These hidden planes become available options when you choose the 'Ship Select' screen and enter the corresponding code.
Unlock Slave:
Hold B on any ship except Miclus and then press A (while B is still held down).
Unlock Fairy:
Hold B on Miclus and then press A (B must still be held down).
