Rival

Within Pokemon Blue, like all other Pokemon games, you will be challenged by your Rival throughout your journey.


Your Rival's Pokemon Teams Throughout The Main Storyline:


Professor Oak's Laboratory:

You will first battle your Rival right after you have picked your Starter Pokemon.

Rival (If you chose Bulbasaur) - Level 5 Charmander

Rival (If you chose Charmander) - Level 5 Squirtle

Rival (If you chose Squirtle) - Level 5 Bulbasaur


Route 22:

The next time you battle your Rival will be on Route 22, west of Viridian City. He has caught a new Pokemon and has trained a little.

Rival (If you chose Bulbasaur) - Level 9 Pidgey and Level 8 Charmander

Rival (If you chose Charmander) - Level 9 Pidgey and Level 8 Squirtle

Rival (If you chose Squirtle) - Level 9 Pidgey and Level 8 Bulbasaur


Route 24:

The next time you battle your Rival will be on Route 24, north of Cerulean City. He has caught two new Pokemon and has evolved another.

Rival (If you chose Bulbasaur) - Level 15 Abra, Level 15 Rattata, Level 17 Charmander, and Level 18 Pidgeotto

Rival (If you chose Charmander) - Level 15 Abra, Level 15 Rattata, Level 17 Squirtle, and Level 18 Pidgeotto

Rival (If you chose Squirtle) - Level 15 Abra, Level 15 Rattata, Level 17 Bulbasaur, and Level 18 Pidgeotto


S.S. Anne:

The next time you battle your Rival will be on the S.S. Anne. Three of his Pokemon have evolved since your last battle.

Rival (If you chose Bulbasaur) - Level 16 Raticate, Level 18 Kadabra, Level 19 Pidgeotto, and Level 20 Charmeleon

Rival (If you chose Charmander) - Level 16 Raticate, Level 18 Kadabra, Level 19 Pidgeotto, and Level 20 Wartortle

Rival (If you chose Squirtle) - Level 16 Raticate, Level 18 Kadabra, Level 19 Pidgeotto, and Level 20 Ivysaur


Pokemon Tower:

The next time you battle your Rival will be in the Pokemon Tower. Raticate is longer on his Pokemon Team, and he has two new Pokemon.

Rival (If you chose Bulbasaur) - Level 20 Kadabra, Level 22 Gyarados, Level 23 Exeggcute, Level 25 Pidgeotto, and Level 25 Charmeleon

Rival (If you chose Charmander) - Level 20 Kadabra, Level 22 Growlithe, Level 23 Exeggcute, Level 25 Pidgeotto, and Level 25 Wartortle

Rival (If you chose Squirtle) - Level 20 Kadabra, Level 22 Gyarados, Level 23 Growlithe, Level 25 Pidgeotto, and Level 25 Ivysaur


Silph Company Building:

The next time you battle your Rival will be in the Silph Company Building. Three of his five Pokemon have evolved since your last battle.

Rival (If you chose Bulbasaur) - Level 35 Alakazam, Level 35 Gyarados, Level 37 Pidgeot, Level 38 Exeggcute, and Level 40 Charizard

Rival (If you chose Charmander) - Level 35 Alakazam, Level 35 Exeggcute, Level 37 Pidgeot, Level 38 Growlithe, and Level 40 Blastoise

Rival (If you chose Squirtle) - Level 35 Alakazam, Level 35 Growlithe, Level 37 Pidgeot, Level 38 Gyarados, and Level 40 Venusaur


Route 22:

The next time you battle your Rival will be on Route 22 (once again). Since your last battle, your Rival has added another Pokemon.

Rival (If you chose Bulbasaur) - Level 45 Rhyhorn, Level 45 Gyarados, Level 47 Exeggcute, Level 47 Pidgeot, Level 50 Alakazam, and Level 50 Charizard

Rival (If you chose Charmander) - Level 45 Rhyhorn, Level 45 Exeggcute, Level 47 Growlithe, Level 47 Pidgeot, Level 50 Alakazam, and Level 50 Blastoise

Rival (If you chose Squirtle) - Level 45 Rhyhorn, Level 45 Growlithe, Level 47 Gyarados, Level 47 Pidgeot, Level 50 Alakazam, and Level 50 Venusaur


Pokemon League:

The next time you battle your Rival will be at the Pokemon League. Since your last battle, your Rival has defeat the Pokemon League and has become the Champion of the Kanto Region. Two more of his Pokemon have evolved, and all of his Pokemon have gotten stronger.

Rival (If you chose Bulbasaur) - Level 59 Alakazam, Level 61 Pidgeot, Level 61 Rhydon, Level 61 Exeggutor, Level 63 Gyarados, and Level 65 Charizard

Rival (If you chose Charmander) - Level 59 Alakazam, Level 61 Pidgeot, Level 61 Rhydon, Level 61 Arcanine, Level 63 Exeggutor, and Level 65 Blastoise
