A.1                        INTRODUCTION                                    -

Hey everyone, thank you for reading my FAQ and hope you enjoy it. Everytime
I start a FAQ I always end up asking myself, "Why am I doing this", but the
reason I started making this character guide for Hiei is because I believe
that he is the most intriguing and awesome character of Yu Yu Hakusho. He is
also a very fast and agile character and if you can master him, you will be
very tough to beat. This FAQ will tell you about Hiei's past and give you
the list of all his attacks and combos. Not to mention it will give you a
list of cheats and unlockables. Enjoy!

Status: REI KAI TANTEI/FORMER ASSASIN
Realatives: Yukina(His sister)/Hina(His Mother)

Weapon: Katana
Demon Class: A Class
Special Strengths: He's Fast and Agile, and has his Jagan Eye.
Special Characteristics:
*Mean but Intelligent.*
*He'sa famous thief in Makai.* 
*He is the "Forbidden Child of Koorime".*
*He likes to challenge strong opponents.*
*He will risk his life his pride.*
*He dislikes Humans and Demons who are untrustworthy.*

Hiei's Story:
Hiei is a fire demon who was born in the Floating Kingdom of Koorime where
legendary youkai maidens live. As a fire demon, Hiei was bannished from
their land when he was a child because of the fact he may bring chaos upon
their homeland according to the Koorime elders. Hiei's mother Hina, begged
the elders to spare his life. Hina's friend Rina, was ordered to drop Hiei
from high ground and let him die in the cursed Makai grounds. Hiei's small
body was covered in straps with writings on it to seal his powers. Ruri
tucked a gem from Hina's tear inside thes traps and whispered to him
that he should live and become strong, and she will be waiting for his
revenge. After this, she dropped him into the land of Makai. The elders
saw everything  including Hina who was suffering in agonizing grief. Ruri's 
words were marked on Hiei's mind. Hiei survived the fall and was adopted by
a group of thieves. Hiei kept the gem that reminded him of Ruri because it
gives him a reason to live on. It comforts him when he's alone. As years
passed, Hiei learned to fight and defend himself from demons. He loves
hearing his opponents cry for help. He then became a hired assassin.
The thieves who raised him couldn't stand him attitude anymore and kicked
him out of their group. He wandered in Makai by himself and killed whoever
got in his way. When he was fighting with a demon, he lost his gem. It
fell from a cliff and was washed away by a river. It was impossible for
him to find the gem. He now wants to find the gem and the Koorime.
                   
He then realized that he needed a third eye to find them, and he went
to Sigure. Hiei requested Sigure implant the Jagan eye on him. Sigure
warned him that it would be dangerous, but Hiei done it anyway. The
operation was  successful, but Hiei lost almost all his strength.
Sigure told him to stay for another day, so that he could teach him
some techniques. With such little energy at that time,he realised it
would protect himself from harm. They also had a deal that in exchange
for the jagan, Hiei would never tell Yukina that he is her long lost 
twin brother.

Having the Jagan, it is now possible for him to find the land that
condemned him to death. As he reached Koorime, it turned into a ghost
town since no one wanted to talk to him and he was feared as a fire
demon. As Hiei continued to walk, he found Ruri. At first she did not
notice the fire demon was Hiei, the forbidden child. Hiei asked her
questions about a child who was once cast out. Ruri showed him the
grave of Hina who committed suicide after Hiei was cast out. Ruri
also told him that his sister, Yukina, left Koorime to find him.
hoping that he is still alive. After hearing this, Hiei left to find
his sister. As Ruri watched him walk away, she realized that he was
the child whom she almost killed. She cried and fell down on her knees 
for forgiveness. Hiei had no intention of killing her, so he walked
away and left Koorime.

During his search for Yukina, he reached Ningenkai. That was the 
where he met Kurama. Hiei attacked him because he thought Kurama was
an enemy, but he found out that it was just a misunderstanding. Hiei
got wounded from the fight and so Kurama brought him to his house and
treated his wound. After that, they both defeated the youkai who Hiei
was looking for. Kurama tagged along because that particular youkai
happened to kidnap his friend, Maya. Since their fighting skills blend 
well, they became friends. When Hiei got involved in the rei kai robbery,
he met Yusuke. When he became a REI KAI TANTEI, as punishment for his crime, 
he joined Yusuke's group. He also managed to find Yukina from the evil claws
of Tarukane. When he saw her face to face, he decided to keep their blood 
relationship to himself since Yukina did not know who he was.

Here's a list of the generic controls. These can be performed by all the
characters and mastering these will help you become a better fighter:

Jab - Square
Punch - Triangle
Kick - Circle
Low Punch - Down, X, release X and press Square
Low Kick - Down, X, release X and press Circle
Upper cut - Down, X, release X and press Triangle
Sweep - Down, X, release x and press Triangle + Circle
Grab and throw - Triangle + Circle
Block - X
Wake-up Kick - Square
Jumping attack - Press up + X and while your in the air press Square
Tag Team - R3

First off, we will start with his Specific M<oves.(Note that "... Signifies
a pause)

Sword On: Damage: None - How To Perform: R1 - What Does It Do: It draws 
Hiei's Sword. You must draw his sword to perform certain moves.

Sword Off: R1
High Punch: Damage: None - How To Perform: Forward + Sqr - What Does
It Do: Puts Hiei's sword away.

Rapid Fire Kick: Damage: - 10% How To Perform: Circle - What Does It
Do: It kicks the enemy rapidly and can be pressed continously for multiple
kicks.

Sword Dash: - Damage: 10% - How To Perform: Forward + Circle(While Running)
What does it do: Dashes the enemy while running.

High Punch: Damage: 8% - How To Perform: Forward + Sqr - What does it do:
Punches the enemy in mid-air.

Slash Down: Damage: 12% - How To Perform: Down + Triangle(While Sword is
drawn) - What does it do: Hiei holds his sword up in the air and strikes
with his sword.

Slash Up: Damage: 2% - How To Perform: Backward + Triangle(While Crouching
and Sword is drawn) - What Does It Do: Hiei strikes the enemy twice with a
weak attack.

Sword Down: Damage: 20% - How To Perform: Up, Down + Triangle(While Sword
is drawn) - What does it do: Hiei strikes from the air like rapid 
lightning.

Now let's move on to his Spirit Moves:

Dragon Of The Darkness Flame: Damage: 80% - How to perform: Backward,
Forward + R1(Uses A Full Spirit Energy bar) - What does it do: Shoots
the Dragon of the Darkness Flame at your opponent causing massive
damage.

Teleport: Damage: none - How to perform - R2(Uses A Full Spirit Energy
bar) - What does it do: Teleports you behind the enemy.

Fist Of The Mortal Flame: Damage: 30% - How to perform: R1(Uses A Full
Spirit Energy bar and must be in the air to perform) - What does it do:
Strikes the enemy with a flaming fist while in the air.

Here's a list of his combo moves:

Rapid Fire Punch: Damage: 4% - How to perform: Sqr, Sqr - What does it 
do: Punches the enemy twice.

Dragon Rise: Damage: 14% - How To Perform: Up, Forward + Sqr - What does
it do: Hiei punches the enemy three times.

Slashing Flame: Damage: 23% - How to perform: Down, Forward + Triangle -
What does it do: Strikes the enemy once pauses and strikes again.

BackFire: Damage: 24% - How to perform: Backward, Down + Sqr What does
it do: Punches the enemy in mid-air.

Kick Out: Damage: 65% - How to perform: Up, Forward + Sqr, "...", 
Circle - What does it do: An awesome combo move that strikes the enemy
five times for massive damage.
 
Slash Down Combo: Damage: 55% - How to perform: Down, Forward + Triangle
, "...", L1 - What does it do: An awesome combo that strikes the enemy
six times doing great damage.

Mortal Wave: Damage: 50% - How to perform: Backward, Down + Sqr, "...",
Up + Triangle - What does it do: A move that strikes the enemy 4 times and
then throws them across the battlefield.

Well, there you are. That's all his moves. I know it's a short list, but
make use of each move and you'll do just fine.

C.1                        UNLOCKABLES                                     -

Here is where I tell you all the things you can unlock:

Jin: Beat Jin in Dark Tournament episode 19 while getting two perfects.

Chu: Beat him in Dark Tournament plus or win his token by getting two
perfects in a row and beat someone in Dark tournament token mode with his
token in your token deck.

Zeru: Win 5 matches in a row in any mode.

Suzuka: Complete survival mode with Shishi Wakamaru.

Shishi Wakamaru: Beat Genkai with Yusuke in the cave area on hard.

Rinku: Win two Perfect Rounds on hard in 1 player mode.

Bui: Beat Ichigaki's survival mode.

Gama: Beat arcade mode with Touya as your final opponent.

M1: Win episode 15 in Dark Tournament mode

M2: Win M1's arcade mode

M3: Beat Hiei and Kurama in tag team mode with M1 and M2. 

Younger Toguro: Beat Toguro in dark tournament plus mode a second time.

Roto: Complete episode 9 in Dark Tournament mode

Makintaro: Defeat Makintaro in Dark Tournament mode.

Risho: Destroy 75% of the Area floor while playing as 1P in any mode.

Touya: Beat Touya in Dark Tournament mode.

Itchigaki: Beat Itchigaki in Dark Tournament Mode.

Elder Toguro: Beat Younger Toguro while playing 1 Player on hard.

Karasu: Defeat Karasu in 1P survival with Kurama in his Yoko Form.

Yusuke: Beat Yusuke in any mode.

Hiei: Finish a tag team fight against any five opponent with only Hiei.

Kuwabara: Finish Kuwabara's training mode against only himself.

Kurama: Beat arcade mode with Kurama.

Tag Team Mode: Finish Chapter 6: "Walk The Plank".

Dark Tournament Plus Mode: Win the dark tournament on any difficulty.

Survival Mode: Finish Chapter 7: "Mass Slaughter".

Battle Stage Cliffs: Finish Dark Tournament episode 13, "Need a Hand?"

Cave: Finish Dark Tournament episode 21, "Genkai's Last Trial"

Dark arena: Finish Dark Tournament episode 22, "Blades"

Crashed arena: Finish Dark Tournament episode 30, "The Shadow 
Of Elder Togoro"

Training Dojo: Beat arcade mode with Younger Toguro.

I'll start this section off with a list of cheats. To enter them, at the menu
select options and then cheats, and now enter the following:

Unlock All Characters - Sqr, Up, Sqr, Circle, Down, Circle
Extra spirit energy for P2 - own, Up, Circle, Left, X, Right
No damage P2 - Up, Sqr, Left, Sqr, Circle, Sqr
Infinite Spirit Energy for P1 - Sqr, X, Circle, Sqr, X, Circle
No damage P1 - Circle, Sqr, Down, Left, Circle, Sqr
Unlock all cards - Circle, Sqr, Circle, Sqr, Sqr, Down
Unlock all chapters - Up, Down, X, Circle, Sqr, Right
Turbo Mode - Circle, X, Right, X, Up, Sqr
Unlock all Battle Stages - Up, Right, Left, Right, X, X
Unlock all modes - Left, Right, Down, Right, X, Circle

Alternate Clothing Trick: 
Start off by making a Tag-Team in Skirmish Mode. Now select the fighters you
want player 1 to use, then move over to the character you want to have wear
alternate clothing and press start, you should now be able to select the CPU
Fighters. Move to the character you hit start over and select the fighter
and the fighter should now be wearing alternate attire.
