It's very simple, you will need obsidian blocks (12 total) and flint & steal, begin by placing four obsidian blocks on the ground, then place three blocks upwards from both ends. From there, place four more obsidian blocks across top.Then take the flint & steal, and place it on the bottom level of the obsidian frame, and the portal should turn purple is done correctly.
