Story ( MGA07 ) The year is 2016. A Jumbo jet flight number 326 is flying at an altitude of 35,000 feet when it get's hijacked. The hijackers have used the muscle relaxent Vecuronium Bromide - a chemical that can be lethal if inhaled excessively. Amongst the 517 passengers that have been taken hostage is the man rumored to become the next United States President. Meanwhile, on Lobito Island of the Moloni Republic in Southern Africa inside the Lobito Physics and Chemistry Laboratory compound guarded by a mysterious armed force is a man standing... He is a legendary mercenary, and former member of the FOXHOUND Unit... His name is Solid Snake. Back on flight number 326, the hijackers are making their only request, the handing over of "Pythagoras." The United States work on identifying who the hijackers are and what "Pythagoras" is? They soon find out that "Pythagoras" is the name of a project in which research is conducted on Lobito Island. The Moloni government refuse to cooperate as they do not want any interference in it's domestic affairs. The United States government begin to lose their patiences and so they send in it's special forces operation HRT but, the special forces gets attacked by armed forces there and as result all communications are lost. Meanwhile the contents of the classified research at the Lobito Physics and Chemistry Laboratory are about to be revealed. The United States government then decides to send in their last resort, the retired legendary mercenary Solid Snake. There is now not much time left and Solid Snakes adventure begins. c. Main Characters ( MGA08 ) --- Solid Snake --- A legendary mercenary and also a former member of the FOXHOUND Unit. He is currently retired from his former duties. --- Teliko Friedman --- A solider in the HRT special forces unit. Was once working under Roger McCoy's instructions. Her father is Collin Friedman and Teliko herself is half American half Japanese. --- Roger McCoy --- He was originally from New Jersey and is a member of the CIA. He has recently been working as an instructor for new recruits and has been away from actual combat missions for quite some time. --- Alice Hazel --- Alice is a young woman from England who has aided the FBI and CIA for a number of years using her psychic abilities. --- Gary Murray --- He is a lab worker that was involved in the incident, he has been trying to get Snake to help but with no luck. --- Lieutenant Leone --- Leone is the head of a mysterious group of mercenaries. His group was dispatched to the Moloni Republic to fight in a civil war there as part of an anti-government militia. d. Tips ( MGA09 ) - When trying to kill enemies always try to move as close as possible towards them and attack them from the side or the rear. How far away from the enemy you are affects your hit %.Remember that attacking from the side gives you a 1.2 damage bonus whilst attacking from the back gives you a 1.5 bonus. By doing this you can kill guards qith only one card. - Use all the cards in your deck. Ever card is good for different things so experiment with different decks. Refer to the "Deck Construction" section ( MGA15 ) for more information. - Use the Aerial View Mode. To get the Aerial View Mode up, whilst viewing your hand press Triangle. Sometimes it is hard to see where the guards are at times and by seeing through the Aerial View Mode you get a better view of the guards and your surrondings. - Konck on walls to lure the enemy away. By doing this you can get past the guards un-noticed or lure them to you for a stealth kill. - If you ever happen to find yourself surronded use grenade type weapons to break out. - Finally use your cards to set traps. Hopefully these Tips will help you through the game. I know they did for me. e. FAQ. ( MGA10 ) - Question - What does AC!D mean? - Answer - The exclamation mark (!) just stands for an I. I don't know why but it does and AC!D stands for Active Command Intelligence Duel. - Question - Is this game releated to the MG storyline - Answer - MGA has no relation to the true Metal Gear storyline. That is the orignal Metal Gear games on the MSX and the Solid series on the Playstation 1 and 2. A few reasons are: - MGA takes place a few years after Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Why would Snake then chase after Ocelot at the end of Metal Gear Solid 2 and then be back in retirement a few years later? - Also, according to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Solid Snake was born in 1972 which would make him 55 years old for MGA. Sure Snake looks a bit old but not that old. If you have any more questions please e-mail me them with MGA Q&A as the subject. Refer to the "E-Mail Info." Section ( MGA04 ) 0-------------------------------------------------------------0 III. All about the Cards ( MGA11 ) a. The Cards ( MGA12 ) Below is a diagram of what each card looks like, what everything means on the card and where it is on the card. ____________ | CT CC | CT = Card type | ________ | CC = Card cost | | | | PIC. = Picture of the card | | PIC. | | CN = Card name | | | | CDS = Card description | |________| | +++ = How rare the card is. The more +'s the | CN | rarer the card is. |------------| | CDS | | +++ | |____________| Very Rare Cards (+++++) are gold in color. Rare Cards (++++) are dark grey in color. b. Card Types ( MGA13 ) There are a total of five card types. They are: 1.- Weapon Cards 2.- Action Cards 3.- Support Cards 4.- Item Cards 5.- Character Cards - 1. Weapon Cards There are two types of Weapon Cards. The first can be used immediately and the second must first be equipped into the inventory and then loaded with ammo. - 2. Action Cards Action Cards are cards that you use to add onto your weapon cards or cards that boost your combat abilites. When you add an action card to a weapon card it gives the weapon card a ablity that makes the weapon card better. - 3. Support Cards Support Cards are cards that are used for Evasion and other movements as well as cost cards. - 4. Item Cards Item Cards are cards that you equip to yourself and are also medical items. - 5. Character Cards Character Cards are my favorite type of cards. Character cards are different characters that have been in past Metal Gear Games. The effects and uses vary for these Character cards. c. Getting Cards ( MGA14 ) Firstly There are also four different card packs. They are: - Metal Gear Solid 1 ( MGS1 ) - Metal Gear Solid 2 ( MGS2 ) - Metal Gear Solid 3 ( MGS3 ) - Chronicles These four card packs each contain different cards and each different card can only be in one pack. MGA revoles around cards so why do you get them? You can get cards from card packs ( three cards per pack ) which can be picked up during missions or you can buy them from the card shop. The card shop also sells single cards. Single cards cost a lot more than the card packs and the prices will vary depending on how rare they are. Card Pack Prices from the Shop MGS1 - 600 credits MGS2 - 900 credits Chronicle - 1200 credits MGS3 - 1500 credits You can also pick up cards lying around. Some missions have single cards lying on the ground that are just waiting to be picked up. In some missions you will have to pick up a certain card to complete the mission. Cards can also be collected through missions ranks. If you get a rank of an S, an A or a B you will recive some cards. Getting a Rank S allows you to choose one card from three, a Rank A will let you pick one card from two and getting a Rank B allows you to pick one card from a group of one. d. Deck Construction ( MGA15 ) There are a number of different deck styles that you can use. Different people will find different decks better to use for themselves. It's all up to the player about what deck they want to choose. These deck examples won't be very helpful for those beginning the game as there are a lot of COST reductions and lots of high BLK movement. Also thanks to BULLYBOY21 for helping me with these deck constructions. - - - - - _ _ _ _ / \ / \ - Deck One = CQC Deck | \_ _ _ _ / \ / - - - - - CQC Deck First and foremost this deck cannot be constructed until the very end of the game. Why? Because you first need to complete trhe Power Plant missions to unlock the MGS3 pack at Intermission. 2x Ocelet Unit 3x Action + 4x Running Man 4x Johnny Sasaki 4x Rush 4x Stealth 4x Cost -12 4x Jonathon Ingram Total Cards = 30 - - - - - - _ _ _ _ / \ / \ - Deck Two = Sniper Deck | \_ _ _ _ / \ / - - - - - - Sniper Deck This deck is quite popular for Teliko. Card List ( MGA16 ) Firstly I have arranged the cards in order in which they appear in, in the "Gallery Mode". The first number is the cards gallery number, then there is the cards name followed by the Cards cost and then what pack the card belongs to. And finally you have the Function of the card and any other additional effects. This is how the cards will look like. --153-- VAMP 6 -- MGS2 Function -- Half of the damaged dealt by user is added to the user's life. Additional Effects - None The 153 stands for the cards number in the Gallery followed by the cards name. The full card list for Metal Gear Ac!d. Enjoy 0-------------------------------------------------------------0 IV. Conclusion ( MGA17 ) a. Review ( MGA18 ) DETAILS Publisher: Konami Developer: Konami Platform : Playstation Portable (PSP) Genre : Strategy, Stealth Players : 1-2 The Metal Gear Solid world is a huge francis that has sold million and billions of copies worldwide and even more playstaions so it was without a doubt that everyone would be thrilled to hear of news that Metal Gear Solid would be comming to the PSP. However as more people learnt more information about the game people begun to worry and when it was annouced that Metal Gear Ac!d would be different to the other Metal Gear Solids (Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid: 3). To add further insult to injury not only would it not tie in with the Metal Gear Solid storyline it wasn't even going to be directed by Hideo Kojima! Would Metal Gear Ac!d be a postive, new direction for the Metal Gear francis or would it tumble into the fiery depths of hell. Lucky for us the answer is a big fat YES! Unlike previous Metal Gear Solids Metal Gear Ac!d ditches the old formula and replaces it with a new stragtic, card based system that sees all of your actions be based on a deck of cards. MGA takes all the best features of previous MGS games and implants them into MGA execpt in a card kinda way but don't worry it works. For example you can use CQC ( close quarters combat ) from MGS3 and the famous cardboard boxes are back. You play most of the game indoors and the game itself is set in the year 2016. There are a few outdoor locations although nothing like Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater. It's the many indoor sections that true Metal Gear fans will instantly recongise - cold, metallic corriders, abondoned warehouses and stocked ammo dumps and they have all been captured perfectly on the PSP. The guards move through their excellent animated routes and blocks of C4 expolde in a satisfying way. The cut-scenes are also excellent and so are the Codec conservations but it's a shame as they don't feature any voices but you will quickly get used to it. Sure the graphics look nice but they could of been fixed up a notch. The graphics are somewhere in beetween Meta Gear Solid on the Psone and Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes on the Gamecube. All the weapons return from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and all the weapons from Metal Gear Acid as well as some from Metal Gear Solid 3. The sound is great and you will on more than one occasion find yourself trapped in your own world surronded expolsions, gunfire and other simalar sounds from the Metal Gear world. However there are a few things wrong with MGA and only a few. Trust me the pros outweigh the negatives. The camara angle has been re-adjusted but there are times when the camara angle can block your view. MGA is also slower than most MGS games but that is not to worry. I feel as if a normal, typical MGS game would not suit the PSP and a card-based stratgey MGS would not suit the PSP but I am happy with how Metal Gear Ac!d plays and can't wait until Metal Gear Ac!d 2 comes out! ++++ + Great variety and use of cards + Postive new spin + Story Mode ---- - Camara - May disapoint some fans - Nothing else really. Rent or Buy First? Rent The Lowdown Graphics - 9.2, Solid but could do with a bit of polshing. Sound - 10 , Excellent MGS sounds. Gameplay - 9.1, Excellent card-based game but may disapoint some fans of the series. Lifespan - 10 , Excllent story mission as well as two player and loads of cards! Overall - 9.6, A excellent game and is definatly a diverting experince. b. What Next? ( MGA19 ) Well after completing my MGA FAQ I will update this FAQ if there are major changes. I am then going on to do a Boss FAQ. for Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater and hopefully for all the MGS. I will also probaly fit in a character FAQ for WWE Here Comes the Pain ( Yes I know it's an old game )somewhere in there and that will keep me busy for a while. c. Metal Gear Ac!d 2 ( MGA20 ) I was told by my freind of the name MR. MATH WRITER that: Metal Gear Ac!d 2 = Metal Gear Ac!d x Metal Gear Ac!d Now finding little bits off news here and there is a sneakyy little job but because of how good my real life stealth skills are I have been able to find information on the new Metal Gear Ac!d 2 ( alright I lied I read this info on the offical webpage and in some magazines). The squel to Metal Gear Ac!d features a new fanatsic cel-shaded look that is odwn right awesome. Metal Gear Ac!d 2 will feature the same card-based stragety as in Metal Gear Ac!d and is supposed to be double the length of MGA. You can now also build more stragities easier and betterly and there are also more card types. From my understanding there has been no relase date for MGA 2 but when it is relased you can bet that I will be there to FAQ it. d.
