Tomb Raider: Legend Hints for PSP

I'm new to this game. At the beginning, I presume i'm on a hill top. I can see where I need to go, further up the rock face, but can't work out how to do it. I think I have to push the boulders towards the rock face as there is a ledge further up, but if I try to move he boulders near by kicking them, they just roll into the water. Can anybody help me please?!
