Last Updated:

First implemented in Pokemon X/Y, O-Powers make a return in Pokemon Alpha Sapphire / Omega Ruby. These are bonuses that you can give another player or use it on yourself. The benefits from using these powers range from temporary stat boosts, experience point boosts, money boosts or even speeding up the egg hatching or increasing / decreasing the encounter rate. The effects last for three minutes for most of the powers. You can even make them more powerful and efficient by increasing their levels up to LV3. You can increase the levels by regularly using the powers or giving them to other players. The exception are the Encounter or Stealth powers which you can't give their effects to other players. (Because that will be trolling)

You spend energy points to use an O-Power which can be replenished over time. The rate on how the energy point is recovered depends on the number of steps you made in a day.

O-Power Recovery Rate Multiplier

  • x1: 0-1999 steps
  • x2: 2000-2999
  • x3: 3000-3999
  • x4: 4000 above

How to Obtain O-Powers

In Pokemon OR/AS, you need to head to Mauville City Pokemon Center and look for a man named Giddy. He's located in the upper right-hand corner of the building. After talking to him, you'll receive your first O-Powers. Giddy will leave and another NPC called Hipster will replace him. Talking to him to get three more O-Powers. Hipster will leave this time and will be replaced by the Bard. Listen to his songs to get a couple of O-Powers.

After listening to the Bard, another NPC called the Trader will arrive. You can exchange simple items like Poke-balls and Potions to him for Secret Base decorations. Doing this exchange will give you another O-Power. Finally, the Storyteller will arrive. Talk to him and let him tell stories about yourself to receive another O-Power.

Once you defeat the Elite Four, travel back to Mauville and talk to the Storyteller again. He will invite you to his home in Mauville Hills where you'll learn about a powerless man across the hall. Talk to that man and return to the apartment. After a short conversation and scene, you'll meet Mr. Bonding himself! You'll finally get the final O-Power from him before he leaves to other regions to distribute more O-Powers. .
