I found the introduction very amusing, this first time I played I was a Torchic and there was a laughable question in which the answer somewhat get's to the narrator. However, my true player was the character Skitty, I'm not sure why but I found them very well to play as.
Out of most Pokemon games of it's time, the graphics were surprisingly good. I enjoyed seeing how the Garados looked slightly too big for one square on the mapping grid. Also, I liked the design of the houses, I found it to be quite rugged and yet to just have a 'homey' feeling to it.
The sound as well is surprisingly good. I find when one of the traps get set off I tend to jump with the thundering action. One minor take back however is the noise when you move from the selection slot options. The constant 'ding' sound does tend to be slightly annoying at times.
I loved the story and gameplay, it's one of my favorites in fact. The only other game along with this that I love is The legend of Spyro, Dawn of the dragon. It has a very good story and left me to tears at times of despair. It also made me laugh when there were comedic conversations going on. It also made me angry at some points, not with the game but with the characters in the game; I will not reveal what made me mad but I will say this: There are certain people who do not positively affect the story.
This game lasted long for me, about a year in fact. It most likely would have lasted longer if I hadn't traded it for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness. (I found this game to also be quite riveting.) It went through the washing machine a few times unfortunately, but always bounced back, being the bouncy adventure it's always been!
Overall, I thought this game was a very well planned and that the story and characters were realistic and at times emotional. It will carry your thoughts to a time when we didn't rely on electronics to solve problems; but friendship and team work. The ending in my opinion was very sad, but I enjoyed player afterwards. It made a tear or two reveal itself now and then and maybe a growl of grumpiness when I was defeated in a monster house, the possible giggle from the wide expanse of words and comments. In all, I felt very happy with the game and I enjoyed playing.
