Are there any requirements for enjoying the Palace?

Does anybody know if there are any and if so what they are please.

I have managed to get through the dark cave and into the palace gardens but can't find a way into the palace itself.

I didn't have to go into the palace. All I did was swim around, and when I used the conch to call the tribe to the place. It then said I had "enjoyed the palace."
