This is my first guide so feel free to email me any constructive criticism or comments! You can find my contact info at the end of the page. =============================================================================== General Info/Tips =============================================================================== - I assume everyone reading this guide is very familiar with the combat system. - Make sure to have all your magic and weapons fully upgraded, it will help with completing many challenges. If you need more orbs then I would recommend playing the Combat Arena instead of playing the game again, you will have to complete the entire game in order for your Red Orb count and upgrades to carry over into the Challenge of the Gods. - Only �Nocrates� and �Gear Up� have any sort of time limits so you can take your time on the other challenges. - The Athena Challenges are unlocked through two separate unlocks in the Temple of Zeus. =============================================================================== Ares Challenges [001] =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Six Ways to Die [002] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The challenge is pretty straightforward and the first chest is easy since there is nothing to bother you, but with each chest you open more enemies spawn to pester you. Their order is one Hoplite, one Rabid Hound, another Hoplite, another Rabid Hound and finally a Cyclops. I like to start with the top left chest (red) and make my way around clockwise. Once the Hoplites spawn wait for them to attack so you can counter, knocking away all nearby enemies and leaving you free to take the chest. Repeat this until you are at the last chest, in which case spam Scourge of Erinys three times to distract everything and make a run for it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Gauntlet [003] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are 3 waves to deal with on this one, fortunately the next wave will not begin until the current wave is completely dead. Wave 1: 8 Triton Lords and 9 Harpy Widows There are really two ways to do this, grab the $#@% out of EVERYTHING in this wave until it dies or fight like a real man! Make liberal use of [] [] /\ armed with Thera�s Blades to set everything on fire and to leave the bombs on them, this will keep the Triton Lords from attacking with their annoying unblockable jump and also make short work of the Harpies. If the Harpies are being a real pain in the ass just grab them for the instant kill. Wave 2: 3 Keres Wraiths and 3 Minotaur Brutes This is THE most annoying wave in the challenge. Again, make liberal use of [] [] /\ and Thera�s Bane, but beware this will cause the Wraiths to go underground! You will need to be extremely mindful of when they are about to lunge at you and dodge accordingly. I prefer to take out the Minotaurs first since they�re so big and hide the Wraiths, but whatever you do for the love of god USE THE CIRCLE PROMPTS! Both enemies yield green orbs! Wave 3: 6 Satyrs and 2 Armoured Cyclops For the most part this wave is easy, just stay clear of the Cyclops� attacks as they�re quite damaging. Abuse [] [] /\ with Thera�s and dodge often, you should have an easy win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nocrates [004] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This one is tough and you�ll almost always cut it very close when you complete it. Immediately open up with Scourge of Erinys to distract the Soldiers and follow up with [] /\ /\ /\ directed at the box. Do NOT use Scourge again as it will take too much time to summon, instead try to be creative by using L+/\ to damage any Soldiers around you. Beyond that there�s really not much to say, you just have to keep going for the box and hope you kill it in time. Once it breaks though you have to open a chest! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unscathed [005] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are four waves of enemies to defeat split up as so: 1 Cyclops, 4 Gorgons, 8 Fire Harplings and 8 Cursed Wretches Wave 1 � Just keep your distance and hit the Cyclops with [] [] /\, he will eventually go down. Using Thera�s Bane helps too as the bombs stun the Cyclops, keeping him from attacking. Wave 2 � The Gorgons don�t actually attack, they use their freezing beam and a grab attack almost exclusively and won�t ever damage you. Try to keep the damage fairly evenly spread out between the two, since once the first one goes down the next wave will start. Wave 3 � These guys are annoying but not too difficult, just be very careful with their dive bombing attacks and keep moving with rolling when you need to. If you can I highly suggest grabbing a Gorgon so you can turn the Harplings into stone, it will instantly kill them. Once the Harplings are down (but not necessarily the Gorgons) the next wave will begin. Wave 4 � The Spiders are a huge pain in the ass as they have a ranged attack. Your best bet is to run right into the middle of the group and use the Horn of Boreas to shatter as many enemies as you can. You�ll probably end up using your entire magic meter but you should only be left with a few enemies at most. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gear Up [006] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There isn�t too much to this challenge. You start off the fight against a single Automaton with the other two joining shortly after, however you can almost kill the first one before they spawn. Keep an eye out and dodge their attacks whenever you can but you don�t need to be too concerned with your health, each one you kill will refill you completely. =============================================================================== Athena Challenges [007] =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Airborne [008] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You face off against two Triton Lords in this challenge. Start by launching one into the air (hold /\) and air grab it (mash O) until it dies, which will leave you with about 4 seconds to spare. Immediately after you kill the Triton Lord start spamming Scourge of Erinys, it will keep you in the air for the last few seconds. If you need to try again ONLY fight undamaged Triton Lords, if they are even the slightest bit hurt they may not survive long enough to complete the challenge. Just kill them off if you are in doubt, they will infinitely respawn. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground Pounder [009] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This one is simple, use Scourge of Erinys three times to distract all the enemies and Combat Rush one Triton Lord down, then Hyperion Rush one to death. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guard Break [010] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Horn of Boreas is the weapon of choice here. Once all the enemies spawn, run right into the middle of the group and hold the D-pad up until the shields break. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ricochet [011] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This challenge is a bit tough since deflecting ranged attacks is not common in Ghost of Sparta, unlike in the other games. You have to wait until just after the Hoplite Archers release their arrows before you block with L in order to deflect the arrows, however they have a very specific rhythm that if you can match will make the challenge easier. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fear Kratos! [012] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oddly enough this challenge took me the longest to figure out. There are 10 civilians that must cower before Kratos and they are only counted if they are crouching down, not when they are running. Run around until every civilian is aware of you and not walking around calmly, then stand in a corner and wait. Eventually everyone will crouch down in fear. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frozen in Flight [013] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Same idea as �Guard Break� here, run right into the middle of the 5 Ravens and hold the Horn of Boreas down until they freeze. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Magic Maker [014] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only way to get magic in this challenge is to decapitate the Gorgons and it will take eight kills to do so. I found using the Arms of Sparta works well as you can use it to single out one Gorgon at a time for the decapitation. Don�t worry too much about the other enemies in the arena, the AoS will knock them back if you use the [] [] [] combo and decapitating the Gorgons will keep them frozen as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bone Crusher [015] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Block, wait for the Cursed Remains to attack, then grab. It takes three grabs to kill one skeleton, so just rinse and repeat FTW. =============================================================================== Rewards [016] =============================================================================== Congratulations! By beating the Challenge of the Gods you have earned... absolutely nothing.
