For example, if I want to find Key 2 of World 4 I would type "[W2K2]" in my browser's search box. Or, if I want to just go to World 3 and look at all the keys I would type "[WLD3]" in my search box. 1. Legal Information.....................................................[LEGL] 2. Version History [VERH] ############################################################################### December 21, 2008 - Version 0.75 - The first release of the guide. I believe that with some constructive criticism and more detailed explanations the guide has a lot of room to expand and is therefore not my desired version 1.0. I hope to have many ASCII art explanations from different users that will aid in showing the exact locations of keys. ############################################################################### 3. Introduction [INTR] ############################################################################### I'm very excited to make my first GameFAQs guide. I have been holding off mainly because I did not want to make a guide in which there were already tons of similar guides with the same info, nor did I want to create a guide that would take days and days to complete. I feel that this guide is short, but sweet in the sense that the information is useful because there are no other sources for it. I had a lot of trouble trying to find some of the keys, and with the help of some fellow GameFAQs members I was able to find them all. However, I wasted a couple of hours that I hope that you users reading this guide can save! After using this site for many years, it feels good to finally be able to give back. I've wanted to contribute something for so long, and here it is! However, since this is my first guide, I'm sure it will not be as good as I want. So if you have any suggestions, please feel free to email me. I love constructive criticism. Heavy, useless flaming, on the other hand, is unwanted...! This guide will simply give the best explanation I can for where the hidden keys are in each level. Obviously as more people read this and as I play the more, I will find better ways to explain each location and update the guide. If you have any ASCII creations that will aid in showing the location of ANY key, please email them to me at: [email protected]. You will most definitely receive proper credit and will be helping many readers! Good luck, and I hope you this will help you save some time! ############################################################################### 4. General Tips [GTPS] ############################################################################### 1) Change the difficulty to Very Easy. If you are key-hunting, there is no reason to be playing on a higher difficulty because any key found on Very Easy will be the same as a key found on Hard! Lowering the difficulty will allow you to take more damage without dying, that way you won't die when trying to get to some ridiculous area where you HAVE to take damage to get the key. 2) Use training mode until you have memorized each key location. At first I did not use training mode because it says "No Secret Keys." So I thought, "Wow, what's the point in even playing that if the keys aren't visible?!" But I later found out from an admin that the keys ARE visible, but any keys collected are just not SAVED. This makes a lot more sense and the description should be changed to "Collected keys not saved." Nevertheless, training mode allows you to waste continues and start from a specific world. 3) The keys are ALWAYS in the same place. 4) The keys DO NOT have to be collected all in one run through. You can play the game 20 times, collecting 1 different key each time, and in the end you will have all 20! ############################################################################### 5. World 1 Key Locations [WLD1] ############################################################################### ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Key #1 [W1K1] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When the blimps on the top of the screen start appearing, look for the second one. Inside it is the key. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Key #2 [W1K2] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right before the jungle area there will be a massive amount of enemies. Kill them all, one is carrying this key. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Key #3 [W1K3] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Located in the part right before the cutscene with 5 snake-like minibosses. The center 1 of the top 3 snake-machines has the third key. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Key #4 [W1K4] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Located in the area with the proximity mines and undestroyable circular blocks. After the "Energy Up" powerup stay towards the top and destroy the mines to remain on the top part, do not follow the normal path and go down. There is an enemy directly above a "Weapon Cooler" powerup that has the key #4. In between them are undestroyable circular blocks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Key #5 [W1K5] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT after the area with proximity mines and undestroyable circular blocks a LARGE enemy ship will approach you and there will be smaller enemies coming from above. Destroy the huge enemy ship before it leaves the screen and collect the last key. ############################################################################### 6. World 2 Key Locations [WLD2] ############################################################################### ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Key #1 [W2K1] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shorty after the narrator says "Time to improve your score. Go get 'em all!" there will be a large group of enemies approaching. The key is located in the enemy farthest in front. This enemy is in the middle, all the way on the left of the group and is the first one onto the screen. But be careful: If you don't kill it right away and it reaches the left side of the screen, it will retreat and end up behind the other enemies. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Key #2 [W2K2] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Located after the cutscene which occurs after defeating the 2 large drill-like enemies. If you're counting the mechbots, it is under the 5th one. Otherwise, look for a mechbot on a platform. It is being supported by a destroyable box. It is found after the screen starts moving a little faster and you are going through the "maze-like" area. If you pass the "S" then you've gone too far. CREDIT: 177kaede ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Key #3 [W2K3] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the "S" with the 3 stomping mechanisms going up and down, go towards the bottom. It is in a destroyable box with 3 light blue proximity mines to the left of it. It comes after he says "Be careful, this won't be easy!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Key #4 [W2K4] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After you go through a tight squeeze with 2 consecutive stomping mechanisms going up and down that are in a row, go downwards. This fourth key is in a destroyable box with 2 mines on each side of it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Key #5 [W2K5] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT before the boss there is a semi-large destroyable object on the ceiling. It contains the fifth key. ############################################################################### 7. World 3 Key Locations [WLD3] ############################################################################### ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Key #1 [W3K1] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the narrator says "Be careful, this won't be easy!" stay towards the top of the screen and destroy all the asteroids. There is a red circular spinning enemy in the middle of some asteroids near the top of the screen that is holding the first key. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Key #2 [W3K2] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the miniboss and after the first robot-like walking mech enemey, there is a destroyable object near the bottom of the screen. There is a small gap that you can go down and into the area where it is located. Inside the object is a key. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Key #3 [W3K3] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT After the 2 cylindrical stomping devices that go up and down, IMMEDIATELY go straight up. The key is inside a destroyable object on the ceiling near the top of the screen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Key #4 [W3K4] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You will most likely die getting this one. After 3 cylindrical stomping mechanisms, look for an area in which you can go down. There is a destroyable object at the end of this little passageway near the bottom of the screen. Inside it is key #4. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Key #5 [W3K5] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT before the boss area there is a destroyable object near the bottom of the screen. NOTE: You need to have at least one multi-shot powerup, a satellite powerup, or a shockwave because you have to shoot downwards. You cannot get in front of this object. It is directly below you. Destroy it and collect the fifth and final key of world 3. ############################################################################### 8. World 4 Key Locations [WLD4] ############################################################################### ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Key #1 [W4K1] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This key is located after the enemies that make the diagonal lines that go above and below you. There will be 6 larger circular enemies coming from the middle of the right side of the screen. These enemies break off into smaller enemies when destroyed. The middle enemy has the key. Destory them and collect the first key. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Key #2 [W4K2] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the narrator says "Time to improve your score. Go get 'em all!" try to kill the main groups of enemies. One has the second key. It should be fairly easy to get if you have max multi-shot with bow shot or a satellite. If it starts raining, you missed it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Key #3 [W4K3] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A little while after the flying rocks that you have to dodge start to appear, begin to stay towards the top-right of the screen. Eventually you will come across a lone circular spinning enemy that is stable sitting on the edge of one of the flying rocks. You must kill it before it gets too high to get key #3. Because the screen is moving so fast in a downwards motion this key is easy to miss. Try to hold down fire. Being on Very Easy helps a lot here because you can take more damage without dying. As an extra note, there is a line of smaller ships that will come upwards towards the lone enemy rock. Do not let them distract you. Stay towards the top right and fire at the key-holding enemy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Key #4 [W4K4] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This key is in the same area as key #3. After collecting the third key remain towards the top right of the screen. Eventually there will be a split and there will be a line of rocks that you can't pass through seperating the top and bottom. The top has mines. If you're on the top part, you're doing good. Shortly after this split there will be a line of 3 consecutive, stationary, smaller ship-enemies in a row, vertically. The middle one is holding the fourth key. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Key #5 [W4K5] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Located after the miniboss area (the 3 large ships that fire the yellow laser). Stay towards the top and middle-semi-right section of the screen. A random enemy is carrying the fifth key. Do not let go of fire. You must kill the enemy before it gets too high because then your ship cannot fly up to grab it. This key is fairly easy to obtain with max multi-shot and bow shot equipped. Find a spot on top of the screen where the fifth bow shot barely does not go off the screen. They should all be homing downwards. Then just keep firing and key #5 will appear. ############################################################################### 9. Frequently Asked Questions [FRQS] ############################################################################### If you have any question pertaining to this guide, shoot me an email at: [email protected] and I will post it here. Q: How do I unlock the 5th world? Do I need all of the keys? A: No, you only need to get at least 4 of the keys in each world. However, if you want the Playstation Trophy achievement, you need to get all 20 keys. ############################################################################### 10.
