Introduction

Pokemon Platinum, The thrilling and long-expected sequel/joint game to 2007's Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. With both Massive and Minor updates to different aspects of the game, such as the Pokemon, locations, Moves, Etcetera, you can be sure that Pokemon Platinum will seem like an entirely new game and easily triumph over it's 2007 counterparts.

Graphics

The graphics of the Pokemon games have come an unbelievably long way since the game series' debut, Pokemon red and blue. The graphics in Pokemon platinum are utterly superb Compared to past games, Including diamond and pearl. The realistic qualities the different areas around sinnoh possess is extensive, exciting, and above all else, Smooth and well designed. Every cave you step into, You can feel the dark and damp air. In the forest of eterna, The mist and fog shrouds your character, and you can feel the environment every step of the way. In the blistering snowstorms of Routes 216 and 217, The chill snow slaps you in the face and stings your every pore. The 3D aspects of the game help make everything so much more realistic. Upon entering the spear pillar at Mt. Coronet, The many broken pillars and statues nearly jump off the screen at you. In some aspects, Pokemon platinum's graphics beat out a fair few of the Nintendo Wii games, The console counterpart to the Nintendo DS. There is room for improvement, despite what I've said, However the ability to improve is diminished due to the DS itself, not quite being a high definition machine.

Sound

The generic Battle sounds from Red and blue have lasted through all 4 generations, changing only slightly with each new game. I think the sounds and music of Pokemon are the most outlasting and memorable sounds in my mind. Finding any sound more nostalgic and long lasting would be hard. However, despite the nostalgia and good times the sounds and music of the Pokemon games have with each of it's respective players, The music is still generic, MIDI sounds, with MIDI instruments, including drums, guitars, and synthesizers. Much room for improvement in the sound quality, but it still surpasses the expectations of most when purchasing a Pokemon game.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Pokemon Platinum is great. 10/10, 5 stars, Two thumbs up. I dare you to find a flaw in the plot, a glitch in the battles, Even a skip in simply walking around the various areas of sinnoh. When I purchased the game, I expected a simple remake of Diamond and pearl with little difference. To my surprise, I got a much different game that exceeded my standards and expectations. Granted, The Diamond and pearl experience was exhilarating in itself, But I found diamond to surpass that experience in a thousand and twelve ways. Mind you, one thousand twelve is a big number and would never fit into a review. So I'll just tell you, from your humble beginnings in the quiet town of twinleaf with you best friend, Barry, (Or whatever you choose to name him) To the Top of Mt. Coronet Fighting to defend Time, Space, and the known universe, Into the distortion world as you twist, turn, defy gravity and physics, desperately vying to find a way out and finally confronting the ruler of the distortion world, and the exhilarating experience of the battle frontier, It's a wild ride all the way through. The Game Never leaves you hanging, and is sure to Have you drooling for more, and on the edge of your seat in suspense waiting to see what happens next.

Lastability

I can assure you, Pokemon Platinum will last you a surprisingly long time. The game never gives up, seeing as there are side plots that will distract you from your main goal, as Well as the new areas opened up by finishing the main plot to begin with. Once the original plot is finished, there is an everlasting amount of things to do. You can even re-enact the entire plot on your own, using the vs seeker, which allows you to go back and re-battle trainers youve already defeated. There are even Pokemon you can obtain after the main plot that were previously un-accessible, Such as the fiery Heatran or The serene Cresselia. Besides training and strengthening your Pokemon, another main goal in the game is to catch 'em all, And to do that would take a great amount of time. In fact, it's an extremely difficult undertaking and will take hours of your time, but youll never lose interest in the game. Who knows, by the time the next Pokemon game comes out, You may still be yearning for that last Pokemon, and it will be just out of your reach. As well, The wi-fi adaptations of the game allow for a worldwide experience, and an extended lastability (as if it would ever end to begin with!)

Overall

Overall, The game is a great buy. Worth Every single penny and more. I really could not have asked nintendo for a better game to have released. In fact, I sometimes consider personally thanking them. The gameplay is impeccable, The sound is nostalgic, It lasts forever, and you simply can't put it down until You're about to pass out from exhaustion. Even I have trouble telling myself to go to sleep at night, when I'm locked in a heated battle with my Pokemon, reaching for the very top and to become the best. This game will not forsake you, I can tell you this instant. I encourage any fan of previous Pokemon games to get this game RIGHT NOW, if you have not already. And even the new to Pokemon are encouraged to purchase this game, great for any age or comprehension level. Hey, I started playing Pokemon red around age 4. In conclusion, this game is suspenseful, realistic, and addicting. A great buy for any fan or newcomer to pokemon.
