As far as I know, it can't be shut off, but if you buy a new, larger house, you get a larger fire meter. Hope this helps!

Sorry this is late, but you can't gift pets anymore. It was only able to be done while the Sims 3 pets server was up. Back then, you could gift and receive to and from all your friends that played the game. Now, it isn't possible to gift or receive pets.

I know this is really late response. But you can use Karma power to turn your pet into a Sim and then kick them out.
Guest answered:

You cannot take the fire meter off whatsoever. Even on creative mode. You can't take it off on any other Sims 3 game on any console.

And all the sims
Guest answered:

You can't take it off, but the amount of things in your backpack, household storage and offsite storage contribute to the fire meter, so sell all unwanted things!!! Smile hope this helped!!!

Actually the backpack (+fridge and toyboxes), and the storage unit place whatever, and the household inventory are all different. The actual amount of stuff in the house (not hidden in inventories) is a separate fire meter.
Guest said: 23rd Feb 2017 | REPORT
Anything in the house inventories counts.

The storage/fridge/toys/and books.
I had bought a lot of kids and fishing books and didn't want to sell them. I moved them all to my back pack inventory and my burn meter went down to high yellow. (I keep about ten each of money trees and life plants on my property so mine goes up fast)

Anything in potential active play. Like the Sim an think about it automatically or has more options to use go up higher.

Plants have five stages and have 4 options to basically each stage (water, tend, weed, harvest, fertilize or talk to them) so 6 things.

An end table has nothing but stuff getting put on it.

Its a puzzle and I'm trying to figure it out. I like everyone's responses. It makes me think of different angles to go at it. Happy simming!!!

Then why when I move books from a bookshelf to my backpack it changed my main burn meter? If that is the only items I move.

Yeah. That doesn't work.
Guest said: 29th Jul 2016 | REPORT
You might have to be on the start menu for it to work bc the unlimited money cheat didn't work unless you're on the start menu. The pause menu I mean

No
Guest answered:

Go into your inventory and sell seeds, gems and other colectible stuff you don't need my fire meter was full but when I sold the 2 death seeds and it went down by approximately half

Guest answered:

I've had luck with reducing the fire meter by selecting sledgehammer from build & buy, then removing my garden plants one by one. I have 12-15. Then I undo until all my plants are back. I've done this a few times over a few days successfully reducing full fire meter to yellow. It stays yellow until I harvest, then I deal with the produce (store or sell) then do the sledgehammer thing again. I'm on Xbox.

I tried and it doesn't help, my fire meter is almost red and I want it gone
Guest answered:

Here you go! Go onto build and buy mode, select sledge hammer and delete things you don't need on your property. This should work and lower the fire code. Hope this helps! Smile

Guest answered:

Hey, I'm really late but if this helps anyone the it wont be in vein, well a method I've been doing is continually saving and turning off my console, then restarting. I find that the fire meter goes down just a little bit every now and then, it can get frustrating but with time you can make a huge house packed with stuff this way, I made a four story building doing this, when you do this method you can only get a couple items in every time and can be time consuming but if you really want your house to be the way you want it this can do it, also I should mention I'm only done this on an xbox 360, so I can't say for sure if it helps on any other consoles, also since there will be more items than the game sould be the game does freeze and lag more than usual, I think the fire meter is in place on console versions of this game to deter to much items and thus stalling or freezing the game, good luck

Guest answered:

OK guys. And gals. This isn't a quick fix, but it just dawned me on me that the issue is quantity and depreciation. You can keep basically any number of items in your "backpack" storage.

The oy thing I can think of that APPRECIATES in value are the paintings. Maybe the books post mortem, I'm not sure.
So if you have the minimum of accessories (end tables, curtains, make rugs from carpet squares in build...) And every generation have a artistic perfectionist and only decorate with those, or keep them in you bag until your ready.

Everything else seems still like cheating. There has to be a way to do it legit. It won't be a "quick win" but maybe that is more what the designers had in mind for longer term game play. And the paintings take up less "burn space" I imagine because they are less interactive and require less memory. The stationary things seem to run smaller than say a bed, fridge or TV. The plants have a lot of active stages. So that's probably why those fill up faster.

Anyway. Just my thoughts. Haven't tried it yet, but the therory is sound.

Guest answered:

I think when the creators added the Fire Meter to this game they ruined the game. It's taking away soo much fun that could've been but can't. Why would they be mean and create such a thing.Put a limit on our enjoyment and creativity!
