Whoa whoa whoa not so fast go to the left of the batcave of course but first beat story mode. >=)

You have to complete all 15 levels (on bat computer in bat cave) then you go to the left and before you go up to the planes, carry on left and next to the lift, there will be two pods, and these are the custom character creators. You can be these by going to the character selection menu, and on the left/right (depending which pod you used) and select your custom character.
