The new graphics and visuals are stunning, but the game story line, and after-game events are sadly lacking. Considering they removed possibly close to half the Pokemon available in this generation, and only had 5 legendaries in the game, none of which are recruitable, made things even worse. Also you only get a choice of maybe 5 starters, instead of the 20 or so in Explorers of Sky.

This was the game I got with my XL and I really enjoyed it. The 3D effect whilst inside and outside the dungeons is excellent and, once you take away the worse parts of the game, is very good.
My favourite parts of the game were the 3d effect, which is STUNNING, even in the cutscenes and a lot of the plot was excellent too, the Pokemon you encounter, the fact that you can choose who you start with, and there are lots of smaller things that I won't bother to mention. Finally, parts of the story are so moving and unexpected that a couple of times I just sat there for several minutes thinking "I so didn't see that coming. Wow"
On the other hand, some characters seem to lack a lot of depth and seem only to say things to keep the story moving. The story can be very disjointed at times and it can be boring just trying to get to the next part of the story.
But by far the worst part of the game is the motive behind going on the rescue missions. In the originals it was because your partner wanted to save people and, quite quickly, so did you. This really drew me in when I was about 10 when I played Blue Rescue Team for the first time. There were points in the storyline that made me actually cry. Being 10 I had had no idea it was coming, and it still makes my eyes water a bit today, but with this one, I got none of that. Without revealing too much, the 2 main missions are to 1. Save the world and 2. Build up your paradise. Let me explain. When you first arrive in the world of Pokemon, you meet your partner pokemon. Cutscenes blah blah blah and then they ask you to build a Pokemon paradise for all pokemon. By saving people, you can develop your paradise It seems to much like you are trying to save people for your own personal gain is this one. It just feels like you're exploiting people to me. In BRT they always seemed really happy and grateful when you save them but less so in Gates to Infinity.
I let my little sister play it for a bit and she really enjoyed it. So much so that I had to hide it from her so that she wouldn't keep stealing it.
All in all, if you have played the games before, I think that this one will be a bit of a let down, but if the mystery dungeon franchise is something you haven't played before, this one isn't bad to start with. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy this game, but I don't think it is as good as Blue and Red RT.

The story line is great. I love how it is a tricky game but it tells the truth too early in the game. If they added a larger storyline then it would be awesome!!! But the trick with munna and the bittercold is nice. If you played the other mystery dungeon games, then you would know that gurdurr was lying at the beginning of the game.
