This is my third walkthrough. I have an item breakdown for final fantasy mystic quest and I have a challenge walkthrough for final fantasy VII. Initial Equipment, No accessories, no materia challenge :). But this is my first real walkthrough. 2) Why did you decide to do it? I did it for the little guy. Seriously though, this walkthrough probably will not help out the high level golfers except for info purposes. Hopefully this guide will help the low to mid golfers improve their game to the next level. 3) I shot an eagle that scored more points than my double eagle, how is that possible? Actually that is very possible. The biggest thing that can influence your score is homing shot. You can get so many points from this alone it is ridiculous. Also, when you get a double eagle, you only get 500 points from it with no chip-in bonus. So that can be another reason why you think the total is low. 4) I finished a tournament in single challenge mode and the 2nd place score differs from what you posted in your walkthrough? That's why I said average. I played the tournament twice and I took the average finish of the 2nd place person. It is a guide to help you get an idea of how well you need to shoot. 5) I am having some trouble with getting loading screens. It looks like I am missing pictures, how did you get them? The easiest method is to do training mode. If you go to a course in training mode, you will always get one of two pictures for that course. Training method is the only way to get to the training course (which is 2 loading screens). The only problem is the game doesn't save. So when you get all the courses you need, play a quick 9 hole game so you save your data. 6) Does anything happen when you at least birdie every hole? No nothing happens. When I finally did it, I was expecting a parade in my name, but alas none was to be found. 7) On your course breakdown, you said I could reach the green in 2 and I wasn't able to get close? Chances are you are using the traditional method. I also made notes here and there what power is needed to have a chance. Since I used the advanced shot the whole game, traditional shot may suffer on a few things here and there. 8) I started playing a single player challenge match and half way through, some computer players have a score well above the average, what's up with that? Generally, there are a few computer players that will start off the game strong. When you get closer to the end, there score will start to get worse. 9) I am having real trouble learning how to deal with slope and wondered if you could give me any help or tips on how to deal with it? Yeah no problem, its actually a good question. Actually slope is probably the most overlooked part of the game because people will look at the yardage to the pin and the lie but not the slope. In the easiest term, the slope refers to how the ball is sitting. On a flat surface there is no slope. But the slope can face left and right which will angle the ball when it is hit ( I am sure you must have noticed this when you have played). You will need to compensate by aiming more to the left and right depending on the degree of the ball tilt. You learn through practice how much to compensate. Now the other tilt is up and down. This tilt effects the trajectory ofthe ball. If you are sitting on an uphill slope. The ball will have more loft in the air which in turn makes the wind have more of an effecton the ball. The opposite holds true if the ball is on a downhill slope. The ball will have less loft in the air which makes the wind have less of an effect on the ball. One of the biggest obstacles to learn how to overcome is compensating heavy wind, in a bad lie, while on a slope. This happens quite a bit and learning how to handle all of these elements all together is the key to becoming a great player. But like I said before, you will not be perfect overnight, it will take practice. Just so you know too. Sometimes you will be on a left handed slope and the wind will be blowing to the right. If that is the case, sometimes you can hit the ball normally because the slope will cause the ball togo to the left, but the wind will push it back right. Just remember to look at everything. 10) What is the most important stat, is it power? Yes I would say power is pretty important in the game. Obviously it can give you an advantage of reaching somewhere that others cannot. Power is not anywhere near as important as control. Control is the most important stat in the game. If your control stat is not good, the ball can land 6 feet to the right of where you were aiming even though you had perfect impact. Control is the only stat that can affect your game that you have no control over, no pun intended. Try to at least make sure you have an A in control. When you have high control, you will notice shots going more to the location you aimed at. 11) How do you do the grass throw? Push down on the D-pad. Only works on the drive when wind is displayed as ? (I know most of us know this but hey, its for the FAQ and the unknowing) Credit to Archizzy for posting this Q & A. 12) In your walkthrough you have Kratos having a mid trajectory, but I have him at a high, you need to fix that. Actually Kratos does have a Mid trajectory with standard clubs. If you increase the spin stat, you can raise your trajectory up higher. Using the turbo spin clubs will do that for you. Infinity clubs also raise spin, but not by much. ********************************************************************** CONTROLS AND SPECIAL SHOTS (CASS) Control What it does ______________________________________________________________________ Up Down Moves the camera up and down Left and Right Changes the shot direction Select Views the Scorecard Start Views overhead view of the hole and shot line X Begin Shot/Select Power/Select Accuracy O & Triangle Move camera back and forth Square Swap shot mode from normal to power (or full with 1WD) L1 & R1 Club Select R2 Change views (See Tips section for more info on this) L2 Change to drop point view Soft Reset During a round, press and hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + Start to return to the main screen. Works Offline Only. R3 (online only) If you are in a game room, you can press this button and it will erase all the players around you, so you will not see them shoot. This will be in effect the rest of the game. Select (Online in If you press select, while in a online lobby, it is a lobby) a shortcut to your message box and friends list (credit to ruipq for that) ______________________________________________________________________ When you take a shot there are three points that happen. The first one you do by starting the shot with the X button. Then the meter starts to fill up and you start your back swing. At this point you want to hit the X button at the furthest point in the back swing with the X button. When you do this, your swing will start to come forward. Hit the X button again at the point of impact to receive perfect accuracy. SPECIAL SHOTS There are special shots you can do in the game that will help you succeed. Below are the special controls you can use, how to perform them, and what they do when they are done correctly. POWER MODE Red Power Mode increases a club length while reducing control Blue Power Mode increases the 1WD length more while making control more of an issue. To spin the ball, press a direction button at the moment of impact. To do top spin, press the up directional button. To do back spin, press the down directional button. to do side spin, press the left or right directional button. ________________________________________________________________________ You do not have to press the button at impact, you can hold it down. You can hold it down and once you hit your power, you can hold down the opposite button. I should have wrote that before because this is a really easy method. Credit to JonnyZ for bringing that to my attention ________________________________________________________________________ Top spin has a low trajectory with less wind effect and skips off the ground. Back spin has high trajectory with more wind effect and generally stops when it hits the ground. Side spin curves either to the left or right and is useful when trying to avoid obstacles. SUPER BACK SPIN. (HOMING SHOT) Press the up button when setting power and the down button at impact. If you get a perfect impact, the ball will burn with blue flames and spin backwards on the green or fairway. Homing ball does not always work. Sometimes when it tries to home in on the hole it will lip the cup and leave you with a putt. Although it is rare for it not to work it is possible that it will not go in even though you did everything correct. CREDIT to GorgeousDre SUPER TOP SPIN (RISING SHOT) Press the down button when setting power and the up button at impact. If you get a perfect impact, you will hit a low flying top spin shot. This shot can also skip across water. SUPER SIDE SPIN (SPIRAL SHOT) Press the right or left button when setting power and the opposite at impact to hit a ball with super side spin. This ball will have an even bigger curve. SUPER DIAGONAL SPIN This is not describ0ed in the game, but it works on the same premise. You can obtain BOTH super side spin and super top/back spin by pressing diagonal one way and then the opposite way. Just like the above shots, you will need perfect impact to perform it. __________________________________________________________________________ This was added in by _Mace_ Just a few things I saw in the guide that I wanted to comment on. Red Power Mode = +10 yards Blue Power Mode = +0...25 yards (inclusive) You should note that Super Diagonal Spin activates Spiral Ball. Note that Rising ball is always active, whereas Homing ball is not. Not sure about Spiral Ball, but I've never seen it fail to activate when it strikes the pin. __________________________________________________________________________ ADJUSTING POWER AT IMPACT Instead of hitting the X button at impact. If you press the O button at impact, this will reduce your power by 1-2%. If you press the Triangle button at impact, this will increase your power by 1-2%. This is very useful when you are trying to correct a power mistake on your swing. Also, if you hit Triangle and your power is set at 100%, it will never go over 100%. HOMING SHOT If a ball is hit with Super Back Spin and it strikes the pin, it will home in one pin until it gets in the hole. You receive 10pts for a pin hit and an additional points for each time it hits after that. The first hit is 10, then 20, then 30 and so on. Just as an FYI, this does not seem to work at a short distance ( I think anything not used in approach mode or 1WD). RISING SHOT If a ball is hit with Super Top Spin and it strikes the pin, it will rise up the pin and fall down into the hole. SPIRAL SHOT If a ball is hit with Super Side Spin and it strike the pin, it will spiral around the pin and go into the hole. Very hard to pull off but very cool to watch. FLYER WARNING Okay so this isn't really a special shot, but if you land in the rough, a flyer warning could be on the screen. You will know because the percentages of how far your ball will travel will be highlighted yellow. There is a chance that when you hit the ball it will carry to about 115-120% of the club's potential maximum distance. If you get a flyer warning, check around to the club higher or lower to see if the warning turns off and use that club instead. ********************************************************************** MENU (MENU) Single-Play In this category is all the single player golf games you can do. However, Kratos' victory was cut short by betrayal, and now he turns his blades against all of Olympus... but first he'll seek the ultimate title... the God of Golf! Credit to Mace for finding that out. CADDIES HANNAH Age: 18 Country: USA Height: 5'2" Weight: 106 pounds Likes: Gym Dislikes: Coffee Profile: An energetic, high-spirited caddy. Hannah is the kind of girl who worries more about others than herself - which makes her fabulous at providing the right support her golfing clients need. If only she had the strength to hoist a golf bag without staggering under the load, she'd be the perfect caddy! BONNIE Age: 19 Country: Scotland Height: 5'2" Weight: 106 pounds Likes: Drawing Dislikes: Cities Profile: A sweet-hearted girl with bright eyes and pigtails. She's well known for her enthusiastic support, and many golfers find their nerves soothed by her melodious voice. Who knows - maybe hiring her as a caddy - can improve your handicap? TRENT Age: 15 Country: England Height: 5'4" Weight: 112 pounds Likes: Stamps Dislikes: Exercise Profile: Trent will cross any sea in pursuit of his dream to become a pro golfer; however, for now he's focused on becoming the best Hot Shots caddy. Never much of an athlete, he was drawn to the mental side of the game. Even when he's caddying, he sometimes forgets his duties and starts scribbling notes about course strategies. RINA Age: 25 Country: Portugal Height: 5'3" Weight: 110 pounds Likes: Shops Dislikes: Worms Profile: No reason to hide it: Rina is a favorite Hot Shots caddy. Her cool low-key style is a welcome trait, especially during tense moments. Unfortunately, she really HATES insects: it's all over when a bee comes buzzing around. Bug spasms and all, it's still hard for her to fit you in her busy schedule! EVA Age: 38 Country: Argentina Height: 5'10" Weight: 143 pounds Likes: Cooking Dislikes: Washing Profile: A former pro golfer, the striking, 5'10" tall Eva is a reliable, confidence-inspiring presence on the course. Blunt-spoken but cheerful, she likes to make people feel good about themselves and put them at ease. On the days she's not working, she likes to prepare a succulent Argentinean-styled barbecue for the staff. CLARK Age: 54 Country: USA Height: 5'7" Weight: 183 pounds Likes: Jokes Dislikes: Pipes Profile: A veteran caddy with 30 years of experience. Clark has worked in tournaments at all levels, even caddying for top tour winners. Though an excellent caddy, he's a bit theatrical as well, and loves to play the fool. He believes in keeping things fun and light, but when the game is on the line, he can provide the support a serious golfer needs. MARU-CHAN Age: 37 Country: Japan Height: 5'5" Weight: 159 pounds Likes: Cars Dislikes: None Profile: Maru-Chan has never caddied for another player, but this time he's agreed to give it a go. His sharp insight and golfing experience that's developed over the years on the pro tour will surely come in handy. While his demeanor might seem serious, there's no doubt that Maru-Chan will keep it light and breezy! ********************************************************************** TRADITIONAL VS. ADVANCED (TVSA) Hot Shots Golf decided to go in a different direction in the game by deviating away from the standard bar swing by a 3 point mechanical swing. Now I have played every Hot Shots Golf game there is, so when this new method came out, I was very upset. I loved the traditional method, but I did not want to give up 15-25 yds. on my swing. After giving the advanced method a hour of my time, I will not go back. Traditional vs. Advanced is one of the biggest decisions you will make. I made a breakdown to help you do that. ADVANCED PROS Higher power/distance than traditional Easier to chip in around the green Has a greater impact zone and is more forgiving. ADVANCED CONS Cannot dial in percentages; short game is a guessing game Adjustable Circle and Triangle has an almost useless affect on your power percentage TRADITIONAL PROS Can dial in percentages for easier close-to-pin shots. Adjustable Circle and Triangle button at impact has a little bit better adjustable percentage. TRADITIONAL CONS Less Overall power/distance than advanced Perfect Impact is required to shoot low because there is less room for error SPECIAL THANKS TO MOMOWheeler for having a great discussion with the benefits and cons to advanced vs. traditional. This was a great topic. *********************************************************************** LOYALTY (LOY) As you use a character more in the game, you will slowly build up the loyalty meter for the character. Each character starts at level 0 when you start or unlock them. The levels go from 0 up to MAX ( Level 13). I listed what happens at each level to help you figure out if you are close to getting something good to help out your game. LOYALTY LEVEL WHAT YOU UNLOCK _____________________________________________________________________ 1 Increase number of power shots 2 Can now adjust power with O and Triangle 3 Backdoor putt up 10%, extra costume 4 Homing and Rising Shots are now legal 5 Increase number of power shots 6 Backdoor putt up 10%, extra costume 7 Intermediate Clubs are now unlocked 8 Increase number of power shots 9 Backdoor putt up 10%, extra costume 10 Spiral Shots are now legal 11 Advanced Clubs are now unlocked 12 Impact Precision increased MAX Backdoor putt up 10%, extra costume _____________________________________________________________________ You can build more loyalty by playing longer courses rather than shorter ones. Also, you can look in the tip, cheats, and glitches section of this walkthrough for easier ways of building loyalty. You also build more loyalty by playing a harder course rather than an easier one. Credit to Bludwine2309 for that tip. *********************************************************************** UNLOCKABLE ITEMS (UNITEM) There are many ways you can unlock items in the game. Most points add stuff to your total and a few are negative. I have created a list of most of the points you will see to let you know how to get them. More than not, games can and will be decided by points. Action Done Points Received _____________________________________________________________________ Double Eagle 500 Points Albatross 500 Points Hole in One 400 Points Eagle 300 Points Birdie 200 Points Par 100 Points Homing Shot See Below for better description Land on green for eagle (within 3ft. away) 100 Points Land on green for eagle (3ft-7ft away) 90 Points Land on green for eagle (7ft-10ft away) 80 Points Land on green for eagle (10ft-15ft away) 70 Points Land on green for eagle (more than 15ft away) 60 Points Chip Shot in the hole 50 Points + 1 Point per yd. away Land on green for birdie (within 3ft. away) 50 Points Land on green for birdie (3ft-7ft away) 40 Points Land on green for birdie (7ft-10ft away) 30 Points Strike the Pin 30 Points Land on green for birdie (10ft-15ft away) 20 Points Hitting Fairway from Tee 20 Points Backdoor Putt 20 Points Water Skipping See Below for better description Land on green for birdie (more than 15ft away) 10 Points Land in Bunker -20 Points Land in Water -40 Points Out of Bounds -60 Points _____________________________________________________________________ Homing Shot will net you a ton of points (possibly). The more times it hits the pin, the more points you will get. You will get 30 points for striking the pin and 30 points for the Homing ball, then 40, then 50, then 60, etc. I have seen someone online get a homing ball hit the pin 9 times. Water Skipping works the same was as the homing shot in terms of points. The first skip nets you 10 points, then 20 points, etc. If you land in the water while doing the water skip, you will lose all your points. You do not get any points for chipping in the double eagle. After breaking down my double eagle points, it seems 500 points is the flat rate. Bastards. *************** Submitted by _Mace_ Minimum bonus putt comes at 32.8 feet, awarding you 50 points. Assuming that the rest of the distances follow the same rounded metric conversion as the initial bonus putt, the exact intervals would be the following. 36.1 ft - 55 points 39.4 ft - 60 points 42.7 ft - 65 points 45.9 ft - 70 points 49.2 ft - 75 points 52.9 ft - 80 points 55.8 ft - 85 points 59.1 ft - 90 points 62.3 ft - 95 points 65.6 ft - 100 points I also noticed you have rough values for the points circle when landing on a green. Here are those exact values, which I've actually tested to be sure about. Obviously these ranges also apply for landing on in regulation for birdie, so make those changes as well. Land on green for eagle ( 3.5 ft or less) 100 Points Land on green for eagle (within 3.6 to 6.8) 90 Points Land on green for eagle ( within 6.9 to 10.1) 80 Points Land on green for eagle ( within 10.2 to 16.6) 70 Points Land on green for eagle (16.7 ft or more) 60 Points As for Double Eagles, I think you should clarify that you still get points for Specials, as in risers, homing balls, flags, pinshots and spirals. You say 500 flat rate, and I know you mean that you just don't get the x points for x yards, but it kinda comes out wrong. This same trend applies for holes-in-one of course. (You also list Double Eagle and Albatross as different things in your table, I'd recommend just listing it like Double Eagle/Albaltross - 500 points, instead of showing as if they were two different things. ******* Thanks Mace for the info. *********************************************************************** TOURNAMENT AND MATCH RULES (TAMR) I listed the rules that you could face while playing a tournament or a match play game. Thanks man. *********************************************************************** COURSE BREAKDOWN (COUBD) I am going to add stuff on each update, hopefully, each course and how you should go about handling it. Below, I have a template that will show how you will look at the information. If you find any shortcuts or another method that you think is better, feel free to email me at Roughdawg4@hotmail.com with an explanation on how to do it. I won't talk about the greens that much because the pin can change location. I think for each hole there is about 5 locations. Try to take a look at the green before your shot to see where is the better place to land. Also, I obviously have no idea what the wind situation will be for you. So, when I make you a suggestion it is assuming no wind. Make more or less adjustments based on that. As an FYI, 9 Hole Out is Holes 1-9. 9 Hole In is Holes 10-18. During the course of the walkthrough, I will be using the advanced shot the whole time. So if you use traditional, you might have a little trouble doing some things I say. Also, if I give directions (ex. I say hit the fairway on the left), it assumes the regular course. So if you are on the long(mirror) tee make sure you do the opposite. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: What hole it is Par: Par for the hole Yards: How many yards away from the regular tee to the hole LYards: How many yards away from the long tee to the hole Elevation: How many yards up or down it is from the regular tee to the hole General: This is how you approach the hole with nothing special to it. This is the safe method. Shortcut: This is how you approach the hole being a little fancy. Sometimes it can be a normal shot, but most of the time you will have to be good and have a little luck to pull this off. Not every hole has a shortcut, so I will list it when it is applicable. Long Tee: I will write something here if I feel the need to. The Long Tee can add up to 55 yards more than the regular tee to each hole. Most of the time, this will not make a difference. If it does, I will make a note here. REMEMBER THE LONG TEE IS REVERSED. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ HIGHLANDS (HLND) This is the easy course. The only thing sort of hard with highlands is the difference between regular and long tee. On some courses the difference is huge. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 1 Par: 4 Yards: 357 Yards LYards: 378 Yards Elevation: 20.3 yard drop to the hole General: Make sure to aim straight ahead to the fairway. Try not to aim to far to the right side of the fairway because it might carom off into the bunker. Once you land on the fairway, just aim right at the green. Nothing too tricky here and elevation should not be an issue. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. Just watch out for the bunkers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 2 Par: 3 Yards: 169 Yards LYards: 177 Yards Elevation: 10.2 Yard drop to the hole General: There is an elevation drop to the green. Make sure you shorten up a few yards of the hole to make up for the elevation. As long as you get within 15 feet of the cup it should be an easy putt. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 3 Par: 5 Yards: 515 Yards LYards: 533 Yards Elevation: 7.4 Yard drop to the hole General: If you want the really easy and safe way to the hole aim to the left fairway. If you have a lower level character, you might have trouble reaching the green in 2 for an eagle. Make sure to shorten up the next stroke a few yards to make up for the drop in elevation to the green. It is very important if you are going to miss, make sure you miss with a little more power rather than less. If you accidentally use more power, you will have a longer putt shot, but at least the green is easy. If you miss short, you will end up in the bunker and you can kiss that eagle goodbye. If you can get on the green within 20 feet of the cup, the putt will be easy. Shortcut: If you want a shortcut, aim for the right fairway. Make sure to stay a little away from the left side of the right fairway. If you get too close, you will end up in the bunker. If you aim for the right fairway and hit it, you can easily hit the green in 2 shots with just about any character. Long Tee: If you try to go the general way now in the long tee, it will be even harder to reach the green. If you have a higher level golfer you will have no trouble. The shortcut is still really easy and if you take that, you will still have an easy time of getting to the green in 2. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 4 Par: 4 Yards: 434 Yards LYards: 462 Yards Elevation: 4.6 Yard drop to the hole General: Just hit it straight onto the fairway, no tricks here. If you have a higher level golfer, be wary of the bunker to the left. If you are not confident of missing the bunker, just lay it up with a nice drive of 260 yards to be careful. Once you reach the fairway, you will have a considerable drop to the green from the fairway. Make sure you shorten up the distance by 4-5 yards if there is more than a 10 yard drop. The green is pretty simple around the cup so just try and get near the hole. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 5 Par: 4 Yards: 392 Yards LYards: 423 Yards Elevation: 4.7 Yard drop to the hole General: Again, just drive it to the middle of the fairway. Be careful if you can drive it far, because there is a bunker on the left and right side distance about 280+ yards out. Once you hit the fairway, you can concentrate on reaching the green. The elevation isn't much, so just hit with a normal club taking the wind into consideration. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above, but now you do not have to worry about the bunkers with your drive off the tee. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 6 Par: 4 Yards: 298 Yards LYards: 315 Yards Elevation: 1.3 Yard up the hole General: Make sure you try and lay up so you are only hitting about a 200 yard hit. The reason you are doing this is so you can eliminate the guessing game with the approach shot. You can try hitting it farther, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you hit it 200 yards, you can easily hit the fairway and leave yourself with a nice 100 yard shot left. When you have that shot left, just add a little more yards to make up for the higher elevation. Remember, if the wind is powerful, it has a greater effect on shorter distance clubs. Shortcut: If you can at least shoot it 290 yards you will have no problem reaching the green in one shot. Just make sure you use a little more power rather than less because if you undershoot the ball you could end up with a bad rough shot or even worse landing in the water. Long Tee: You can almost forget about getting to the green unless maybe you have L.J. Kate and Anya might be able to pull it off, but you will be taking a big risk. Besides that, the general way does not change. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 7 Par: 4 Yards: 443 Yards LYards: 460 Yards Elevation: 17 Yard drop to the hole General: If you can afford it, make sure to use a power shot just to help avoid the bunker 230-240 yards out if you have weak power. After landing in the fairway, it should be a nice lay to the green. Make sure to lay off a few yards to make up for the drop in elevation to the hole. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Just be careful of the bunkers. Besides that, nothing changes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 8 Par: 3 Yards: 184 Yards LYards: 206 Yards Elevation: 7 Yard drop to the hole General: This hole is pretty easy. Just make sure to lay up a few yards because of the drop in elevation. The green is pretty easy, so just knock it on. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 9 Par: 5 Yards: 538 Yards LYards: 554 Yards Elevation: 13.6 Yard drop to the hole General: Reaching the green in 2 shots might be a little tricky depending on the character you are using. Power up your shot and shoot it on the fairway. Make sure to either aim for the center of the fairway or slightly to the right. If you get to close to the left, the hill will prevent you from shooting on the green in 2. The good thing about your second shot is there is about a 10 yard elevation drop so it will give you a few extra yards of reaching the green. There isn't too many obstacles to worry about, so you can take a shot for reaching in 2. If you get too close to the hill and you feel your club will not clear the hill, just aim to the fairway to the right so you can still make birdie. CURVE YOUR SHOT IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT HIT THE TREE. Shortcut: Long Tee: The eagle shot will be a little harder to get. If you have a character with weak power, you might need a little luck reaching the green. If you have a intermediate or expert character, it should still not be that bad. Remember to not get too close to the hill from the fairway. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 10 Par: 4 Yards: 399 Yards LYards: 419 Yards Elevation: 14.4 Yard drop to the hole General: When you aim for the fairway, aim for the center or a little to the left. Make sure you stay a little away from the bunker, so it does not find its way in there. After that, it is an easy shot to the green. The distance should be short, so mess around with the power button if you cannot find a distance you like. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 11 Par: 4 Yards: 424 Yards LYards: 459 Yards Elevation: None General: If you have a character with alot of power, be careful of the bunker on the left side of the fairway. Lay it up to 250-260 yards if you do not feel that confident about it. For your second shot, you should have some higher elevation to the green, so make sure to aim a little farther than the hole to make up the difference. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 12 Par: 3 Yards: 178 Yards LYards: 193 Yards Elevation: 8.1 Yard drop to the hole General: Make sure to shorten up a 3-4 Yards for the elevation drop. Make sure to make the putt on the green. The green is really slow moving, so even if you have a long putt, it should be pretty easy. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 13 Par: 5 Yards: 514 Yards LYards: 566 Yards Elevation: 3.8 Yard up to the hole General: Aim for the left fairway to the left side of the fairway. Make sure to not get to close to the bunker. Depending on where you land and if you have a weak power character, you might not be able to make it to the green in 2 shots. Just get as close as you can so you can have an easier chip for eagle. Shortcut: If you aim at the right fairway about 230 Yards out you can land right just before the rough. It is somewhat dangerous to do this, but if you can get a good lie, you can reach the green in 2 shots. Overshoot if you have to just so you don't hit the bunker. Shortcut2: If you have a character with about 285+ yards for power, you can still land on the left fairway but further down it. You would be aiming for the same spot for the above shortcut, but past it on the left fairway. This is relatively easy to pull off and will leave a really easy shot to reach the green in 2. Long Tee: The strategy for the general and the 2 shortcuts is pretty much the same. The general way might be a little harder for the little extra distance. Like before, if you have a weaker character, you might have some trouble getting the eagle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 14 Par: 4 Yards: 304 Yards LYards:345 Yards Elevation: 2.2 Yard drop to the hole General: This is an easy way to attempt this hole. If you lay up your shot to about 140-150 yard club, you can easily hit the fairway. Laying up to this amount also helps being able to easily avoid the tree in front of you. After you hit the fairway, you will still have another 140-150 yard shot which is still easy. Shortcut: You can possibly reach the green in one shot if you have a character that can almost drive 300 yards or more. It won't be easy, but you can be rewarded with your stupidity and balls here. Long Tee: Same as above except for the shortcut. You can kiss the shortcut goodbye with this long tee. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 15 Par: 4 Yards: 436 Yards LYards: 476 Yards Elevation: 7.9 Yard drop to the hole General: If you have a higher level golfer just aim for the middle of the fairway. If you have a golfer with about 260 or less, make sure you stay away from the bunker on the right of the fairway. Even if you have to lay up a little, it is always easier to reach the green from the fairway then it is from the bunker. When you aim for the green just knock it on as you would. The elevation isn't a factor here. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 16 Par: 4 Yards: 385 Yards LYards: 400 Yards Elevation: 7.9 Yard drop to the hole General: Pretty simple hole. Just aim for the fairway and avoid the bunker on the right side. When you go for the green, just aim normally. There is a slight elevation up, but considering we are using a low level iron, it shouldn't make much of a difference. Add an extra yard or two if you are picky :) Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 17 Par: 3 Yards: 155 Yards LYards: 177 Yards Elevation: 3.8 Yard drop to the hole General: Finally a par 3 that does not have a 10 yard drop to the hole. This is a really easy par 3 so just knock it on the green. The green is really easy, so make sure you make it on. FYI, if you are going for your 40+putt, this is a great hole to do it on. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 18 Par: 5 Yards: 552 Yards LYards: 594 Yards Elevation: 11.2 Yard drop to the hole General: Power up your shot and aim for the middle of the fairway. Make sure to aim a little to the left of the middle because if you get to close to the right side, you might not be able to clear the hill to reach the green for eagle. There is a nice down elevation to the green, so if you do not have alot of power, this will help you reach it. Not to much to worry about, so just try and reach the green for the eagle. Shortcut: None Long Tee: It is almost the same as above. Just going to be harder to reach the green. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ OKINAWA (OKW) The Okinawa Course is not that difficult. Watch out for the wind because it starts to pick up on this course. The difference between the long tee and the regular tee is very small. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 1 Par: 4 Yards: 368 Yards LYards: 380 Yards Elevation: 7.1 Yard drop to the hole General: If you are unsure you can cross over the water, just keep to the left side of the fairway. It is still a short distance. Make sure if you are taking a long shot to the green, to not get to close. If you do not get within 60 yards to the green, you are going to be left with an ugly approach shot (people with advanced shots). After that just knock it on the green. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above, just watch out for the bunker 260 yards out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 2 Par: 5 Yards: 536 Yards LYards: 552 Yards Elevation: 2.9 Yard up to the hole General: Aim for the right fairway just to the right of the bunkers. If you leave yourself with a decent enough shot, you have a chance of making it to the green in 2. Make sure to be careful of the water on the right. Remember, you will be shooting for a higher elevation, so if you have some doubts, birdies are better than hitting into the water. Shortcut: One obvious shortcut you see is hitting it on the left fairway. I would not recommend doing this. If you look closer, you can see there are trees everywhere and they are hard to avoid. It is possible you can pull this shot off, but it is very difficult. If you have around 270 yards of power, you can aim for the fairway just left of the bunker. This will get you close enough to get to the green in 2. Long Tee: Just hit it to the same spot as you did above (just left of the bunker). It will be hard to reach the green in 2 shots from this tee. Watch out for the water on the left side. If the hole location is bad, you might want to just go for the birdie. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 3 Par: 4 Yards: 341 Yards LYards: 351 Yards Elevation: 6.6 Yard drop to the hole General: Just aim straight ahead to the bunker. Be careful that you do not leave yourself a bad approach shot. Lay up if you need to because it will still be a short shot to the hole. Also, if there is alot of wind it will carry your approach shot. Keep that in mind. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 4 Par: 3 Yards: 151 Yards LYards: 165 Yards Elevation: 8.9 Yard drop to the hole General: Shorten up a few yards to take in the account of the lower green. Try to not overshoot because you will end up in a bunker. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 5 Par: 4 Yards: 401 Yards LYards: 415 Yards Elevation: 0.3 Yard drop to the hole General: Just hit it to the center of the fairway. When you setup your second shot, make sure you do not undershoot the ball. You might end up in the water if you do that. Another pretty easy straightforward hole. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 6 Par: 4 Yards: 426 Yards LYards: 439 Yards Elevation: 0.9 Yard drop to the hole General: Aim to the right side of the fairway, away from the bunkers. It will still leave you with a 150-160 yard shot to the green which is manageable. Now the approach shot is difficult. If you look at the green, it is not very long, so you do not have much room for error. There is a bunker at the bottom and top end, so there isn't a safe play here. Just aim the best you can. Shortcut: None. Long Tee: Same as above. Just don't get too close to the bunkers on the right. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 7 Par: 4 Yards: 447 Yards LYards: 461 Yards Elevation: 14.3 Yard drop to the hole General: Depending on how powerful your character is depends on how you will approach this hole. If you can hit it over 260 yards, shoot for the spot where there is 3 bunkers to your left and one to the right. Try not to use too much power because the elevation goes down and it might carry your ball into the rough. If you can't shoot that far, aim further to the left of the fairway. When you setup your approach shot, make sure to add some yards more because you will be shooting up to the green. An extra 4 or 5 yards should do. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same strategy as above, except maybe 270 yards instead of 260 yards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 8 Par: 3 Yards: 161 Yards LYards: 167 Yards Elevation: 27.7 Yard drop to the hole General: This hole has a tremendous drop. If there was no wind, I would shorten up here about 6-7 Yards easy. Make sure you adjust this figure depending on which way the wind is blowing. If the wind is blowing towards the hole, I have shortened up a whole club and even then it is too much power. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 9 Par: 5 Yards: 563 Yards LYards: 577 Yards Elevation: 8.5 Yard drop to the hole General: No secret here, just try to hit it as far as you can without getting too close to the bunker. If you can get a nice impact, you might have a shot of getting to the green in 2. If you have a character who can hit it 275+ yards, you will have no problem reaching the green in 2. The great thing about this green is the lack of danger. The bunkers are on the side and in the back. The worst thing that might happen is you land in the rough 30 yards away from the hole. Shortcut: None Long Tee: This is going to be really hard to reach the green in 2. Try and use a topspin shot for your tee shot. Usually, it will topspin and carom off the hill and roll your ball a good distance. It will still leave a long shot to the green, but at least it is a shot. If you can't drive it more than 270 yards, you might not even be able to reach the green in 2. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 10 Par: 4 Yards: 374 Yards LYards: 390 Yards Elevation: 16.5 Yard drop to the hole General: Another easy hole. Just hit it to the middle of the fairway and go for the green. Elevation is not a factor when going for the green on your approach shot. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above just watch for the bunker on the left 270 yards out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 11 Par: 3 Yards: 164 Yards LYards: 174 Yards Elevation: 9.1 Yard drop to the hole General: What is with the drops to the hole. At least this drop isn't that bad. Just shorten up a few yards to make up for the distance. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 12 Par: 4 Yards: 377 Yards LYards: 384 Yards Elevation: 6.7 Yard up to the hole General: Try to keep the ball to the center or the right in the fairway. If you get too close to the left side, you might have a tree branch in your way. Feel free to lay up to avoid the bunker. Your approach shot will have a higher elevation so make sure you add a few yards to your shot. If you have a strong wind blowing in your face, you might be adding 10 yards to your shot. Shortcut: None Long Tee: You might want to lay up in front of the bunker 270 yards out in the middle of the fairway. Nothing worse than trying to hit the green from the bunker. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 13 Par: 5 Yards: 595 Yards LYards: 604 Yards Elevation: 8.7 Yard drop to the hole General: Aim for the left fairway. So you know by doing this, you are pretty much giving up the idea of reaching the green for 2. Just hit your second shot as far as you can and it should leave you with a pretty easy approach shot to the hole. Shortcut: This shortcut involves hitting the middle fairway. What you want to do is hit the right side of the fairway about 250-260 yards out. There is a small room for error here, but if you can pull it off, you will have an easy 220 yard shot to the hole for eagle. If you can hit over 280+ yards, you can aim for the middle fairway when it starts to widen. Shortcut2: This shortcut involves hitting the right fairway. This is the easier of the 2 shortcuts as long as you have a clean 2nd shot. Try to knock on the fairway about 260-270 yards out (REGULAR TEE ONLY). This should give you a clear shot to the green for your second shot. Remember you can curve your shot if you are left with a bad view. Long Tee: If you go the general way, unless you are using Anya, Kate, or L.J., you won't be able to reach the green. For the first shortcut method, nothing will change. You still want to aim for the same spot. For the shortcut2 method, about 270-280 yards out is the spot you want to hit to have a clear shot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 14 Par: 4 Yards: 434 Yards LYards: 446 Yards Elevation: 7.5 Yard down to the hole General: Aim for the right fairway just to the left of the bunkers. This will help you avoid anything nasty and give you a good shot to the green. From here, it should just be a slight elevation up to the hole. If it is less than 2 yards don't bother making an adjustment. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 15 Par: 4 Yards: 441 Yards LYards: 450 Yards Elevation: 9.2 Yard up to the hole General: Just aim straight ahead and shoot it over the bunker. If you are a little daring, shoot it over the water. When you go for your approach shot, it will be a high elevation shot (probably 10 yards up). Not considering the wind, you should at least be shooting 8-10 yards farther than the tee. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 16 Par: 3 Yards: 198 Yards LYards: 190 Yards Elevation: 9.6 Yard down to the hole General: This hole isn't that bad because there is nothing around to be worried about. If you screw up and go a little long or short, at least it won't hit a bunker. Shorten up a 4-5 yards for the dip in elevation. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 17 Par: 4 Yards: 389 Yards LYards: 403 Yards Elevation: 3.4 Yard down to the hole General: You have two options here. You either make sure you shoot over the bunker, or you lay it up before the bunker. It does not matter which one you choose because either way it is still a short approach shot. For the approach shot, you might have some slight elevation up to the hole. Make sure you add a yard or two to the stroke. Add a couple more if you need to make sure you do not land in the bunker. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. Lay up if you think you can't avoid the bunker. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 18 Par: 5 Yards: 539 Yards LYards: 549 Yards Elevation: 1.3 Yards drop to the hole General: No shortcut here, just whack it as far as you can down the fairway. If you try and go for the green, make sure you don't undershoot it so it will land in the water. The green is on a higher elevation, so make sure you add 4-5 yards to your swing. As long as you can knock it 265+ yards, you should be able to make it to the green. Shortcut: None Long Tee: The long tee is only 10 yards further than the regular tee. If you could make it on the short tee, you can do it on the long tee. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ EURO CLASSIC (EURO) Finally, the difficulty starts getting a little harder. This course is a little harder than Okinawa. Also, in this course you get a few options where you want to hit the ball. I will make sure and break them down for you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 1 Par: 4 Yards: 437 Yards LYards: 450 Yards Elevation: 0.8 Yards up to the hole General: Aim straight away to the fairway. Watch out for the rough and bunker 270 yards out coming out into the fairway. Once you hit the fairway, you will have a slight elevation up for your approach shot. Just add a few yards to make up the difference. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 2 Par: 4 Yards: 384 Yards LYards: 458 Yards Elevation: 3.9 Yards down to the hole General: Aim to the right of the fairway. You will be left with a really long shot, but it is the safe route. Once you land on the fairway, it will be a 200 yard shot to the hole. The good thing is elevation is not a factor. Shortcut: This will help you get really close to the hole. If you want aim directly at the fairway just to the right of the hole. Put some spin on the ball to the right to avoid the building. It might not get you an eagle, but at least it will help ensure getting that birdie. Make sure if you are aiming this way to get within 60 yards for an easier approach shot. Long Tee: The shortcut isn't really going to work on this hole. Try hitting the ball on the right fairway. It is pretty simple and it there is no obstacles to avoid. Win win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 3 Par: 3 Yards: 181 Yards LYards: 220 Yards Elevation: 1.7 Yards down to the hole General: Nothing important here, just hit it on the green. Be careful to not undershoot the ball though. It might go in the water or the bunker. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 4 Par: 4 Yards: 297 Yards LYards: 372 Yards Elevation: 3.7 Yards up to the hole General: Lay it up to about 200 yards off the tee. This will give you a nice big fairway to work with while still only leaving a 100 yard shot to the hole. When you start lining up your approach shot, you will have an elevation up to the hole. Since you will be using a 9 iron or possibly lower, only add a yard or two for elevation. Shortcut: If you have a character than can hit it about 280+ Yards, you might be able to make it on the green in one shot. The good thing about this hole is if you miss, there isn't too much consequence. Long Tee: Forget getting on the green one shot now. Just follow the directions of the general strategy and you will be fine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 5 Par: 5 Yards: 578 Yards LYards: 609 Yards Elevation: 0.6 Yards up to the hole General: Aim for the left fairway. If you want to get a little further down the fairway, just curve your shot to the left to avoid the trees. Unless you have a character with some nice power, it will be really hard reaching the green in 2 shots. What makes it really hard to go for the green is the water all around the hole. If you screw up for miscalculate even a little bit you will land in the water. There is no shame to laying up for the birdie :). Shortcut: If you are crazy like me, you can do this shortcut. You need at least 275 yards, if not more, to do this. Aim for the right fairway, right in between the 2 buildings. If you can get a decent shot, you can easily reach the green in 2. There will be a few trees in your way, but if you curve your shot you should be able to avoid them. If you are not sure you can avoid the trees, aim for an easier part of the green. You are still doing better than anyone going the regular way. Just make sure to not hit the trees, because if you do, you probably will end up with a par. Long Tee: Okay if you want to go the general strategy way, you can kiss the eagle goodbye. It is too far, and for that matter too dangerous to try and make it. Now if you still want a shortcut you can pull it off. If you can hit it 270+ yards you can do it. You are going to aim for a spot on the far top left fairway. To help you figure out where you should aim, you should be aiming at a spot where you can see 3 trees right in front of you. 2 to your right and 1 to your left. In fact, the middle tree should almost look like you would hit it with a straight shot. Curve your shot left so this doesn't happen :). If you hit it right, you should see a little clearing in the trees right to the green. Make sure you spin it whatever way you need to make the green. The good part about this way is the low relative risk of landing in the water. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 6 Par: 4 Yards: 463 Yards LYards: 492 Yards Elevation: 1.5 Yards down to the hole General: Aim over the water right onto the fairway. The furthest point of the water only goes out 200 yards so no worries here. Once you land on the fairway, you will have a nice easy shot to the green (depending on the hole location). If the hole location is on the right side of the green, watch out for the trees. Shortcut: None Long Tee: It takes about 230 yards to clear the water now, which can be done easily. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 7 Par: 3 Yards: 150 Yards LYards: 172 Yards Elevation: 7.3 Yards down to the hole General: Just shorten up a yard or two for the dip in elevation. Just don't undershoot the ball too much or you will end up in the drink. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 8 Par: 4 Yards: 371 Yards LYards: 406 Yards Elevation: 1.3 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the left corner of the fairway about 260-280 yards from the tee. This is a nice big spot of the fairway and a good lie for an approach shot. From here you will have about a 5 yard elevation up to the tee. Make sure to add 3 yards to your stroke to make up for it. Shortcut: None Long Tee: It might be harder to aim for that corner now. Just aim straight ahead on the fairway and lay up if you have to. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 9 Par: 5 Yards: 554 Yards LYards: 582 Yards Elevation: 6.7 Yards down to the hole General: No shortcut to this par 5, just really long. Aim right down the fairway and use some topspin to help your carrying distance. If you got a good drive or a decent character, you should be able to make it to the green in 2 shots. Make sure and curve your shot to the left if you think you might hit the tree. If you are going for the green, make sure to not land in the bunker right before it. This is a hard bunker to shoot from. Remember a 35 foot putt is better than a bad bunker shot. Shortcut: None Long Tee: You will need a strong drive to reach the green in 2. Remember to use topspin. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 10 Par: 4 Yards: 413 Yards LYards: 457 Yards Elevation: 17.5 Yards down to the hole General: Lay it up to about 250 yards onto the fairway (right before the 3 bunkers grouped together). This will leave you with an easy 160 yard approach shot to the green. Make sure to not undershoot the ball to the green. If you undershoot it too much, you might end up in the water. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above except you do not have to worry about laying up now. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 11 Par: 5 Yards: 544 Yards LYards: 592 Yards Elevation: 6.7 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the fairway about 260 yards out from the tee. The spot you should be aiming for is just right of the building in your way ( the spot you should aim for is about 1-2 inches to the right of the building on your television). With a little luck, just about any character can reach the green in 2 shots with the right equipment. Just make sure you curve your shot to the left or right to avoid the tree in your path. Don't undershoot the ball either or you might end up in the water. Shortcut: If you have a great superspin stat and you are a little dangerous, you can aim for the fairway right behind the building. You better use super side spin. If you pull it off, you will have an even easier shot to the green. Be careful though, you hit the building and you can kiss your round goodbye. Long Tee: Okay this hole is interesting. You can use 2 shortcut methods on the long tee. The first one (the easier of the 2), you can shoot it over the building in between the short left tower and the tall left tower. This will leave you will a relatively short distance to the green and an eagle is possible. Now for the really crazy method which can only be done with someone that can hit it 290+ yards, at least. You can still make it to the fairway behind the building. Curve your shot to the right, around the building, and you will land on the fairway. Just so you know, if you miss this shot you are screwed. The good news is the spot you are aiming for has a lower elevation so that helps a little. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 12 Par: 4 Yards: 362 Yards LYards: 373 Yards Elevation: 15.5 Yards down to the hole General: Aim about 260 yards out to the hole to get an easy fairway shot. If you are going to try to get really close to the green, make sure you reach within 60 yards of the hole. If you don't, you might have an ugly approach shot on advanced mode. No matter where you aim for, the elevation is pretty flat. Just take your time and hit it on the green. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above except it is about 270 yards now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 13 Par: 4 Yards: 459 Yards LYards: 470 Yards Elevation: 0.2 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the left side of the fairway where it stretches out. This is about 250-260 yards from the tee so you know. If you decide to do this, it will leave you with a very long shot to the green. By taking this route, you might not get a birdie, but you won't bogey either. Shortcut: Aim straight ahead right over the water. Make sure to power up. I think as long as you can hit it 260+ yards you should be able to make it over (depending on the wind situation). You Super Back Spin to make your ball height enough to clear the buildings. If you can land on the fairway, you will have a better chance of getting to the green for a birdie. Long Tee: Same as above except you will need 275+ yards to make it over the water now. If you decide to not go over the water, you will have a hard shot to make for birdie. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 14 Par: 3 Yards: 202 Yards LYards: 210 Yards Elevation: 5.4 Yards down to the hole General: Nothing to worry about here. Just shorten up a yard or two for the dip in elevation. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 15 Par: 4 Yards: 412 Yards LYards: 423 Yards Elevation: 10.7 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the fairway right before the water. Just make sure to lay up enough you don't land in the water or the rough. When you hit the fairway, it will be an easy flat elevation shot to the green. Shortcut: If you have a character that can hit the ball at least 285+ yards, you can reach the left fairway past the water. If you can do this, this will leave you can easy 130 yard approach shot to the hole. Don't worry about the ship, as long as you put backspin on it you won't hit it. Long Tee: Good luck getting over the water now. You will need a 290+ yard shot to clear it now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 16 Par: 4 Yards: 455 Yards LYards: 482 Yards Elevation: 4.2 Yards up to the hole General: Aim straight ahead to the fairway in front of you. Make sure to curve your shot to the left so you do not hit any trees. Depending on where you hit the fairway, you might be on a slope. Take that into consideration in your shot to the green. You should have slight elevation up to the green, so make sure you add a few yards to make up the difference. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 17 Par: 3 Yards: 155 Yards LYards: 223 Yards Elevation: 5.4 Yards up to the hole General: Some elevation up to the hole on a par 3. That changes the pace a little bit. Make sure you add about 5 yards to your swing to make up for the difference. Not as hard as you think, so just take your time. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 18 Par: 5 Yards: 547 Yards LYards: 620 Yards :( Elevation: 6 Yards up to the hole General: There isn't a shortcut, but you have two options to choose from. You can either hit it on the left side of the fairway or the right side. If you take the left side, make sure you do not hit it past 280 yards or you might end up in the rough. Also, curve your shot to avoid the trees. If you decide to do the right side, don't hit it past 260 yards or you might end up in the rough. It doesn't matter which one you pick because they are about the same shot. You will have an easier time reaching the green from the right side though. You will have a big elevation up to the green so make sure you add about 10 yards to your swing. If your ball at the furthest point is just touching the water, that is good. You will not reach that far due to the increase in elevation. Curve the ball if necessary to avoid the trees. Shortcut: None Long Tee: If you decide to take the easier right fairway, you will not be able to get an eagle. If you take the middle left fairway, you will have a shot of getting an eagle. There isn't much of a danger from this option either, so I would recommend it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ GREAT SAFARI (GRSF) This course will offer more slopes and harder greens to hit. Also, there is not many shortcuts to offer in this course. It is pretty easy strategy here, HIT FAIRWAYS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 1 Par: 4 Yards: 442 Yards LYards: 458 Yards Elevation: 9.4 Yards down to the hole General: Very simple, just knock it to the middle of the fairway. If you can drive it 300 yards, be careful of the bunker in the middle of the fairway. Move to a 3WD if you think you might hit it. After that, you are left with a real easy shot to the green. Don't get used to it. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above but you won't hit that bunker now :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 2 Par: 3 Yards: 173 Yards LYards: 185 Yards Elevation: 4.8 Yards down to the hole General: Depending on the hole location, this hole can be difficult. As you can see there is a bunker right before and after the green. The green isn't that big either. Try using backspin to help stick on the green. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 3 Par: 4 Yards: 422 Yards LYards: 472 Yards Elevation: 1.2 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the big section of the fairway about 250-260 yards from the tee. Just so you know, the area you are shooting at is slightly elevated. So make sure you don't undershoot too much and hit the bunker. When you go for your approach shot you should have slight elevation down. Subtract a yard or two. If you have a hole location on the left side, it will be difficult like the last hole. Again, there is a bunker before and after the green with not much green to hit. Make sure you hit the green. Even if you have a 20ft putt, it is better than trying to chip-in from the sand. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Forget the fairway advice from above now, just knock it on the fairway. Where you land should be manageable. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 4 Par: 5 Yards: 530 Yards LYards: 557 Yards Elevation: 9.1 Yards down to the hole General: Just power up and knock it onto the fairway. There are alot of bunkers at this hole, so be careful where you aim your shot. The real difficult shot lies with your second shot. This is a really hard shot because again you have a sand trap before and after the green. The reason it is even harder than the last holes, is you will need to use a wood to reach the green. So that means you have a small chance of getting the ball to stick to the green. If you stink at chipping in the sand, just lay it up and take the birdie. If you are okay at chipping in the sand, just go for it. At the worst, you might have a 9yd chip from the sand and that is manageable. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 5 Par: 4 Yards: 429 Yards LYards: 445 Yards Elevation: 8.5 Yards up to the hole General: DO NOT AIM REALLY CLOSE TO THE HOLE. I cannot stress this enough. You might be left with an extremely hard shot that will ruin your day. Aim your drive all the way to the left fairway or one of the 2 crooked circles in the fairway just to the left of it depending on how far you can drive. When you go to your approach shot, you should notice that you have a much higher elevation to shoot too. If you are using a SW, PW, or a 9 iron, add a yard or two to your shot. If you are using a higher club, make sure you add 6 or 7 yards to your shot. Try to not overshoot because it will leave you with a bad lie. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 6 Par: 3 Yards: 186 Yards LYards: 199 Yards Elevation: 8.6 Yards up to the hole General: Make sure you add some distance to the hole. I would say add 8 or 9 yards to your shot to make up the difference in elevation. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 7 Par: 4 Yards: 455 Yards LYards: 480 Yards Elevation: 7.9 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the left side of the fairway. If you get to close to the right near the bunker, you might have a big mountain in the way of your shot. If for some reason you find yourself in the path of the mountain, either curve your shot around it or move it to the side of it more so you can then curve around it. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 8 Par: 4 Yards: 445 Yards LYards: 457 Yards Elevation: 3.8 Yards up to the hole General: 2 bunkers in the middle of the fairway. Try to aim for 270 yards just to the left of the first bunker. By doing this, should help you land on the fairway even if your ball carries a little bit with a bounce. Now for the fun approach shot. You will have a high elevation shot for the approach. Make sure to add about 8 or 9 yards to your stroke to reach the green. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Just be careful of the bunker. A real safe spot is just to the left of the bunker right before the water. Remember for your approach shot too add alot of yards to the hole. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 9 Par: 5 Yards: 548 Yards LYards: Elevation: 7.1 Yards down to the hole General: Power up and hit it as far as you can. You should be able to make it to the green, but you should take note of all that water before the green. If you undershoot the ball just a little bit, you will end up landing there. Make sure you add a little extra power so you don't land there. Even if you have to add an extra 10 yards to your swing, you will still land on the green in 2 shots rather than trying for par if you hit the water. Also, some parts of the green have flat slope. So even if you end up with a 40 foot putt for eagle, you do have a shot of making it. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 10 Par: 4 Yards: 434 Yards LYards: 447 Yards Elevation: 3.3 Yards down to the hole General: There is a bunker right in the middle of the fairway on this hole. If you think you might have trouble avoiding it, lay up. If you can hit the ball 285+ yards, you should not worry about hitting it. After that, you have an easy approach shot to the hole. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 11 Par: 4 Yards: 422 Yards LYards: 466 Yards Elevation: 1.2 Yards down to the hole General: Another bunker in the middle of the fairway and some water. The water should not be a problem, but the bunker might be. Either power up if that helps you overshoot it or aim just to the right of the bunker. There is a good amount of fairway here that is easy to hit. After that you should have an easy shot to the green. Try not to undershoot it because you might hit a bunker. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 12 Par: 3 Yards: 171 Yards LYards: 195 Yards Elevation: 1.9 Yards up to the hole General: This is about as flat as elevation gets for a par 3. Add a yard or two just in case. Can't help you out more than that. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 13 Par: 4 Yards: 431 Yards LYards: 445 Yards Elevation: 17.1 Yards down to the hole General: The fairway is easy to hit on this hole. Just knock it on and aim for the middle. Your approach shot might be a little tricky. You should have a big dip in elevation to the hole. Make sure to shorten up 4-5 yards to make up for that. The green isn't as small as the first ones you come across in the course, but it is still difficult. Bunkers surround the green forcing you to make sure you hit it. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 14 Par: 5 Yards: 521 Yards LYards: 533 Yards Elevation: 3.0 Yards to the hole General: This is hard to explain but I will try and do my best. You want to aim just to the left of the pond but you should shoot over the first portion of it. Aim 260-275 yards out and maybe that should help with the location. If you have decent power, you should be able to hit it on the green from here. Remember to curve your shot if you need to. Although small, there is a fountain near the green of the hole and I have hit it countless times. If you feel it is a problem to reach the green in 2, just lay up your shot for the easy birdie. Remember if you have a high elevation shot, make sure to add some yards to it. Shortcut: Finally, a shortcut. If you can hit it 290+ yards, you might be able to pull this off. It is a risk, but it will be a great reward. Shoot over the pond and try to stay on the right side of the fairway. If you clear the pond and land on the fairway, it should give you a good line to the green. Make sure if you go for the green, to watch out for the water fountain. It is easy to hit it, so just make sure to avoid it. Long Tee: You will need 295+ yards to clear the water now, you better make a good shot. Besides that, same advice as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 15 Par: 4 Yards: 386 Yards LYards: 450 Yards Elevation: 10.0 Yards down to the hole General: Just knock it on the fairway. Try not to aim too close to the right side of any fairway. It might put you too close to some rocks or long grass you might hit on your approach shot. When you land on the fairway, it is a real simple shot to the green. Shortcut: You can aim into the rocks and the ball will come out maybe 60 yards from the green. It usually lands in the rough/bare ground but might be useful for novice characters. Credit to Violent J for that tip Long Tee: Much further distance from the tee, but still an easy hole. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 16 Par: 4 Yards: 424 Yards LYards: 452 Yards Elevation: 0.8 Yards down to the hole General: Just knock it on the fairway. Be careful if you aim for the fairway about 270 yards out. The elevation is higher so you might have some trouble reaching it. Make sure you can easily knock it on. Once you hit the fairway, you have another easy shot to the green. If the elevation is a little higher, just add a yard or two. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above, just watch out for the bunker. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 17 Par: 3 Yards: 187 Yards LYards: 201 Yards Elevation: 7.1 Yards down to the hole General: Do not undershoot or hot the extreme right side of the green. You do not want to land in the water in a par 3. Just remember, the balls natural environment is in the hole. :) Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 18 Par: 5 Yards: 553 Yards LYards: Elevation: 6.0 Yards down to the hole General: God I hate this hole. If you want to hit the green in 2 shots, you will have to aim for the fairway with all the bunkers in it. If you have a character with good control, this might not be that difficult. If you don't, good luck. If you are lucky enough to land in the fairway, it is not a hard shot to the green from here. Not many traps here either, so just knock it away and get that eagle. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SILVER PEAKS (SLPK) This course will be a test to see what you have learned up to this point. This course is very difficult with high and low slopes. Bunkers are prominent in this course. The good thing about the long tee is it is not much further than the regular tee so not much changes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 1 Par: 4 Yards: 435 Yards LYards: 445 Yards Elevation: 8.5 Yards up to the hole General: Just knock it on the fairway straight ahead of you. It is a little bumpy but you should be able to get it on there fairly easy. When you setup your approach shot, you will be shooting at a higher elevation. Make sure to add 5 or 6 yards to your swing to reach the hole. These are the holes you are going to have to take advantage of to have a good round. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 2 Par: 3 Yards: 181 Yards LYards: 199 Yards Elevation: 8.8 Yards up to the hole General: With no wind, you are going to have to muscle up and add about 7 yards to your swing. Make sure you account for the wind. If you wind is blowing in your face hard, you might have to add 13-15 yards to your swing just to reach the green. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 3 Par: 4 Yards: 455 Yards LYards: 471 Yards Elevation: 23.4 Yards down to the hole General: Make sure to look at the fairway before you knock it on. 270 yards out is a nice safe place to land at. Remember you are shooting at a lower elevation so your ball will travel farther. Now for the fun approach shot. You should have a 5-7 yard dip in elevation, so shorten your swing up by a few yards. When aiming for the green, try to not hit it past the green. You will end up in the bunker and that is never fun. Of course, if you undershoot it too much, it will carom off the hill and roll past the green into the bunker. I told you this course is awesome :) Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 4 Par: 5 Yards: 549 Yards LYards: 563 Yards Elevation: 0.3 Yards up to the hole General: This hole has a nice big mountain in your way for getting to the green in 2 shots. Just drive it along the fairway to about 250-270 yards out. This is a nice safe place to land. From here, aim to the left fairway and hit it along as far as you can. From here you have an easy approach shot to the green since both the bunkers are on the side of the green. Shortcut: Do not attempt this if your character has low trajectory, even mid is a gamble sometimes. What you want to aim for is a hill on the fairway about 230 yards out. The reason you are aiming for a hill is so you can clear the mountain to the green in 2 shots. If you land on the hill, you should have an easy time reaching close to the green. The reason I say close to the green is because it has a bunker before and after it. It will be hard to aim for a pin, depending on the location, but do your best. There is a little safe spot before the left side of the green so try and use that. Long Tee: The general strategy is the same. For the shortcut method, the hill is now 240-250 yards out from the tee. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 5 Par: 4 Yards: 386 Yards LYards: 401 Yards Elevation: 7.6 Yards down to the hole General: Make sure to not just knock it down the fairway as far as you can. There is a nice big mountain in your way to the green. Make sure to aim for the right side of the fairway so you have enough room to shoot over it. If you want a safer spot to shoot, aim for the fairway about 230 yards out. I like that spot. Once you hit the fairway, it is an easy approach shot to the green. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above except now the fairway is about 240 yards out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 6 Par: 4 Yards: 414 Yards LYards: 426 Yards Elevation: 26.4 Yards down to the hole General: There is alot of stone on this hole so be careful where you shoot it at. There is a nice spot in the fairway about 272 yards from the tee. You know you are looking at the right spot if you still have 150 yards to go to the tee from that spot. I know some people can hit it closer but what does it matter? 150 yards is not that far and it is a safe bet everytime. If you want to hit it closer, go ahead. I am just warning you. When you hit the fairway, you are looking at an easy shot to the green. Shortcut: By far the hardest shortcut in the game, this is a really good one. You can reach the green from the tee, but it will take some luck. There is 3 columns in the water that you can skip on to reach the green. You really should try this trick on training mode before you give it a shot in a tournament. It is really dangerous and can ruin or improve your round. Practice, Practice, Practice. :) Long Tee: The general strategy is the same as above. Unless you have a character that can at least hit it 300+ yards, you will not be able to do this trick anymore. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 7 Par: 3 Yards: 204 Yards LYards: 219 Yards Elevation: 2.9 Yards up to the hole General: The good news is the elevation is not too high so you only need to add a yard or two to compensate. The bad news is the green is not very friendly. Some of the pin locations are just plain nasty. Just shoot as close as you can and hope for the best. Just so you know, it isn't as difficult as I am making it out to be, I just want you to be careful. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 8 Par: 4 Yards: 431 Yards LYards: 443 Yards Elevation: 10.9 Yards up to the hole General: There is a nice big section of the fairway you can aim for with the bunker in the middle. From there, you will have a decently long approach shot with some elevation. Make sure to add a few yards to your swing to make up for that. The green is a nice size so you should have an easier time as least getting on it. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 9 Par: 5 Yards: 562 Yards LYards: 573 Yards Elevation: 15.5 Yards down to the hole General: Just past the bunker in the rough, is a nice fairway to land on. Try to knock it as far as you can on that section. I was going to list going for an eagle as a shortcut, but it really isn't that long to reach the green in 2. The hard part is getting it on the green. Whatever you decide to do for your approach shot, just try to not overshoot the green. If you do that, you will end up with an OB and no one likes that. If you think you might have trouble with reaching the green or you want an easier shot, aim for the fairway to the right of the green or aim for the spot at the right corner of the green. There is no bunker and you might just end up with a 15 yard or less shot for eagle which is doable. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 10 Par: 4 Yards: 452 Yards LYards: 467 Yards Elevation: 20.7 Yards down to the hole General: Knock it on to the fairway about 260-270 yards out. This is a nice big section to land on. From here is a nice approach shot to the hole. Not too much to worry about here, not a bad hole. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 11 Par: 4 Yards: 424 Yards LYards: 437 Yards Elevation: 17.9 Yards up to the hole General: Make sure to hit it far when you are aiming for the fairway. The elevation is higher so it will be harder to reach. Lay it up if you have to. When you get ready for your approach shot you will have some elevation so make sure to add a few yards to your shot. The green is a decent size and there is not too much to worry about. Just take your time. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 12 Par: 3 Yards: 182 Yards LYards: 193 Yards Elevation: 4.4 Yards down to the hole General: There is a little dip in elevation so make sure to subtract 2 or 3 yards to your swing. Make sure to not undershoot the ball to the green. You do not want a bad shot or even worse an out of bounds. Shortcut: None Long Tee: Same as above ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hole: 13 Par: 5 Yards: 556 Yards LYards: 576 Yards Elevation: 38.6 Yards down to the hole General: Aim for the right section of the fairway and hit it as far as you can. Make sure if you can hit it 295+ yards to not hit it too far. From there is a m
