What is the deal with sand credits...are they used for anything or what, I got like almost 500 now, and I don't know what they do

They just unlock some dumb stuff under extras like pictures but the only worth while thing is the video gallery( after you beat the game ) and the first vid is the only good thing (bloopers)
To get invincibility and dark prince anytime u want I know because I beat the game
