We're in Hogwarts castle and stuck on when to use this red box for

In the areas that you find the red boxes, you need to take them to Hedwig, she's on a perch somewhere nearby and you just have to drop it off for you to unlock whatever bonus or Lego "cheat" you found. Then go to the Leaky Cauldron, then Diagon Alley, then Eyelops Owl Emporium, go upstairs and then you can purchase which ever red boxes you found. Don't bother with the carrot wands or any of the funny wands right away, save up your studs to get the Collect Ghost Studs one first, then fast dig, then 2x if you've found those already, That way, you'll have plenty of money later on to get just about whatever you want.
I know that it's been a very long time since you've asked, but I like to check the Q&A's before I skim through the walkthrough if I'm stuck.
