Throughout the game you will have decisions to make that will affect how the story goes, there will be a number of different endings including the true canon ending. Depending on what you choose you could change to the light side or stay on the dark side. That is all the information I have at the moment since it is only just being released this week.
You'll receive decisions that will affect the ending. Giving you chance to change to the light side or remain on the dark side. Sorry, but thats all of the info I am given, the game was only released this week.
Actually, the game is NOT cannon. Only the book is considered cannon. It tells the ways of Galen Marek AKA Starkiller.
Why wouldn't the light side ending be canon? Considering the book is based off the game, with some minor differences, they're essentially the same thing. How is one canon, and one not?
Anyway, at the end of the game you get a choice. I won't reveal it, but it's pretty obvious.
First off, the book is NOT based on the game. Nothing is based on nothing. It is one big multimedia project. There is a game, book, graphic novels (comics), etc. The story line from the book is what is considered cannon. As for the game, it plays the same regardless of what you do/kill. The only time you pick jedi or sith, is at the very end of the game. Don't pretend like you know everything; especially when you don't know anything.
At the end of the game when you fight Darth Vader, the Emperor will try to convince you to kill Vader and to proclaim your rightful place by his side as the Emperor new apprentice, or the other option being to fight the Emperor, if you finish off Vader that's the dark path of the story, and if you fight the Emperor that's the light side path of the story. Also in case anybody is wondering the Ultimate Sith Edition is a continue on of the dark path ending, the emperor makes you hunt down the remaining jedi but yet you never fight yoda, you should be able to considering the game takes place between episodes IV and V when Yoda happens to day in V so you should get to fight Yoda considering that he is the strongest Jedi but the let you fight Boba Fett when he's just a bounty hunter and isn't a hard task when I imagine Yoda would be hard to beat.
