Pokemon Yellow Team Rocket Listings

Throught the main storyline of Pokemon Yellow, your trainer will have to battle with the likes of Team Rocket. Team Rocket is the main antagonist group of the game, and it's up to your trainer to stop their evil plans. Unlike Red and Blue, Team Rocket in Yellow will be very similar to what you see in the Pokemon Anime Series (Jesse, James, Meowth). You will encounter them on five different occasions:

First Encounter - Mt. Moon:

You will first run into Team Rocket in Mt. Moon. They are trying to steal fossil, and you must stop them. Their Pokemon Teams are pretty weak; all of their Pokemon will be under Level 20. They will battle mainly with Zubat and Rattata, but will also use Sandshrew and Ekans. You will also battle Jesse and James at the very end of Mt. Moon.

Jesse and James' Pokemon: Level 14 Meowth, Level 14 Koffing & Level 14 Ekans

Second Encounter - Cerulean City:

The next place you will run into Team Rocket is in Cerulean City. There will only be two Team Rocket Members that you will have to defeat. The first is on the Bridge north of Cerulean City. He will battle you with a Zubat and Ekans. He will even offer for you to join Team Rocket. The other is found stealing a TM after breaking into someone's house. This Team Rocket Member will battle you with a Drowzee and Machop.

Third Encounter - Celadon City / Rocket Hideout:

The next place you will encounter Team Rocket is in the Game Corner in Celadon City. Team Rocket's Base is found below the Game Corner, and you have to battle through a wave of grunts. Team Rocket Members will battle with Raticate, Machop, Drowzee, Koffing, Grimer, Rattata, and Zubat (Between Levels 17 and 22).

You will also battle Jesse and James in the Rocket Hideout:

Jesse and James' Pokemon: Level 25 Meowth, Level 25 Koffing & Level 25 Ekans

At the very end of Team Rocket's Secret Base, you will be challenged by the Team Rocket Leading Boss, Giovanni.

Giovanni's Pokemon: Level 24 Rhyhorn, Level 25 Onix & Level 29 Persian

Fourth Encounter - Lavender Town:

The next place you will run into Team Rocket is in Pokemon Tower found in Lavender Town. Team Rocket has killed a Pokemon (Marowak) and has taken Mr. Fuji Hostage. The only Rockets you will battle in Pokemon Tower are Jesse and James at the very top of the tower. You will need to obtain the Silph Scope before you can make it all the way up Pokemon Tower, but Mr. Fuji will reward you with the Poke Flute after saving him.

Jesse and James's Pokemon: Level 27 Meowth, Level 27 Weezing & Level 27 Arbok

Fifth Encounter - Saffron City:

The fifth and final time you'll encounter Team Rocket is in the Silph Company Building in Saffron City. They have taken over the building, and it's up to you to work through the building and the Team Rocket Members until you reach Giovanni. The Team Rocket Members and Scientists will battle with Golbat, Zubat, Raticate, Cubone, Magnemite, Magneton, Voltorb, Grimer, Koffing, Weezing, Dewgong, Electrode, Machop, Drowzee, Ekans, Hypno, Mr. Mime, Kadabra, Arbok, Machoke, Muk, Sandshrew, and Sandslash (Between Levels 25 and 33).

You will also battle Jesse and James in the Silph Company Building for the final time:

Jesse and James's Pokemon: Level 31 Meowth, Level 31 Weezing & Level 31 Arbok

This will also be the last time you battle Giovanni as Team Rocket's Leader:

Giovanni's Pokemon: Level 35 Persian, Level 37 Nidorino, Level 37 Rhyhorn & Level 41 Nidoqueen

The next time you see Giovanni will be as the Viridian City Gym Leader, in what will become your final battle with him.
