Forward the proper ports on your router and have UPNP enabled. After that it's best connection.

Do not join a lobby with other players waiting to 'ready up' but be the only player(waiting for other players to join your lobby).This seems to work for me,but I do have fibre optic BB so that's possibly why?
Usually checking signal strenght during gameplay should give a good indication (press select).
