Where to Find Solar

Solar is the currency used in Awesomenauts, and it can be found near a solar drilling site and collected by destroying droids, creeps, turrets, enemy Awesomenauts and by running into a stray solar cube lose on the battlefield. It is essential that you pick up as much of this rare element as you can as it enables you to buy upgrades and level up. Just by playing the game normally you will gain Solar, this is at a rate of 30 Solar every minute.

Sneak into Enemy Bases

The objective of Awesomenauts is to prevent the enemy team from drilling a rare element called Solar. To stop them from doing this you need to destroy their Solar drill which is located in their base and has 12,000 HP.

A good strategy if the enemy Solar drill is low on HP is to try and sneak into the enemy base to take it out. You need to be careful as the closer you get to the Solar drill the tougher the turrets protecting it will be. Once the Solar drill has bee destroyed you automatically win.

Experiment with Different Nauts Before you Buy

When you begin playing Awesomenauts you will have the choice of four nauts you can use. These four nauts are the 'Free Rotation Nauts' and they will change every Monday. It is recommended that you try as many of these free nauts as you can to determine which one best suits your playstyle and then buy the one you like the most. You can change the skins of the nauts you own by clicking the boxes on the bottom left of the screen.

Keep Moving

Make sure you keep moving in Awesomenauts as doing so will make you less predictable and also make it more difficult for the enemy to approach you safely. While you are moving around make sure you kill any droids and neutral Creeps you come across. Creeps wander a preset path back and forth and killing these creatures will give you 5 XP, 3 Solar and small Healthpacks that give 200 Health.

Take Advantage of Cool-Downs

Cool-downs skills in Awesomenauts are powerful abilities which once used require you to wait until the timer reaches zero before you are able to use them again. Always look to take advantage of cool-down skills by attacking the enemy while they are waiting for the timer to expire, so they can use it again.

An example of this is Coco whose Ball Lightning skill has a 5-7 second cool-down before it can be used again. It is during that time frame that you attack her, if you are unable to finish the job before she can use her cool-down skill again you need to withdraw and wait for another opportunity to inflict more damage. Keep doing this until she is no longer a threat and then move in and finish the job.

Zoning

A good tactic to employ in Awesomenauts is zoning. This is basically where you guard a zone that you are able to react before the opponent reaches you and counter attack. In order to do this you need to have good zonining abilities, these are abilities that are long range and have knock back properties. Two good examples of this are Raelynn's Sniper and Coco's Ball Ligtning.

All you need to do is keep an eye for enemies, then once they get close enough attack and damage them before they can reach you. If after attacking them they are still a threat you need to withdraw, if your attack has sufficiently weakened them to the point they are no longer a threat you just need to move in and finish the job.
