I'm confused -_-'

At the oblivion lake I did fought off all the creatures that were there but after that there wasn't any bridge that connects a new area to the north. Did I do something wrong? Also I fought a bunch of enemies in the cells and none of them drop any keys.

Also the elevator. Th elevator isn't there but when you look at the map for that room the elevator leads to some other room or something. I need help. I played this game twice and I'm still having that same problem

If the path doesn't open up at the Lake of Oblivion, then you've missed some of the enemies. Exit the area and re-enter, then check all the Lifestreams flowing upwards, without touching the save point.

After you defeat all the enemies, enter into the light, and you'll be in the jail area, where most of the enemies you defeat will drop Keys that open the doors ahead. You'll eventually get a key that opens the iron gate to the caged beast, near the save point. Defeat it and continue on.
You'll then be at the elevator, which you can ride down to the place where you insert the Materia into.

Lake of oblivion
Hard mode: life stream patern.. ( in order.. Entrance - middle - left - right - and the
Last at the save point)

Make sure 7 materia are in place. At genesis entrace leave it open for awhile
