What are the x's for that are on the wall and stuff are they just there to show you that your going the right way or what?

The x's on the walls of the hospital were for the demolition team. If you picked up the intel, it was for the guys you were trying to kill. They were to put C4 charges on the x's of the walls they mean nothing to your direction or progress of the game.
