1. EXPLANATION OF WEAPONS AND UPGRADES
==============================================================================
As mercenaries for hire, working out of the Security & Strategies Corporation,
Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem have access to a plethora of death-dealing arms,
allowing them to rain destruction upon their foes. However, to truly step up
and deliver the pain, they need to purchase and upgrade better weapons to not
only take down the opposition quicker but to also keep more of their own hide
intact.

This guide will simply break down the weapons and upgrades as they are seen in
the Weapons sub-menu. Any weapon, save for the defaults you start with, can
be purchased in the Weapons sub-menu or whenever the prompt comes up in midst
of missions, sending you to the store where you haggle with arms dealers from
all over the globe.

Because *all* of the weapons (primary, secondary, and special) are unlockable
as you play through the Contractor and Professional modes, I highly suggest
you not purchase *any* of the weapons until you clear both modes. This saves
you a BOATLOAD of money, concentrating only on upgrades. Check Chapter 3,
Weapons Tips, for more.

For starters, rather than repeat every time I break down a weapon's upgrades,
I will now explain what each upgrade generally does:

BARREL: increases damage, reducing the amount of bullets to drop an opponent;
------- costs vary

STOCK: decreases spread, increases accuracy; costs vary
------

CARTRIDGE: increases ammo capacity so you reload less often; costs vary
----------

FRONT MOUNTS: adds a stabilizer, shotgun, or grenade launcher to your barrel;
------------- the stabilzer increases accuracy whereas the shotgun and grenade
launcher adds firepower/Aggro; costs are the same for each mount
with the stabilizer at $2,000, the Masterkey Shotgun at $12,500,
and the 40mm Grenade Launcher at $25,000

SUPPRESSORS: decreases Aggro; great for flanking players, moving about quietly
------------ while the Aggro players attracts all the attention; costs vary

SHIELD: increases Aggro and adds protection; all shields cost $5,000
-------

PIMP: increases Aggro; all weapons have a $10,000 pimping fee
-----

Combining those upgrades makes either Rios or Salem more formidable on the
battlefield, dropping enemies quicker, and preserving health. For example, a
barrel upgrade, stock upgrade, and stabilizer front mount upgrade will enable
you to aim better and deliver a faster rate of fire. In all, you save more
bullets, deal more damage, and take less damage.

Tweak your preferences to fit your style, be it a silent flanker or spotlight
Aggro aggressor. Each and every weapon is useful in certain situations and,
used properly, will deliver a seal of death to the opposition.

The first two categories, Primary and Secondary, are pretty interchangeable in
the sense that you can pack a sub-machine gun in the secondary weapon slot and
use it mainly, supplanting your primary slot with a more powerful but ammo
intensive weapon. See Weapons Tips for more.

As a further note, not all weapons have every type of upgrades. Some only
have barrel, stock, and pimp upgrades; some only have the pimp upgrades and so
on.

==============================================================================
2. WEAPONS/UPGRADES PRICE LIST
==============================================================================
In the Weapons sub-menu, the guns are broken down into three categories which
lines up with that of your weapons-wheel during the in-game combat: Primary,
Secondary, and Special. I will be breaking down each gun's upgrades in
alphabetical order.

To unlock the upper echelon of upgrades, you have to purchase the lower-end
ones first. For example, with the AK-47, to purchase the Vlocz Mk.2 Black
Label barrel, you have to have purchased the Prykhodko Spetznak Mk.3 barrel
first before you can purchase the higher-end upgrades.

In the breakdown, I will mention what type of weapon it is: handgun, sub-
machine gun (assault rifle), machine gun, shotgun, rifle, or launcher. Each
classification have their own characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages.

HANDGUN: generally better for in-close combat, use only as a last resort
--------

SUB-MACHINE GUN: your bread and butter throughout the game; with its rapid
---------------- fire, coupled with their common type of ammo, these guns will
take down the majority of the enemies in the game; assault
rifles fall in this category but will be marked as "assault
rifle" to slightly separate them from the sub-machine guns

MACHINE GUN: definitely the heaviest weapons around, they specialize in
------------ copious amounts of death in a short time at the sacrifice of
             accuracy

SHOTGUN: great for crowd control, especially in tight quarters, usually need
-------- only a couple of shots to drop an enemy

RIFLE: great for distance sniping, especially to reduce the numbers that will
------ alert the others and increase their numbers

LAUNCHER: usually a grenade launcher, they hurl grenades farther than you can
--------- throw them, probably best used as a secondary weapon (in the primary
weapon slot) if you can pack a powerful secondary weapon; there are
also rocket and stinger launchers that takes down armored enemies
          and transport helicopters

After each weapon is "TOTAL PRICE" which reflects the amount of money you need
to have to purchase the weapon and all the upgrades.

==============================================================================
3. WEAPON GRADINGS
==============================================================================
Here I will break down each weapon by type, gauging only the essentials:
damage and accuracy. With ammo capacity and Aggro in general upping the ammo
count of your weapons and how quickly you gain Aggro, they are inconsequential
towards choosing your weapons. Choosing weapons with higher accuracy means
you waste less bullets towards obilerating your opponents, especially coupled
with a high damage rating. The weapons are rated in-game on a "11-inch" slide
bar and using that, I will give each of the damage/accuracy ratings between 1
to 11, giving you an accurate take on a weapon's damage output and accuracy
level. Using this section will allow you to maximize your weapons-wheel's
potential for dealing death from afar.

They will be measured on their damage/accuracy ratings, shown as follows:

AK-47: D: 8
****** A: 6

With D representing Damage and A representing Accuracy.

Numerically, use the following scale:

  1-2: Grunt Issue
  3-5: Low End
    6: Average
  7-9: Top End
10-11: State-of-the-Art

The first part is the weapon name, categorized by weapon type.

4. WEAPONS TIPS
==============================================================================
Upgrading and Earning Cash
--------------------------
As you saw at the very end of the weapons/upgrades price list that it will
take you a whopping total of two million dollars to purchase every weapon and
upgrade them to their maximum potential. That's quite the task to undertake,
especially if you intend to acquire everything. As a reminder, the exact
total was:

**********
$2,158,400
**********

However, there is a quick way to save money and get all of the weapons, next
to free of charge. You still have to pay for the upgrades, though.

Now, just to point out the differences between the difficulty modes, I will
use the monetary total to encourage you to complete both the Contractor and
Professional difficulties. The Recruit difficulty does nothing for your
hoarding of weapons.

After you complete Contractor, every single Primary Weapon is unlocked for
your pleasure and use. This saves you a total of $696,900.

After you complete Professional, every single Secondary and Special Weapon is
unlocked for your pleasure and use. This saves you an additional total of
$293,000.

Combined, that's a savings of nearly a million dollars: $989,900. In the end,
you need to focus on just the upgrades, with the savings, comes out to only:

**********
$1,168,500
**********

A single playthrough nets you exactly $288,500, which takes about 4 full runs
to purchase every last single upgrade. This count doesn't factor into the
extra money you earn finding Exploration Objectives (the briefcases and even
then, only once. after picking them up, they never ever show up again, odd
to say).

There's a quick trick to amassing a huge amount of cash without having to play
through the game over and over.

1) Choose the China mission, choose whatever difficulty you wish to play in,
but choosing Recruit is best as its the easiest. Run all the way up to the
snipe point, blast the bridge as the convoy crosses, run back to the spiffy
hovercraft, murdering whoever along the way. As soon as you board it, you'll
have a checkpoint come up. Simply quit the game, rinse and repeat until your
coffers are full at $30,000 a pop.

2) Slightly quicker than the method above, after beating the game, do not
begin a new one. Simply choose "Continue from Checkpoint", equip the Grenade
Launcher, the P90 for secondary, and you'll spawn at the Clyde fight every
time. Using the GL, take out the armored soldier and flunkies, keeping your
partner in Aggro mode to attract attention. As soon as the platoon is down
and out, regroup and take out Clyde for $20,000 every time. This is easily
the quickest method.

3) Definitely the longest but most lucrative method is the DLC content you can
find as an Add-On in the PSN store, which adds two new missions. After
downloading the content, you're looking for the Miami - Alternative Ending
mission. Complete it, killing Dalton along the way for a cool $75,000. After
the end credits roll, don't begin a new Campaign; simply choose to "Continue
from Checkpoint" and choose the Recruit level. You'll spawn right into the
Dalton fight and with your top of the line weaponry, it's going to be a cinch
to take down the straggling SSC security and take Dalton down for $75,000 a
pop.

Weapons-Wheel Combining
-----------------------
Keep in mind you can swap your Primary, Secondary, and Special weapons with
your AI partner so capitalize on this. After tricking out your arsenal, you
can expect to swap your Primary for a M249 SAW; your Secondary for a P90; and
your Special for a SVD. Those weapons are generally the second best of their
respective weapon slots so take advantage of this by equipping a shotgun as
your Primary, either Magnum as your Secondary, and perhaps one of the heavy
ordnances, the RPG or Stinger, as your Special and immediately swap it with
your partner and use the SVD until you need something to go BOOM. This way,
between the two of you, you are equipped for any situation.

You don't even have to go that route and simply pack your favorites. For me,
I usually live by the Felin-2C, Deagle, and the SVD combination. However, by
doing instant swapping at the beginning of missions, you can have a total of 6
different weapons, one for each weapon type. For example:

Salem Primary: FSPS-12
Rios Primary: M249 SAW

Salem Secondary: Deagle
Rios Secondary: P90

Salem Special: FIM92 Stinger
Rios Special: SVD

You are now equipped with a shotgun, a machine gun, a magnum, a sub-machine
gun, a shoulder-mounted surface-to-air rocket launcher, and a sniper rifle.
If anything's standing at the end of a barrage of this combination, you're
simply a terrible aim ;o)
