If you want to defeat things you press triangle for your cloak then you sneak up behind them and then you kill them.

At the misty dell you don't go run away just stay near where you are and don't fight the skeleton things and just kill the death-eaters also don't forget to use protago to regain your health and to not hit with their spells.
