If I start a new game will all my medals and unlocked weapons go away because I need to do the hard and crushing difficulties

Just beat the game, go to chapter select, pick the first misson, and when it asks you if you want to overwrite or make new save, just hit circle(dont overwrite or make new save), then hit yes and it will work.
