It depends on where you are. If you're fighting it in the fortress, you should use anti-dragon bombs on it. Also, use ballista s and cannon s on it. You can only use the dragonator once in the fortress.

If you're fighting it in the town, use all of the supplies given to you and more. Find ballista s and cannon s to use on it too. The dragonator can be used every ten minutes, so take advantage of that because it's very powerful.

Now, if you're righting it without a bowgun or bow, attack it's legs until they all turn bright red. I usually attack the legs one at a time. If you attack them one at a time, just cycle through the legs over and over again. Eventually, they will return to normal so that's your chance to make them red again. Quake resistance help a lot, but you don't have to have it.

The fastest way to beat this monster is with dual swords, take mega juice to stop your stamina dropping and devil dance away!

First pick a leg, wait for it take a step, move in and devil dance. As your attack ends it will step again, move after it and devil dance, continue until the leg turns red, when it does move onto anouther leg.

After all the legs are red, continue the attacks until each leg is flashing red, when they are all flashing the monster falls down, move in and attack it's body, the legs will return to their normal colour.

You will have to do the same thing again to kill him, good luck on the hunt!

I beat the gaoren at town I use a fire attribute and a focus on one leg and it always fall down and have a good timing at using the giant spear

i was one leg away from killing it that means because it was its second time flashing and it tore down the place and i used rex slicers

I have tried and tried and tried and the thing WON'T DIE!!! I keep using a heavy bowgun shooting everything at it and it will not die.

Fastest way to Shen Gaoren is with a hamer/axe. Thw Ceanataur Head Axe works great against Shen Gaoren with a minute to spare after you kiil him bt you must use at least 10 shot of Ballista

You can use the Shining Wyvern blade or another fire long sword like the Lunastra "Lion Emperor Saber". Start from town grab bounce bombs, large barrel bombs, and get 10 ballistas. Go to position at the ballista and wait til you see him. Shoot ten ballistas either at his legs or at his body/shell whatever. Get down there and combo one leg until you get your spirit gauge up and use your spirit combo. Wash Rinse Repeat. His leg turns red you Go to another leg. That leg turns red you go to another leg, until all legs are red and you knock him down. Be sure to dodge roll out of the way when necessary, and use your whetstones when your sword is not sharp. When he falls down cut his face and use the same combos with the spirit combo that you've used on the other legs. Use your bombs when you feel like it, they're useful but not absolutely necessary. Dragonate if you get a good moment but if you don't, then focus on those legs. They're his weakness

Use a weapon with over 900 attack(I am using sieglinde)it is better if your weapon is 1000 attack(use mega demon drug,power seed or power pill and power charm)then you attack the legs until all of them is light red will cause it to fall (3 of the legs are light red and 1 of the legs are dark red also can cause him to fall)when it fall,(the legs will change back to normal)whack it's face and do it again and again until it's dead.I hope this helps!

Listen you need to get the final black katana with my stast it has a permanante damage of 1200 and a long purple sharpnees bar it is not g class either it requires lots of bug stuff killed ukonalose with it so it kill the goren wit ease the first stage of the blade is black katana

Alright I'm HR9 and I have beaten the game and I can personally say from my experience the BEST way to do this is with a hammer. I personally used the gunhammer and upgraded it so it was more powerful. Basically all you have to do it's attack one leg at a time when the leg turns red move to the next. When all 4 are red keep attacking 1 leg until it turns a brighter shade of red and repeat with the other 3 legs. Once all 4 are bright red pick any leg and keep attackin it eventually it will turn it's normal color and the shen gaoren will fal to the ground from there attack it's head until it gets back up. Just repeat this process till it's dead. I did it in 20 minutes

I don't think you should use a hammer cause you waste alot of time charging and getting up after each combo. I suggest use dual blades where the attacks are coming almost endlessly to him which makes it alot easier. Use the black dual blades with dragon element, he is weakest to that. You will just need the ballista shots and the dragonater. The dragonater resets every 10 minutes so use it wisely. Since I used the black dual blades, the first leg I was fighting turned red more faster.So you don't have to wait for one leg to just turn dark red,it turn a more bright pink alot quickly.

Im hr3 and I killed shen by useing Titernia (which is made via valkyrie blade) it has dragon element, just hit one leg till it falls over then hit it's head with a charge attack then combo,hit it with asmany balista s as possible also use the dragonator every 10 min, in your armor have an attack up (hi), if possible have S seiries armor. I was fighting it then Time's up.
I continued attacking it for 1 minute because of objective cleared time limit.
Then after one minute it died Lol I haven't carved anything yet.
I used flaming pair dual swords because of it's dragon attribute.Then full blango set for the quake resistance.

I went through the town and gathered bombs and ballista s. I used the kirin thunder sword. When it comes down just keep whaling on it's legs. When it stands up use the ballista to skewer it. First you hit the lowest joint until it turns red, then the upper joint near it's body. After that it turns bright red. When it falls down, either use the ballista on it's face or hit it until gets back up. Then use the dragonater. Good luck

If you want to kill shen gao ren in state of crisis or
Approching gao ren.

Use any sword that have these elements:

Dragon
And
Fire

Do not use a weapon that have :

Water
Thunder
Ice
Elements

I use any kind of sword cause I'm experimenting how to kill it but I always use duel sword or lang sword

You must bring the following items:

Potoin
Mega potion
Max potion
Bounce bomb
Small bomb
Large barrel bomb
Large barrel bomb+
Mega juice(if you use duel sword)
Farcaster (to go up easily to use dragonator)
Bomb material 5only
5 exishroom
Whetstone

When you are in the fort if it's leg can be seen don't use barrel bombs you must only use it in the final

First attack the legs one by one you must turn all in to red then redder when you attack agian
If you are allmost the brige go to the grige and wait cause he will attact the brige with pincer chop
After the pincer chop
Go to the middle of the brige when hes shell is so close to you jump then use anti-dragon bomb
And carve when you are down attact the legs agian if all legs are so glowing red it well fall and it's your chance to attact the head

When almost in the fort watch uot cuase hes ganna attact with the charge and stop him by hitting the leg
When in the fort use all of your ballista
When it is going to attack the fort use the barrel bomb+and do it agian untell it die

I got kirin bolts but when I turned his legs to red he just standing up and walk and walk.. I got him downed but not killed so.. Any good advices..??

Use the strongest duel blades and any thing to up your attack use mega juice for stamina and then hammer the crap out of it's legs and face then use the dragonator and ballista

I defeated that crab one time using my bow, my bow is ceanatur bow 2 I strike him in the head with the weapon ballista and the dragonator and it took me 13 minutes to figth him. And it's hard to be a blademaster you need a quake resistance too.... But all you need is solved

Potion 10
Mega potion 10
Mega juice 5 and also the ingredients of it
And the rest are bombs, ballista and canon
And don't forget power berry.

I used the devil slicer and full Kirin armor and beat him first try. Just keep cycling his legs and hit him with a few barrel bombs and he is easy enough.

The best way to kill it is to use GS charge all legs w8 for it to fall and hit it at the head

Yes.... The best way to kill the gaoren is to use the rathalos sword..... I killed it many times using that sword.... However the titernia and the sigliende don't work on that crab.... And don't forget to use the dragonator twice....
