Saving women from hanging
I have followed men to save their abducted wives from being hung, but every time they die. I have tried numerous things, but I can't seem to save them. How is this done? Also, what are these random little short missions properly referred to as? Thanks

Shoot the rope, and she will fall down. If you want yourselves to survive, kill the enemies.

Always lock-on to the rope only with dead-eye at first. Then after the victim falls, quickly dispatch all enemies and 'viola!', you've saved her. These encounters are called 'ambient challenges'.

I deadeye the rope first, then as many of them b******* heads as I can. If you're not great at headshots two bullets tends to do the trick as well. (You can use medicine or something to refill the deadeye meter if need be, then finish taking them out). Just make sure you deadeye the rope first or they'll die. But this last time after I saved the wench, she ran off with my horse! 😐 Almost wish I'd let her hang lol.
