is a Massive Multiplay Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) produced by JaGeX LTD. When I say Massive, I truely mean massive, as I look at the main site now, I see it says over 135 MILLION! Accounts made.
RuneScape is based in the Dark Ages, with castles, knights, and mages. It also incorporates a fair bit of fantasy, with goblins, dragons, trolls, and giants.
Around a fifth of the games content is avaliable free, which you may think isn't very much. But when you realise that that fifth acutally lasts you about 2 years, usually more. 15 of the 24 skills ar avaliable to free players. Membership only costs 5 US dollars a month, which I found is quite reasonable.
RuneScape is a constantly growing game, new content is updated to the game on a weekly bases, usually a new quest or area to explore. But every 9 months or so, a new skill is introduced (usually members only).
Players start off fresh out of the tutorial, where the take part in an epic battle against a fire-breathing threeheaded dragon, in Lumbridge. During the tutorial, players are given a brief, but vital, instruction on most of the controls of RuneScape, and the laws of the land.
The targetted age of RuneScape is around 13-18, although you are aloud to play under 13(just without the chat system) and much older, I have met people as old as 60 who play it.
I would reccomend this game to anyone who is remotely interested in RPGs pr fantasy.

Graphics

With all the recent talk about HD television, JaGeX has updated RuneScape improving the graphics immensly - known as RuneScape HD. I give RuneScape an 8/10 graphics-wise. If your computer cannot handle these new graphics, there are 2 other graphics levels. High detail, featuring detalied grass, trees, buildings, and such. Low detail has just the basic colours, it features square tiles of different colour shades that make up the world of RuneScape. RuneScape HD, however, has a massive improvement featuring new texturing on everything, from the monsters to the grass to the weapons you wield. The game has a very fluent motion of the creatures in it. And has seen a God-like improvement since I first started playing in RuneScape Classic.

Sound

I give the sound of RuneScape a 7 out of 10 for several reasons.
One; the music of RuneScape has a very small playtime, each track lasts only about 90 seconds, so if you stay in one place too long you run out of music to listen to.
Two; the sound effects of this game are quite amazing, it gives you the sound of chopping wood, clashing swords, monster grunts, and cooking fish. Every action you do has a sound that comes along with it, even walking has ambient footsteps.
Three; the reality of the music is quite pleasing, if you are on the island of Karamja fishing, you have a pleasing sea shanty to listen to while you fish. Walking through the dangerous fields in the Wilderness gives you a thrilling music that could rival that of Jaws.
Four; unfortuantely, the music of RuneScape is just not pleasing enough for me, although it is quite good. I simply turn it off and open Windows Media Player and listen to music more suitable for the target age. Metallica for the win. Many other people do also. But I like to appreciate the time JaGeX have put into making the music, and have the sound effects turned on.

Gameplay

I give the gameplay of RuneScape a perfect 10. It is a very user-friendly game with an outstanding community within it. You can never be bored while playing this game. It is one of Newton's unwritten Laws of Physics; "Thou shalt not be bored whilst ye playeth RuneScape."
As I said before, new content every week, so if you are playing and thinking you are becoming bored. BAM! There's a new quest to do with an excellent reward of a minigame or new location to explore, another weeks fun until the next update.

Lastability

If it was possible, I would give this game an 11 out of 10, simply because I have found this game overly addictive, like some sort of drug I cannot survive without. I originally started to play RuneScape 10 years ago as of this week, and although I've gone through some rough patches, I've always come crawling back. I actually used to be the fourth best player in the game before RuneScape 2 came out, an improved version of the original RuneScape, but my stupid Window's 98 couldn't handle it. About 18 months later, I was back again, crawling on my knees, begging for forgiveness for ever leaving such an awesome game. Unfortunately, I'd forgotten my password on my awesome account, which by then would've been ranked 5,000th. But part of the awesomeness of RuneScape, is that even if you have to start again, it's still really, really, really, really, really fun.

Overall

This final overall is a mix of my own opinion and that of my many friends I have made while playing the game. It is an extremely awesome game, which could last a trillion years if you lived that long. It is constantly being updated and improved somehow. Recently, they've changed the hiscores from the top 1 million to the top 2 million. So, as I set here idly thinking about what I'm going to do on RuneScape next, attempt the God Wars Dungeon or perhaps pwn some n00bs in Castle Wars, I give you this advice; If you aren't already playing RuneScape, you should just try it out, keep in mind that, if you aren't impressed by the first impressions, it always gets alot better. If you already have played RuneScape, but didn't like it; Shame on you! Go back to www.runescape.com and start again for it is the most awesome game ever.
