The companions you can have on Fallout: New Vegas are, Arcade, Lilly, Veronica, ED-E, Rex, Cassidy, Raul, and Boone. My favorite has been Arcade, because he's a great shot, but I've only tried Arcade, Lilly, and Raul.

Boone is easy, you find him in the dinosaurs mouth, I believe in nipton... But only at night, do his quest, and ask him to join you, exp chance(s) him and ED-E are a good combo, ED-E is in primm, better lvl up science and repair tho
