If you played the very first one to Armageddon, it was to be Taven to get the power, not Shao Khan. That is why it says Kombat Continues. Shao Khan was never to have the power. Plus, Mortal Kombat is forever because if you look at the endings, you will see that each one will not be related to another person who is mentioned in the ending.
