4/18/05 (v0.5) - Started the Walkthrough. Finished first three sections and the
last one

4/19/05 (v1.0) - Finished up all of the sections except for one (will finish
puzzle mode help tomorrow). Submitted it into Gamefaqs.com!

4/20/05 (v1.5) - Started and finished the puzzle mode section.

5/20/05 (v2.0) - Got a little busy so didn't update for a month. So I added how
to beat the clear all section and started on the about skins
section up to "Shake Ya Body".
5/21/05 (v2.5) - Finished the About the Skins section with every single skin
possible in the game
5/24/05 (v2.7) - Added another way to beat the Clear All puzzle.

7/26/05 (v3.0) - Added Clear All x2 and the Specs of the skin Water, Flower,

|2a. How to play|
-----------------

The object of Lumines is simple. You just have to get squares with two colors
(2x2 or greater). An example is here:

(Note: there are many other pieces but these are the main blocks. The other
pieces are shown below)

There are also special blocks in the game. They look like little green
diamonds inside a piece. If you see one of these get the same color pieces
connected to it and make a square. This deletes all the pieces.

--------------

The controls in this game are simple. If you've played Tetris before (and I'm
SURE you have), then the controls should seem familiar. The area of play is
bigger than Tetris, but the games are literally the same. Now back to the
controls. The controls in the standard mode (the mode you start the game with,
I'm guessing most will play with this) are X and Circle rotate the piece
clockwise (towards the right), Square and Triangle rotate the piece
counter-clockwise (towards the left), and the Directional-Pad (D-Pad) controls
the piece. (Note: pushing down on the D-pad gains you more points, but up
doesn't do anything)

Depending on how you want to play Lumines, your button configuration can change.
Here are the options you can choose from:

Type A: Triangle and Square turn block counter-clockwise, X and Circle turn
block clockwise

Type B: Square and X turn block counter-clockwise, Circle and Triangle turn
block clockwise

Type C: L turns block counter-clockwise, R turns block clockwise

(Note: You can't use the Analog stick in this game. Also the D-Pad is always to
move pieces)

1P mode: Play by yourself for points, fun, or time constraints

2P mode: Play wirelessly (within 50 or so feet) against a friend (game played
like Vs. CPU)

Vs. CPU mode: Play against the computer for speed and combos

Puzzle mode: Create shapes asked for you within the time limit

|4) 1P Mode |/

If you don't have a buddy with the game or another PSP lying around in your
house then this is probably what you'll be playing. There are 3 different
modes of play from just free-play to speed play to strategy play. Each is
for different things and you can even earn things from each game! The first
game you'll probably play is challenge mode and I shall describe it now...

|4a. Challenge Mode|
--------------------

From the opening page (not the one you get when you first turn the game on the
next one) go to 1P mode. From there it says Challenge Mode. Its simple..just try
getting blocks of the same color at least 2 by 2. You get more points for moving
pieces down faster or get more than a 2x2 block. For each time the skin changes
you earn that skin (possible skins posted later in this section). If you have no
room and you try bringing a block down and it's stuck above the board, you lose!

|4b. Single Skin Mode|
----------------------

This is the game you play when you need to relax. You don't have to stress,
about points, just pick a skin (you've already earned) and just play as long
as you want or you lose.

|4c. Time Attack Mode|
----------------------

This game you have an option to play for 60 seconds (1 minute), 180 seconds (3
minutes), 300 seconds (5 minutes), or 600 seconds (10 minutes) and you try
getting as many blocks as you can in the amount of time given. If you average
50 blocks per minute, you'll win the character given out.

This is the mode you play when you have someone to go against. You can
play someone head to head within around 50 feet. The point of this game is
to beat your opponent with combos and speed. You can't earn anything so its
just for fun :)

|6) Vs CPU Mode |/
--------------------

This game requires speed, combos, and skill. The amount of difference in
characters faced may make you go crazy, but worry not, you will prevail
eventually. If you beat one character you earn a character and skin. However,
if you lose later on, you don't get to start from your last win and you have
to start the process all over again.

|6a. Strategy|
--------------

In this game you want to make as much combos as you can in the fastest time,
but not too fast, you want to make sure its a smart move. For every character
you beat, you earn their skin and their character.

In this mode, you are given a puzzle to work out with the pieces. You have
a certain amount of time to do so. Be sure you dont have 2 blocks adjacent
unless you actually want them to for the shape. (no 2 of the same color
if it messes with shape!)

For example: the first puzzle you're supposed to make a small cross so if
you got a piece like this one

after that.. wait for two pieces that look like this

This puzzle you must make a cross that is 3 lines up and 3 lines across.

O X O best time is 10 seconds so 60 seconds should be easy!

This puzzle you make a tiny square that is 3 by 3 with the different color
to that you're using in the middle like so

X O X Once again you get 60 seconds and it is simple just like the
X X X cross. My best time is 8 seconds so it should take one try :)

This puzzle you make a cross more or less that looks like this:

This puzzle you make a shape that looks like a dog. Here is the actual

This is on of the harder ones (believe it or not) but it's still simple. The

X O X O seconds. Just be patient and you should get it

This puzzle you make an alligator! You have to make a creature that somewhat
looks like an alligator

O O O O O X O You get 100 seconds to finish this puzzle. If you get 2 blocks
X X X X X X X the have only 1 opposite piece face them both like so

My best finish is 13 seconds so it should be simple

Now it's time for the harder puzzles....

|7h. Create 4x4|
----------------

It's time for one of THE hardest puzzles in the game. create 4 x 4. This puzzle
is SO difficult I'll tell you the strategy to win. First you need two pieces
that look the same that are either:

After you get these pieces (and choose which color you're doing) face it so the
one "oddball" color is facing up in either direction (make it to where the two
pieces have the full colors along the outside. Then get a piece cut in half with
the two colors and put it in-between the pieces. Here is what it should look like
so far:

After this get more split pieces and put them along the outside. Once again wait
for pieces that have the color you want face it inside so your puzzle should look
like this so far

X O O X As you see you have 6 places left. Wait for the full piece to
X O O X come. When that piece comes scroll it to where you can put it
X O O O O X into placefast. You need to be fast in this so then it can fill
X X X X X X it. Make sure you wait until the timeline has FULLY passed the
puzzle until you put the full piece in. Then rotate the pieces
fast so you can fill the top of the square with only a certain
section. Here is what it should like like with 3 seconds to
spare from the timeline

X O O O O X takes me a lot of time. it took me 50 seconds so you have to be

This puzzle you must make a smile that would look like =). Here is what the shape
really is

X O X You have 120 seconds to complete this puzzle. Although the concept
O O O of the puzzle is simple, the time it takes to make is more than 30
X O X seconds. It took me 50 seconds to beat it. This should be easy to
O X O complete probably even on your first try.

This puzzle you make a horse that almost looks like the giraffe you made earlier.
The only significance I've seen is the horse is bigger (for some reason..)

O O O X X Seems simple but it can be a pain. You get 120 seconds to finish
O O O X O and thats MORE than enough time. All the puzzles from here on out
X X X X O will probably take 50 seconds to complete.

|7k. Arrow Up|
--------------

This puzzle you make an arrow that faces up towards the sky! This puzzle (I smell
a spoiler!) as well as the other arrows coming up are a rather big pain. But once
you know the general strategy, you should probably overcome.

O X X X O You get 150 seconds to do this puzzle and although it is tough, it
X O X O X is still easy. It took me 35 seconds to complete it so I'm guessing
O O X O O if you're this far it will be the same.

|7l. Arrow Left|
----------------

This puzzle you make the same arrow only tilt it so it's facing towards the left.

O X O O O Again 150 seconds to complete. This one I found easier than the arrow
X X X X X up but its still rather difficult. I've gotten this puzzle done in 30
O X O O O seconds so it's possible to finish fast if pieces are coming your way.

|7m. Arrow Right|
-----------------

This puzzle you flip the arrow a little more 180 degrees so if faces to the right.
Don't worry.. only one more arrow after this (only 1x anyways)

O O O X O This arrow you have to do the opposite of what you just did in order
X X X X X to make the arrow face the different way. You get 150 seconds to do
O O O X O it and i've finished in 30 seconds. Good luck!

|7n. Arrow Down|
----------------

This puzzle you rotate the arrow ONE MORE TIME so it faces the ground. It looks
likeall the rest of the arrows except it moved a little bit. Don't worry, this is
your last 1x arrow for puzzle mode.

O O X O O This is actually one of the harder arrows for the fact you have to
X O X O X complete the tip of the arrow correctly before you can do anything
O X X X O else. You get 150 seconds and once more (like the other arrows) my
O O X O O best is 30 seconds to complete. Let out that sigh of relief, you
beat all the arrows. Feel proud! But the hardest is yet to come...

--------------

This puzzle you make what looks like a figure 8 but is known as the infinity
symbol. It's a rather complicated shape and you are more than halfway done. Thus
the puzzles after this will be rather hard.

X O X O O show the pieces you'll need. if you put a full "O" piece it would
X X X X X ruin the shape and put you in a hole. You get 150 seconds to
O O X O X completethis puzzle and I've beaten it in 30 seconds.

---------------

Alright thanks to spacehaven, I have a strategy at beating Clear All. I figured
one out by myself also that works every time so there are 2 different ways you
can do the puzzle. (Note: I use X as the orange block and O as the white block)
You get 150 seconds to do this puzzle and both of these configurations make you
finish in under 40 seconds!

Configuration #1:

First off you'll get a piece like this

X O Just drop it anywhere

Your next piece is this

O O
O X You'll want to drop it to the right of the piece you had just dropped
so it looks like this:

O O X X
O X X O

Next, the piece is this

O O The two X's you see on the top just drop the block there but be aware
X X of where the timeline is so you don't mess up. Your puzzle SHOULD look
like this

The next piece after this is this

O O You'll drop this one on the two O's on the top row (the ones to the far
right) to make the the puzzle look like this

The next piece is

O O This piece you'll want to drop on the other two O's you didn't use
last time. Your puzzle will look like this now.

O X X O Now make sure you dont do anything because you're almost done. The
next piece is a full O piece so once the X pieces go away drop it in
the middle of that making the puzzle COMPLETE!

This puzzle you make a square that had the same color you have outside on the
inside in the exact middle. The shape is below...

X O O O X Make the outside kind of like how you did the 4x4 earlier. One
X O X O X difference is that its only a 5 x 5 square not fully filled. You
X O O O X get 150 seconds and this puzzle I can usually finish in 40 seconds.
X X X X X Good luck with it. It should be simple enough.

You make a capital "g" in this puzzle. This is probably one of the easier puzzles
you'll see in the later stages of puzzle mode. Don't worry.. there are only 8 more
x1 puzzles after this!

X O O O O As you can see, it's literally just a spiral so it is simple. You
X O X X X get 150 seconds to complete this puzzle. This puzzle is simple
X O O O X and has taken me 40-50 seconds every time to finish it.

---------

You're going to start to see aliens with this puzzle. You make a UFO ship to move
onto the next round.

O X X X X X O The key to beating this puzzle is being patient for pieces and not
X O X O X O X rushing through it. You get 200 seconds (more than 2 minutes) to
O X O X O X O finish this puzzle so you shouldn't have problems completing it.
Althought its easy, waiting for the pieces takes a long time so
it's taken me about a minute to finish the puzzle.

Time to make stick figures! This puzzle you make what looks like a deformed human
but is more like a doll to me.

X X X X X As you can see long legs and arms, small torso, small head. That's
O O X O O what makes it difficult. You need to be patient and wait for pieces
O X O X O again because this isn't a fly-by-night puzzle. You get 200 seconds.
O X O X O I found this puzzle easy to finish in that time and I completed it
in 20 seconds with pieces going my way.

This time you make a snake. The difficulty is there but the puzzle is still simple.

O X X X O X O Simple enough? It is. You get 200 seconds to finish it and this
O X O X O X O one was even easier than the human because you don't have to wait
X X O X X X O as much for pieces. It took me 20 seconds previously

Remember that small checker back in the good old days of easy puzzle. Add a little
bit more to that and you have your next puzzle!

O X O X O Very simple actually. You don't really have to wait that much for
X O X O X pieces (although I recomend you do) and you can finish quickly.
O X O X O You receive 200 seconds and this puzzle takes me a minute to
O O X O O finish because i wait for the pieces

You remember the very first puzzle you did? The one with the cross? You're doing
thatagain but you rotate it on its side and make it bigger

O X O X O It's simple because you get 200 seconds again! The puzzle patience
O O X O O is once again recommended but not needed. However it takes me a
O X O X O little more than 2 minutes because waiting for the pieces was
X O O O X difficult. The puzzle can be hard to do if you mess up.

Rating: Medium/Hard

Get ready for the last 3 1x puzzles. They are really hard and you'll more likely
than not have issues with them. Good luck.

|7x. Delete Over 20 Blocks|
---------------------------

There is no picture for this puzzle because all you do is wait for a special piece
(the one with the thing inside of the block) and line up pieces to get 20 or more.
The puzzle is really hard if you aren't quick on the lining up of pieces. You get
200 seconds to finish this puzzle and that should be MORE than enough time. It took
me 80 seconds to complete and that was because i was lining pieces up and waiting
for the one piece to finish quickly

Rating: Hard

|7y. Zero to Three|
-------------------

This puzzle I've had the most issues with. It took me about 10 tries before I finally
got it. You have to make the numbers 0,1,2,3 in the time limit. This sounds hard but
once you start making the later pieces while doing 0 or 1, it becomes simple.

X O X O X O O X O O X in 300 seconds! (that's 5 minutes but it's
X O X O X X X X X X X still difficult!) This puzzle is the hardest
X O X O X X O O O O X one in puzzle mode, so if you beat it, feel
X X X O X X X X X X X proud because there is an easier puzzle next.

This is your last 1x puzzle be proud you've gotten this far. Your last task is to do
that of the 4x4 square only have the outside with the same color.

X O O O X You have the same strategy as "Create 4x4" but its not that big. You
X O O O X get 200 seconds to complete this puzzle because it's simpler than the
X O O O X zero to three puzzle you just did. This puzzle took me 70 seconds to
X X X X X complete. Remember the strategy from the 4x4 puzzle because you'll
need to keep one side empty so the full square of the middle can fit
inside to fill the top correctly. Good luck!

feel free to email me. There is one simple strategy you can follow and beat x2 Mode
easily. When you have 1 piece left to complete a puzzle, wait until the timeline
gets close to the end then drop the piece FAST. The timeline reads the last piece(s)
and you keep the rest of the puzzle in tact. This works for most x2 puzzles.
