Ahh, good question. The very rarely used capture, is an art in itself that may require you to prepare for a hunt in a completely different way. Now first off, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you can't capture the elder dragons, the traps don't work on them. However you can capture the large and small wyverns to your hearts content! Let me explain just how this is done: First things first, you're going to need to bring some things with you, if you're a gunner you're going to want to bring sleep shot Lv.1 or Lv.2,(Lv.1=huskberry+sleep herb, Lv.2=Sm bone husk+sleepy fish) or for your bow, sleep coating.(empty bottle+sleep herb) If you're a blademaster kind of fella like me then you'll need to bring tranq bombs (bomb material+tranquilizer) or sleep throwing knives.(throwing knife+sleep herb) Now, either way you're going to have to bring traps, shock or pitfall traps will work.( shock trap=genprey fang+trap tool)(pitfall trap=net+trap tool) You can bring one of each but you can also bring materials to make more which I recommend. Now, in order to capture a monster first you must weaken it...considerably. Usually right before they're limping is when they're ready to go. When that moment comes all you have to do is put down a trap, wait for the creature to enter it, pelt it with a sleep item that I mentioned earlier and there you go, you've captured a monster! Now if you want to make this even easier, you can get an armor set with the percieve ability. That will tell you when the monster is ready to be captured by changing the color of a dot on the screen. It makes things much easier believe me. Theres a few advantages to capturing a monster as opposed to killing it. One, you get way more rewards and two, those rewards have a better chance of being much more rare. Its a great way to get Hvnly stuff for G-rank weapons and armor. Alright, this has been mr.monsterhunter's guide to capturing. Thanks for asking!
